Felix Hernandez vs. Francisco Liriano

Considering what is coming ahead in the next couple of weeks, the Seattle Mariners' two-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates seems a bit more important than your standard two-game series. A sweep here would be oh-so-nice, considering that after the Mariners head out of PNC Park, they get to go to Wrigley Field and then return home to host the Red Sox.

So yeah, two games against the Pirates and then a week straight against two of the top teams in baseball. Sometimes, that is just how the schedule gets crumpled up, set on fire, and thrown at your face with minimal spin.

Some things are nice about today, like for instance, it is Felix Day! Although Felix Day doesn't ring nearly as loud and as strong as it has in previous years, it would be nice to see Felix Hernandez out duel Francisco Liriano because Hernandez is a better pitcher. Felix started out with a rather rough form on July 20, his first game back since returning from the DL. If the Mariners are going to hope to make a push into the playoffs, they'll need Good Felix to show up.
