Sunshine. Lollipops. The Mariners go for the sweep today, and who else would you rather have on the mound than Felix Hernandez?
The Mariners get the pleasure of facing Wandy Rodriguez, who at age 36 is back for a second tour of the state of Texas. Rodriguez has only made one start this year, but it was a decent enough one, allowing a singular run through five innings. Rodriguez -- you know what, I'm going to call him Wandy in an Aziz Ansari-character voice instead. Actually, like his DJ. You must be this good to ride Wandy's...fastball. Comedy reference comedy reference etcetera. I have nothing else to add.
It's a similar lineup to last night's, with Justin Ruggiano hitting 2nd and Rickie Weeks sliding into the 5th spot. Oh, wait. There's a Willie Bloomquist in the lineup for some inexplicable reason, giving Kyle Seager a day off and hitting 7th. I get that Lloyd wants to keep guys where they're comfortable, and Brad Miller is having success in the 9 hole, but 6-8 tonight will be an absolute dumpster fire. Hopefully, the M's won't need many runs with Felix on the mound, though a bigger buffer than the last few nights would be welcomed.
Happy Felix Day.
