The Full Monty (2023)
Slow start ultimately fab
How anyone can leave a review of a series based on watching half the first episode is totally baffling. It's also totally their loss.
I will admit that I was a little undecided after episode 1 but decided to stick with it. So glad I did.
Dont expect it to be like the movie it isn't. It is though important that you have seen the movie.
I dont normally write reviews but in this instance, just felt the low ratings were really unjustified.
In fact, this isn't really a review lol
Just stick with it watch more than one episode.
A totally different story to the original movie but with the same charm, humour,pathos, characters and scenery.
I'm slightly biased as a one time resident of Sheffield.
Just give it a chance.
The Last of Us (2023)
I tried.. gave up at ep 7
1st episode showed real promise was excited to see more.
2nd was ok not great but ok good sets and camera work but starting to lose pace.
3rd episode was sweet but didnt advance the story in any way.
I am bailing out after just watching ep7.
Sooo slow like the writers were thinking
" omg we only got enough material for 4 shows, how do we stretch it out to 10 ?"
I have played the game didnt really mind if this was faithful or not.
But when you start to watch something then spend most of the time checking yr facebook....
Many series I have watched start out slow but get better as they progress..
This show is the total opposite..great start..getting slower and slower and maybe even slower by episode 8..I'll never know cos I'll never see it.

Dont know why I watched it till the end.
I enjoyed the first one. This obviously had a bigger budget but think they spent it on sfx rather than script or decent actors.
After the first room I was hoping they'd all die in the second one.
V-Wars (2019)
Gave up......
The first half hour had me interested. Starts sliding downhill quite rapidly after that. I made 16 minutes into episode 4 then gave up. Boring , just boring.
In these days of lockdown, with much more time to kill I have lowered the bar somewhat on my viewing choices.
If we still on lockdown in 4 or 5 years maybe I'll come back to this one.
Spasti Leningrad (2019)
Not great...not the worst
Kind of enjoyed this. A tad disjointed,think the editing department needed either more direction or a bigger budget. The cinematography was good and soundtrack was fitting, reminiscent of James Horner John Barry.
Watched with English subtitles which in parts were a bit too literal.
Not the worst war movie you will ever see and if you can forgive the frequent borrowings from saving private ryan and titanic you might enjoy.
I give it a 5 out of 10. Watchable but only if your really stuck for something better.
The Islands (2019)

Well I managed just over 11 minutes. So I cant really comment on whether or not the film carried an important message or if the Hawaiian scenery was awesome. Nor do I know if the film would have made me cry or laugh. An apparent true story of which I will remain ignorant of...unless I Google it.
I watch quite a lot of movies I'm fairly easily entertained. Dont mind big or low budget I can live with the odd plothole and forgive some bad editing and mediocre script. Not usually upset by poor soundtrack or cheap special effects.
The one thing I cant accept is...bad acting... If it's a high school play..then its acceptable expected even but a movie ?? I wouldn't want a bad mechanic to fix my car nor would I pay an amateur plumber to mend my sink.
11 minutes of this movie I had to stop watching. Acting was abysmal...by everyone....
So, if like me you expect a professional actor to be able to play their trade then,honestly, give this one a miss.
If you still have your old sixth form amateur production of "taming of the shrew " on VHS. Watch that instead.
Black Summer (2019)
Trust me....give it a miss
I'm annoyed with myself for actually watching all of this....but kept thinking " it must get better,begin to make sense,have some kind of plot". Unfortunately...No !
And only myself to blame,having read all the negative reviews I still decided to watch because i am a huge fan of zombie movies.
The whole series makes no sense whatsoever.
Each episode is more ridiculous than the last.
Character development is nil really didn't care if any of them lived or died. But the main disappointment is......there is no coherent storyline.... jumps all over the place... I thought film studios had a continuity department...obviously not....
Maybe I am being too harsh and maybe it will resolve itself in season two.
I will never know !!!!
