Lady Ballers (2023)
Probably would have been funny in the 90's, but eh, not now. Just boring.
South Park made this joke a couple of years ago and it was hilarious, heck, it's still as funny as ever.
However, Daily Wire made a full feature movie just about it and there are jokes better told in a certain length than try to stretch it as long as possible.
Furthermore, the acting wasn't very good, the comedy in itself could've worked for a 90's movie no problem, it's just that shtick has gotten tiresome, boring, and unoriginal.
The Right says the Left can't meme, yet here we are where DW made a not-so funny movie and South Park did it far better in just 20mins, or even just 1m30s if you count just that one epic scene with him and Strongwoman.
El pueblo (2019)
Started out great, and became just watchable.
I really enjoyed the first season a lot and even the second one, but then they introduced "progressive" characters and it just changed the show for the worse with constant petty name/gender changes that were completely unnecessary.
Plus, the word "patriarchy" was excessively used so if you do get around to watch it, that's something to keep in mind as it does get tiresome.
Moreover, the final season that being season 4 was certainly my least liked of the four seasons, but I do admit I liked the Porroncho brothers being featured on a full season as they were pretty funny and interesting. Also, El Pueblo is connected with somewhat connected with the newer seasons of La Que Se Avecina so it does help watching both (I did as I liked the trailer than as a 'chore').
So yeah, it could have been a great show overall if it weren't for those unfortunate repetitive details.
Conta-me Como Foi (2007)
The original five seasons were great.
For a very long time now I had wanted to watch this show (as I know the language) and all original five seasons were a blast to have seen, but then comes the new ones... I tried watching episode one of season six, however, I just couldn't stomach it (I did watch it in its entirety to see if it'd get better.. didn't).
While season six does feature the family cast from the original series, the rest is all different (yes, they did move to a new neighborhood), you could say it's an entirely different show altogether. It saddened me seeing that they brought back this show just to use it as a cashcow. Plus, it just looks and feels like a soap opera now so that's another reason I can't stand it.
Season 5 ended in 2011, and Season 6 aired in 2019 so it's a drastic difference of years and honestly, it didn't need a 6th, 7th, or 8th season.
That being said, forget the new seasons exist and just watch the original series (seasons 1-5).
FUBAR (2023)
Schwarzenegger's Tulsa King
That's what it feels like it, Schwarzenegger saw Stallone's success with his show Tulsa King and here we are, but the difference is that Stallone is backed up by Paramount and Taylor Sheridan (man's a genius!) rather than, you know, Netflix which at this point just makes content for quantity instead of quality.
Now, did I like the show? No, not really.
I only lasted the first episode and it was painful to watch considering it was unfunny, uninteresting, abysmal, boring, and in no way does it deserve to last nearly an hour (if it were actually good, I'd not be against that, but it isn't).
Moreover, will Netflix cancel this show? That wouldn't surprise me regardless it has a has-been action star from the 80's.
La que se avecina (2007)
Ended with season 12. Season 13 is more of a spin-off.
I've been watching this show for many years and love it, but the 13th Season really feels off. It's missing many of the original cast, it's not in Montepinar, and overall has the feel of a new, spin-off show.
If you take Season 13 in that regard then it's pretty decent, otherwise you'll hate it because it's nothing like the original series (S01-S12).
Moreover, LQSA could have or should have ended by the eighth or ninth season although they dragged it along as much as possible due to the success and we see it's still happening with "Season 13."
There isn't much else to say. It's one of the best Spanish sitcom shows ever made.
Walker: Independence (2022)
Update: It's just another crappy CW show.
There was a time I enjoyed this Western show, but the newer episodes completely destroyed any enjoyment I had with it and I'd rather just avoid it altogether since its quality is bottom of the barrel.
As to why it has become so bad? Well, the later episodes just felt like a complete waste of time since all they did was talk, talk, and talk, and no action. Plus, the background music never stops which doesn't help it's absolutely garbage so listening to it in the background really did not do this show any favors whatsoever.
Have you seen a CW teen-drama-soap-opera show? Well, this ain't no different from that.
And I don't even care if the show gets renewed or canceled anymore. Congrats, ya'll ruined a show that had potential, hope you're happy with it.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: Whose Show Is This? (2022)
What were they thinking?
The entire season was painfully bad, but they actually made an even worse episode where nothing essentially happened, it was a Disney+ ad, and two awful endings. I genuinely couldn't believe what I had just seen and it was the *final* episode of the season!
I can't say I'm disappointed because every episode pretty much was, well, except the eighth where we had Daredevil and he made it somewhat watchable, at least.
Moreover, She-Hulk's CGI never improved, it always looked like she was a video game character. They should have just painted Tatiana Maslany green or use a stunt double as it'd have been better and actually believable. Comedy aspect of the show? There were jokes, but you'd have to be a nine year old to find it funny.
Lastly, this show was a huge disappointment and I won't bother to watch season two (if there is one). I only tuned in because of Tatiana Maslany (great actress) and Daredevil.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Seen all seven episodes so far, and it's been massively disappointing. It won't get any better.
She-Hulk looked bad and unfunny since the trailers and frankly, it has not improved at all. They've just been doing the same awkward shtick constantly and it just doesn't work.
If that wasn't bad enough, the special effects look utterly awful, she sorta reminds me of a parody of Shrek, to be honest.
Daredevil? Nope, even on the 7th episode he's nowhere to be found. All they showed so far was his mask in a garbage bin which I assumed he'd show up on the next episode (at the time it would have been episode 6), but he didn't.
How or why this show exists just makes me wonder so much. I was a huge fan of Tatiana Maslany as she was amazing in Orphan Black though all that was ruined with She-Hulk's cringefest.
Better Things (2016)
Pretentious and unfunny. Comedy? Gives a look into the family of a rich female family.
I thought this would be a funny, comedic show, and during the early seasons it somewhat was, but as it went on it just showed its true colors. I'll explain, this show is just about a rich family of women who live their life despite how awkward their actions and behavior may be.
The later seasons is when it gets even worse with the teenage daughters starting to act out, like emo, vaping, and just doing stuff that would annoy the heck out of a father, if they actually had one. That's it, it's a story about fatherless daughters so they just act immaturely like their mother.
I don't even bother writing reviews on here, but this show was so frustrating that it gave me the power to do so. Lol.
A Portuguesa (2018)
Artistically beautiful, but soulless empty.
I'm Portuguese so I figured I'd give this film a chance. How wrong was I.
"The Portuguese Woman" looks and feels like an artistic motion picture directed by Wed Anderson, except that the story and characters aren't really intriguing to watch. The film is about two hours long and by thirty minutes later I already felt I had seen over an hour!
Also, I agree with the other reviewer that the actress (Clara) whom played "The Portuguese Woman" wasn't actually Portuguese, but by nationality. She is stunningly beautiful, that's for sure.
5/10 feels like a fair score for this though anything less wouldn't be surprising either.
