Monica O My Darling (2022)
Breath of fresh air
I've come to realise that Rajkumar Rao's movies are really entertaining to watch. Monico Oh My Darling has a very interesting plot and is the strong point of the movie. Another place that deserves credit is the music. There are not many filmy songs in there but the background music during certain scenes is very well done and lifts up the quality.
Huma Qureshi falls flat with her emotions in the first half of the movie. Her entrance dance sequence was so poorly executed (by herself) and really put me off. Her acting improved towards the end of the movie but I think a better actress was needed for Monica's role.
Rajkumar Rao was amazing as usual, he's a natural! Supporting cast was decent, not too shabby. Comedy was on point and not too distracting as well.
I honestly felt a lot of the cuss words were forced and didn't really need to be there. I don't mind bad language but this movie seemed to push it unnecessarily.
Overall easy 8/10 and I definitely recommend for you to watch it.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023)
Weekend ruined
FItst off I don't know why this movie is sitting at 7.3 when every review I see here 1 star. I agree with all the negative reviews. Salman Khan absolutely treats his audience like utter garbage with a non-existent script, terrible direction, poor dialogues and unreal action as usual.
Each of the 3 brothers getting a dialogue each in turn is annoying as it happens way too often and isn't even funny. My family went to watch it on a weekend and all of us wanted to leave by the first half but since we paid for the whole movie we sat through the whole movie. I personally left with a headache because of how bad the movie was.
Credit where credit is due, Pooja Hegde and most of the South Indian cast were the only good thing about the film.
Save your money. Don't watch this garbage. The 7.3 rating is not reflective of the actual movie.
The Final Call (2019)
Decent thriller but horrible lack of aviation knowledge
The premise intrigued me and I just love anything related to aeroplanes. Hence I went ahead and watched this. I don't know about a common person watching this but for a flight enthusiast, this was painful to watch. What starts off as a Boeing 737 with winglets morphs into a 737 without winglets. Then we realise that it's actually a Boeing 777. In the middle of the series the plane is a now a 2 engined 747, like make up your mind people. Also in the scene where a midnair collision is about to happen, the ATC says an A380 is in its path but that's just a twin engined A330 if i recall correctly. In the last episode the plane becomes an Airbus A330, an A320 and finally ends up being an A330. This lack of consistency is really jarring.
The plane takes off from Mumbai to fly to Sydney. Throughout the journey even when it's flying over Indonesia or asked to land at Port Blair, the contact is only with Mumbai ATC and not the respective airport's ATC, like Mumbai ATC is the only ATC of the world.
Acting was pretty good. Arjun Rampal was just amazing. The story was flowy except for some stretched out backstories that weren't all that great. The ending could have been better.
The Perfect Date (2019)
Definitely recommend
Can't believe this scored less than To All the Boys I Loved Before. That movie was so bad and yet got a 7. This movie was joy to watch and I loved the chemistry between the actors. A fun movie to watch and chill.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Casting has lost its way
The movie has its moments but the casting really didn't let me enjoy it. From Renee to black canary to Cassandra. Since when did D in DC stand for diversity? Ugh it's annoying when they completely change the characters. Margot and Ewan were the only good actors here. If you can get past the weird casting choices there is some fun here and there. Don't go in hoping for a great story though.
Murder Mystery (2019)
Fun from start to finish
I don't understand these 1 stars. The jokes are funny, maybe these are my kind of jokes but it's definitely not unfunny. Acting was top notch and so was the script. Don't listen to the haters. Give it a watch.
Shazam! (2019)
Can understand the hype but not the reviews
This movie was cringe from start to finish. The jokes were lame, the characters were dumber than blondes at times. The constant yelling of jokes were plain annoying. The kid Billy and Shazam Billy had 0 similarity in their personality. I am a DC fan but I'm sorry to say that this movie was crap. After it was done I had the same feeling I have after watching typical superhero movies. Hero beats villain. End of story. There is absolutely no dark tone here and maybe that's what makes it look like a poorly made marvel movie.
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
The worst movie of the series
This is my first review on IMDb and I'm only writing this because so many reviews are praising this movie! I knew it would be average but within the first 10 minutes I realised how horrible this movie was. From winning a race in reverse gear of a wrecked car to driving ahead of an army without a single bullet hitting them. I know this series has always had over the top action but this plain nonsense. As somebody else said in their review the heists didn't need cars in the first place. I only liked the action sequences between Dwayne and Jason, rest were unwatchable! I feel bad for the people praising this movie.
