V/H/S/Beyond (2024)
Fun, Gore , Trash and Aliens! I Love It!
I have to honestly admit I'm a big fan of the V/H/S parts. The second and first parts are my favorites. But the other parts are also impressive. Except for the MTV production "V/H/S Viral" I thought it was the worst part of all.
So we now come to the new part V/H/S Beyond. I found it quite refreshing because of its UFO theme and two well-known horror actors show their first directing work.
The beginning starts like a mockumentary. There is a report about an old house that is haunted by aliens and the current UFO videos from the Pentagon files are also shown. The makers certainly took inspiration from this.
Let's now come to the First episode "Stork": A Zombie slaughter with almost every camera perspective there is. There's also a fun chainsaw scene that will make the hearts of gore and splatter fans beat faster. I give it an 8/10
Second Episode "Dream Girl":
Be warned the episode is completely in Indian you have to read a lot of subtitles to follow the story.
The beginning is a bit slow but towards the second half Gore fans will get their money's worth. Only the Bollywood singing was a little annoying. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of Bollywood. I give the episode a 7/10 because of the ending. But for me it was the worst episode of all.
Third episode " live and let dive":
The Episode was really fun and was a bit of a surprise for me. I'm just saying parachute jumpers hit an unidentified flying object. Only the alien looked like too much GCI but the episode is still worth watching. The episode gets an 8/10 from me.
Fourth episode "Fur Babies":
Justin Long filmed the episode with his brother Christian Long and they also wrote the script together. I have to say they did a great job. The story is just funny, crazy and damn strange. The second half is impressive. Justin Long and his brother should make more horror films together. The episode gets a good 8/10 from me.
Fifth episode "Stowaway":
Now let's come to the pretty Kate Siegel with this episode she did her first directing work and I have to say it is visually impressive almost unusual for a V/H/S episode. The story doesn't bring anything new but it's more eye-catching. You should have seen the episode before. You can take the risk of taking a look, it's worth it. I give it a positive 7/10.
The resolution of the Mockumentary was also quite nice. To this day I can't get the Creature you see at the end out of my head. ;)
Monkey Man (2024)
A Cool Stylish Action Film made by Dev Patel!
When I got the Hype from Monkey Man. I thought to myself that the Reviews were completely exaggerated and that the film didn't promise what it promised. Well, I can tell you one thing: No John Wick part will beat it, but the film is still Fun and the solid Action scenes are Worth seeing.
The Soundtrack is Great and gives the Fight scenes the Necessary polish. The Camera movement and quick cuts are impressive.
Dev Patel put a lot of Love into his first directorial debut and not just behind the camera. He really got into shape for the role and the results are impressive.
The Fight scenes don't bring anything new, but if you consider that Dev Patel completed Combat Training for the Role, you have to honestly admit that the Boy still put in a lot of Effort.
Towards the end, Dev Patel proves that he has a little Keanu Reeves in him!
In the End, Dev Patel shows us that he can kick Bad Boys' Asses in a stylish and cool way.
I don't really like India films. Some of them are too exaggerated and uncreative for me and the whole Bollywood music is just not for me.
For me, Monkey Man is the first cool stylish Action Film from India that I really liked, especially because of its well-chosen Soundtrack.
Monkey Man was a Big surprise for me.
Lower your Action expectations a little and get involved with the Film and you will be pleasantly surprised.
The Shadow Strays (2024)
Great Action Made By Timo Tjahjanto!!!
I Always find it Amazing how Timo Tjahjanto creates a Wild, Gripping, stylish Actionfilm with a low Budget. Hollywood can take a leaf out of his hat. You can make a good Actionfilm without a lot of GCI and a lot of Budget, but you just need good Stunt people and a good Director who still know their Craft.
For me it has Timo Tjahjanto made a Name for himself in ActionFilm ( Heatshot and The Night comes for us) and Horrorfilms (Macabre,Killers,V/H/S and May the Devil Take You).
Wherever his name is on it, you can always expect Brutal Action fare.
Not for the faint of heart!!!
The Fight Choreography can be seen in the Film.
A Mr. Wick would be amazed just by looking at it.
The Soundtrack is Great and really hits the spot, as do the Action scenes.
Action fans who love Brutal, well-crafted Fights and leaden Gunplay will have Fun with the Film.
Wij (2018)
It was Okay! The Script could have been Better.
I read a few Reviews where User said that the beginning was like a Pornfilm for them. I honestly wonder what they expected when the Story is about Friends who want to make Pornfilms. Then it has to be shown properly and Authentically. And if the Film contains short Pornographic Scenes where everything is shown in detail, then it doesn't mean that the film is a Pornfilm. The scenes were too short to call it a Pornfilm.
"Lars von Trier" "Nymphomaniac" and "Gaspar Noe" "Love" can almost be called Pornographic films. In the Two films there were many more Pornographic Scenes than here. But I still don't describe the Two films as pure Pornfilm.
"Wij" is a coming of age crime drama with a lot of Nudity and there are a short few Pornographic scenes at the beginning of the film . :)
Some of the Actors looked Pretty.
The Film tries to Provoke and to Shock.
Which the Film sometimes succeeds in doing.
The Protogonists don't mince words. Although in my opinion some of the Dialogue could be better.
Unfortunately, there were two moments in the Film that were so unbelievable that the Author should have done more research.
I don't even know if something like that ever really happened.
In the Film there is a Horror Accident where a few People lose their lives. The reason for the accident is so unbelievable that I almost had to laugh.
Let's see what the Accident Statistics say.
One scene really amused me. I don't want to give much spoilers but I'll just say "headphones". That was really the Best scene.
I was slightly excited and laughed my ass off at the same time, just like the Protagonists in the Film.
But overall it was okay.
If it weren't for the unbelievable scenes and a few bad Dialogues, I would have given the Film a 7, but unfortunately I'm forced to give the film a 6!
42 One Dream Rush (2010)
Art House Short Films that are Worth seeing.
If anyone ever Discovers the Film, feel Free to take a look. There are 42 short films made by 42 different Directors.
Have a running time of 1 minute.
And some Films manage to Impress you.
The Short films were made with a tight budget and some even with no budget, so don't expect much.
But still some Films are visually impressive and also very Creative.
There are One or Three clips that I didn't particularly like.
It seemed to me like some Directors had no ideas and just filmed something so as not to disappoint the Producer.
But Director Giants like David Lynch, Gaspar Noe, Taika Waititi, Larry Clark, Harmony Korine who still know their Craft and with little budget deliver Visual Abstract Art that knows how to inspire and leave you amazed.
James Franco's Short film was also very positive and surprising and Joe Coleman, who is unfortunately completely unknown to me, shot a clip that was so Abstract and Dark that I found it to be a bit of a Horror. To this Day I still can't get one Scene out of my Head.
I found Larry Clark's Short film to be the Funniest of all. He fused Women moans with Bruce Lee fight sounds and the Result was... I laughed in Tears.
Larry Clark is a Genius.
Anyone who likes Abstract and Crazy Art House Short films will definitely have Fun here.
Wrongful Death (2023)
Sooo Stupid!
This Movie is a cheap Saw imitation that doesn't have any good ideas. The Dialogues are stupid, the Characters are Boring and also stupid. You can tell that the Actors don't really have a Clue about their job. I gave the first 20 minutes a chance because unfortunately I didn't see the trailer. But after that all that came was rubbish for the bin. I watched the Trailer after the Movie and I got Angry because I realized that the Trailer showed almost the entire Movie. I can tell you watch the Trailer and you can say with confidence that you've seen the Trash.
The Twist in the Movie made me the most angry. I've never seen anything so unimaginative in my life.
The Positive reviews come from People who either have no idea what good Movies are or who simply worked on the Movie.
Plus Points go to the Beautiful Women who had to Show their Breasts to make the Movie more Worth seeing.
The Microscope (2022)
After the Short Movie you will never look through a Microscope again!
When I read the Title I Thought to myself, what else can you do that's so great with a microscope that you'll end up with a good horror short film? I was pleasantly surprised and at the same time I can get my dinner back. Definitely worth seeing for an entertaining horror film.
The disgust factor is quite high in the Film. My eyes hurt just watching.
Be careful when watching it, otherwise it can still be Eye-catching. ;) But it's worth taking a look.
The Actor delivered a good Performance; You can't play it better. I love the extreme close-ups in the Film.
The creative minds Elliot Vick and Reuben Vick got a lot out of a Microscope.
A bloody Horror Flick worth seeing where you close your Eyes at some Scenes.
Megalomaniac (2022)
Abyss of the Human Sick Soul!!!
It's a typical sick Brutal Horror Movie from France. We remember cult classics like "Inside", "Frontiers", Martyrs and "High Tension" and you can confidently put this film behind them. There are some Brutal and disturbing scenes. The Movie has a Dark Atmosphere from Start to Finish. The Actors aren't the Best, but they're trying Hard - Eline Schumacher does a very good job as a tormented victim and as a sick Psychopath.
This film shows a closer perspective between serial killers and his poor victims.
Be warned, the film is partly contemptuous of people. It's only for die-Hard fans of the Brutale Serial killer theme
Is not suitable for every viewer.!!!
Late Night with the Devil (2023)
Calling all Nightowls out there! These Special Halloween Episode bring Devilish Ratings!!!
This Movie uses the Old Classic Horror Elements and Themes that we have all seen before. This Movie doesn't actually bring anything new, but this Movie manages to make the Old horror Recipe enjoyable again. How did he do that?! Very easy! They Simply packed the Old Horror Elements into a
Late Night Show, added a 70s look, with good Acting, a pinch of Humor and a pinch of Trash and in the End it felt a bit New and Fresh. I wasn't really Scared by the Movie, but I was really Entertained by it. A Big Compliment goes to David Dastmalchian
who got short roles in very good Movies and here he can finally show what a good Actor he is. I think even without him as the main Actor the Movie would have scored a few minus points for me. David Dastmalchian really Shows a Good Performance with Charm and Humor. You can't complain about the great Directing work either. For a low budget horror movie looks the Movie really good.
Don't expect so many Blood and Scary scenes and in the End you will Experience a short Hellish Ride that you will Enjoy!
Suitable Flesh (2023)
Not as bad as I thought! Plus Points go to the Beautiful Heather Graham!
When I saw the metascore I was really excited for the film. But when I read the first bad user reviews, I lost my joy and avoided the film. Then came the evening when I had nothing interesting to watch and after much deliberation I decided to give the film a chance. And I have to say, the film pleasantly surprised me in some ways. Heather Graham alone is worth a look and if you know Heather Graham, you know she's not afraid to show a little more of herself. She is also beautiful to look at and for her age she can be seen in nude scenes.
I like actress Heather Graham and am always happy to see her in a film. She dares to do something, and if the script had a little more to offer, she could of course do more acting. Unfortunately, the story is not new and we already know it from some better horror films. Unfortunately you can't get much out of the story. If you know this beforehand, you can still watch the film once. The film seems rather exaggerated, funny and trashy
Horror comedy with some sex scenes that don't blow you away, but are still worth a watch because of Heather Gramma. The actors put in a little effort, but that's enough for an H. P. Lovecraft adoption that feels more like a comedy. I would have liked a little more blood in this film! And I have to say that the film was my first H. P. Lovecraft film and I had a bit of fun for a horror movie night. In the end, I didn't care enough to watch the film. I was also impressed by Joy Lynch's film work! Her directing style suited the film...but I still would have liked a bit more of a '70s look.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
...Overloaded with too many GCI Effects!!!
I'm a Big fan of the Mission Impossible series and I really liked every part that's why it was clear that I was really looking forward to the New Part of the Series Story. Tom Cruise Stunts always blow me away! It's clear to me that GCI was used in the last parts, but it seems to me that the new Part is completely Overloaded with GCI Effects and unfortunately the Action Scenes seem quite Unrealistic and Exaggerated. Okay, I can understand that the last action scene with the fast train is completely reworked in GCI and that's a good thing because without GCI effects it would be impossible to shoot the scene. For the chase scene, they could have done without GCI and shot the whole thing for real. The GCI effects in the car chase scene bother me! I Love Handmade Action Scenes where you can see that the Film Crew put a lot of effort and Sweat in the Action szene. John Woo did it in Part Twowithout GCI Effekts Well, for many People Part Two is a thorn in the Side, but John Woo still Created Action Scenes that you can still Remember today! The Story doesn't offer anything new either! The topic of AI programs is now discussed in almost all films. Don't get me wrong, the Film can be entertaining, and there are Action moments that excite you, but the rest of the Criticism points that I mentioned damaged the Film a Bit I Think this is the Weakest Part of the Film Series, and it has become clear to me that Mission Impossible could finally use a long break, Not that it Finally kills the Great Franchise.
Deadstream (2022)
Funny Dude VS EVIL!!!
How long I had to wait for this Movie until it finally came out in Germany. And today was the Day I was finally allowed to see him and I have to say I wasn't Disappointed! The Movie kept me Entertained until the End... There were a few Funny moments and a few Scary moments too. I think the Movie brings a bit of Freshness to the Found-Footage Horror. Joseph Winter and Vanessa Winter have delivered a good directing performance that is impressive. I'm trying to shoot a little short horror found footage in my free time and I can only say you can only learn from these two. I really liked Joseph Winter's funny acting, although I think some people might find it a bit annoying. Last but not least, a big Compliment to the Make-Up Team! It looked so Trashy disgustingly good that you can call it Art.
Nope (2022)
It's Nope Bad!!! ...I Like It!!!
I have to say, even if many people don't agree with me...I think Jordan Peele has risen to the Ranks of the Best Filmmakers of our Time. I think he did a very good Job Directing. The story and Dialogues are also well written. At the beginning when I saw the Trailer I was super hyped but then when the movie came out and I read the bad Reviews...I had to lower my expectations a bit.
I then watched it at home on DVD and I have to say if you lower your expectations you will be very Surprised and the Film will Entertain you very much. Afterwards I regretted that I didn't see the Film in the IMAX cinema. What nobody really knows is that the first Horror film was shot in Imax. Although you can say that the Film is not really a Horror Movie ... it looks like a Horror film but in reality it is an exciting Sci-Fi - Thriller of a different kind and there are a few scenes that seem Scary. But it's more the Suspense and the Mystery about the unknown Object that takes center stage. A lot of people were Disappointed with the ending but I was still pleasantly surprised....the movie felt Fresh New!
I thought the soundtrack in the Film was really well done... The Score fitted the film very wellew towards the End.
All the Actors gave a good Performance. I was really looking forward to Daniel Kaluuya I hope he will work more often with Jordan Peele in the future they will definitely make a good Team ala Scorsese and De Niro! ;)
I also liked Keke Palmer although her characters are a bit too hyperactive and like to talk a little fast.
The Movie is a bit slow in the first half but the movie picks up and towards the End it feels like a wild Thrilling good Ride.
As I said, it's an exciting Sci-Fi Mystery Thriller that takes a while to get going, but still keeps you captivated in front of the Screen towards the Second half.
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023)
Sir Guy Ritchie Dit it Again!
I Really enjoyed the Movie, I just love Guy Ritchie's style of shooting.... I was very Entertained by the Film
All the Actors played their Roles well, especially Jason Statham, Josh Hartnett, Aubrey Plaza and Cary Elwes.
I liked Sir Hugh Grandt's Badass Character and he played him Damm Good!!!
Anyone who knows and loves Guy Ritchie's handwriting will be thoroughly amused here. The right choice of Music was also a good fit.
In a nutshell, a Movie with Cool Funny dialogues, Solid well-made Action and Quick cuts.
But please don't expect any ingenious twists...tighten your expectations and you will be surprised.
Ghosts of Hiroshima (2022)
I was Surprised!!!
Guys you can believe me I'm a real Found Footage Horror-Movie Fan. ...I've seen almost everything! I had no particular expectations from the Film.
Unfortunately, it's a low-budget Film so you shouldn't have High expectations !!! ...But I have to say the Film does have a few Scary moments and you learn a little bit about the horrible story of Hiroshima how the US dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima. There is also a Ghost story on the subject that is very reminiscent of the Horror film "The Grudge".
Unfortunately, the film also has a couple of very Bad scenes... I found one scene so Badly done that I almost didn't want to finish watching the Film....but fortunately the Film turned around towards the End.
Backcountry (2014)
A small exciting Survival trip that you will not soon forget!!!
If you are Afraid of getting lost in the Forest without Food or Drink or afraid of hungry evil Bears then please give the Film a wide berth. This is a real Survival film that shows what can happen if you want to Prove yourself unnecessarily and make the wrong Decision.
The House of the Devil (2009)
Devil Ritual Horror with a Great 80s Look!
In good old Horror manners, Ti West brings the 80s back and in a really good way. If you look at the film like this, you could almost say that the film was really shot in the 80s?! The well-chosen suitable Music puts you in a Good Mood. Unfortunately, the horror builds up a bit too slowly, but you'll be rewarded for that in the second half. Believe me, the scenes that are a bit long will be worth it, just be patient. For me, the film is a little horror 80s nostalgia snack!
Psycho Goreman (2020)
Gore,Fun,Trash and Blood!!!
Whoever saw Steven Kostanski's last film - like his short film "Bio Cop" and "The Void" knows what to expect here. A wanted cheap trashy Power Ranger massacre with a good portion of GORE and HUMOR! ... which is really fun for a movie evening! Turn off your brain and enjoy the film;)
Status Quo (2019)
well done short sci-fi story!
The film entertained me quite well for 30 minutes.
The story is not new but surprises towards the end with a little ingenious twist.
Mariia Deikova und Elisabeth Derbay did very good directing work.
I would like to see more short films or longer ones from the two directors.
Farouk El-Khalili did a really good job. Unfortunately I don't know many good German actors but I can very well imagine Farouk El-Khalili in Bigger Blockbuster films. I would very much like to see him as a villain.
I think he would deliver a great performance
Phobia (2016)
a clever successful psycho thriller of the other kind ... made by India
Actually, I'm not a fan of Bollywood and the movies I've seen have either been too overkill or too bad. ... at Phobia I make an exception, it is a well-filmed film from the kitchen india and a very special food from the genre Psycho thriller that will not be enjoyed by all. ... Good moments of tension, a breath of horror and a main actress "Radhika Apte" which shows an impressive performance ... make the movie really worth seeing. ... Unfortunately, I am a bit disappointed with the twist at the end, I would have liked to have another end. ... The fim gets a 6.8 from me!
Nommer 37 (2018)
Fresh Authentic Thrill
The first half fades slightly, but in the second half the film gains more of its tempo and tension. Toward the end we are rewarded with a cool end ... you can watch the movie.
The Untold History of the United States: Chapter 9: Bush & Clinton - Squandered Peace and New World Order (2013)
It is one of the best parts and unfortunately also a shattering truth about our situation!
I love Oliver's stones documentary about the real American story! With facts and great video material, he shows us how the greatest war criminals of our time! George W. W. Bush, Bill Cliton, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donalds Rumpsfeld and the old drunkard Yeltsin not to forget!
The last part about "American New Century" and 9/11 brought a good thought ... which hopefully brings a few more people to think about the consequences!
Drudge (2013)
...Nice!!!
I first doubted a bit ... but I thought it was a great idea. His metal arm with which he shoots nails is already a cool idea .... the effects were not bad as I thought! .... I hope a DRUDGE 2 is already working;)
Us (2019)
Jordan Peele has done a good job again!!!
I imagined the movie a bit different ... but towards the end I'm still convinced of Peele Absurd's crazy story. The film entertained me a lot. Thanks to Jordan Peele, good direction work, good fresh story, great camera ride and the impressive acting performance of ... Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker ... there you can if you have a few logic mistakes, just press an eye;)
and the twist was something new and refreshing to think about!
P.S: ....it is best if you do not look at the trailer and go to the cinema without great expectations. This makes you more surprised about US!
Love, Death & Robots: Suits (2019)
... class action !!! ...just fantastic!!!
....Look like Pixar meets starship troopers !!! ...has entertained me from beginning to end like Pixar but more with blood ;)
