Car Masters: Rust to Riches (2018)
The amount of scripted scened and plots are tooooo much
Those who have given this a rating higher than 6/10 must not be the smartest bunvh because this show is incredibly scripted and acted, and very poorly at that.
I realize that almost all reality shows are manipulated quite a bit by the producers and directors. I know first hand that's how it is, and that was just a home remodeling show. As with the majority of reality shows, his one takes the scripts, bad acting and made up scenarios too far. If only theyçd just film the shop doing their thing, add some interviews and narration, edit and release, it would be a great show.
As for the fabrication side of it... honestly it's a bit rough. They can definitely do great work, because the show does showcase some, but the majority of the work they do is rough around the edges, some to the point of being embarassing. I mean orange peel paint finishes , lots of bondo with valleys everywhere, poor fit and finish of their cuwtom panels amd CNC work...it's pretty bad. They're clearly being rushed too much by the producers.
TLDR: This ahow is way more about scripts and pushing out content as fast as possible than it is about custom car fabrication.
Reacher (2022)
Teens will like it, as for aduly, the more intelligent your are, the less you'll enjoy it.
Not a bad show, but far from great. It truly doesn't deserve the high ratings it's getting. The acting and directing is quite poor, the dialogue is mediocre, and the story is fluffy.
Again, not a bad show, I'm watching it, but I'm also scrolling Reddit while I watch, because it's not a show that commands, or needs, your attention.
Pillow Talk (2022)
Very, very poorly wrotten and acted. Not funny, clever or insightful.
At the time of writing this review the ratings are at 7.3 after 13 ratings. I suspect those 13 ratings are from the cast and crew. Give it a week and it will plummet to about 4/10.
Locke & Key (2020)
Starts great, then gets lazy and kind of dumb
I'm a male in my 40's, I think most tweens and teens would likely enjoy the whole series. I thought it started great, then it became something I'd expect to see on the Disney channel.
The first 7 or so episodes are really quite good. Near the end of season one it's as though the writers got lazy and took the audience as idiots. There are a lot of continuity errors(mostly visual), the characters start making really unrealistic decisions, and the storytelling gets kind of messy. It just gets pretty stupid. The production value is quite high throughout the series, but it starts lacking in pretty much every other area.
It's too bad, I was pretty impressed and surprised with how good the show was, it was disappointing to see it get so dumb and lazy.
Yellowstone: I Want to Be Him (2021)
This season is a train wreck that just gets worse and worse.
It's one idiotic conflict after another. The plot hardly progresses because it's so pqcked full of stupid arguments and fights, every character gets more and more unreasonable and aggressive each episode. It's like the WWE produced a western. I don't know if I can even watch another episode, this season is a total trainwr.
The Tick (2016)
Great show
The bad:
-The main villain, The Terror, has a really
annoying voice
-The makeup could be better
The good:
Everything else.
It's the right amount of goofy humour and the storyline is good.
It's a good show, unfortunate it was cancelled.
Maid: M (2021)
Decent episode, weird montage
Not as good as episodes 1-5, but it's still great. There's a musical montage that's super out of character for the show, and it's pretty poorly done. Not sure why they decided to do a montage, really strange.
Big Mouth: Super Mouth (2019)
Great episode
They really used their imaginations on this one! And the underlying messages are more prominent than in most episodes. The longer this crew writes together the better it gets. I can't think of anything else I can say without layin' down some spoilers and I don't like doing that. I'll just ramble because it tells me my review isny long enough. I dont understand why people write reviews with spoilers. Who benefits from that? If you haven't seen it then spoilers will...spoil it... And what's the point in reading a review after you've seen a show? Spoiler reviewers make no sense to me.
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
The first couple episodes almost had me give up on it
Stick it out, the show gets progressively better.
It isn't as good as half the reviewers say, nor is it as bad as the other half say.
It's a light hearted show that won't give you many actual laughs, but it is cute and clever in a Martin and Short kind of way.
The storyline isn't very engaging at first, but it definitely gets a fair bit better after a few episodes. I almost gave up a bit into episode 3 but I hung in there. Episode 3 is a bit of a turning point, that's when it starts to get interesting. I'm now on episode 6 and the story has gotten quite good.
It's a decent ahow.
The Good Doctor (2017)
If you're into sappy dramas you'll enjoy this
Not a bad show, far too sappy for my liking but I'm rating it as if this was my jam. It's pretty well acted.
Sex Education (2019)
Regardless of age, you'll enjoy this show
I'm a 43 year old male and love this show. It's incredibly well written, well directed, and the casting is perfect. It's clever, funny, daring, heartfelt and insightful.
It's a wonderful show.
The Fades (2011)
This is surprisingly good, it's not the teen show I expected.
Religion and zombies, it actually works really well and is a good way to explain zombies. I'd love to see a longer series or a movie franchise based on that premise. The actors are decent, the writing is good, the direction is good.
It's a solid 7.5 in my opinion.
Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space (2021)
One long PR video for Space X
It's just PR for SpaceX in an attempt to sway the opinion of those who think billionaires using their money to go to space is irresponsible. That's all tjis video is. I'm not jaded either, I have no issue with people paying to go to space, I'm just calling it what it is. It's pure PR.
It's a It's boring as hell too. They go on and on about the backstory of the crew, interviewing their friends, relatives etc.
I watch a lot of documentaries on space travel and this is the first one that I thought was garbage.
I suspect the majority of the really high reviews are from bots programmed by Space X, and/or employees, friends and family members.
Untold: Breaking Point (2021)
I watched much if this with tears in my eyes and wish I could have given him a hug.
Hopefully most if you won't identify with this as much as I did. Regardless of the commonality that I have with him, this is a well eone episode and I hope many people watch it.
John Adams (2008)
Not my jam, but it is undeniably well done and deserves praise
Damn good docu-series and appears to be incredibly accurate in every way.
College Behind Bars (2019)
Feel good and enlightening
This was surprisingly good. It was a positive watch. I encourage everyone to watch it and hope that schools show it to their students.
For Life (2020)
Ignore the fake 10/10's and the mouth breathers who rated it 3/10. After my rant about the other reviewers I posted a legitimate review.
The reviews for this series are ridiculous:
- Tons of fake 9/10 and 10/10 ratings that should all be disregarded.
-Closet racists who don't think racial inequality should be acknowledged, which is an opinion that should have no bearing on ratings.
-Some reviewers are upset that he went on to represent inmates who were oversentenced, which should also have no bearing on the ratings.
-Mouth breathers who can't form a cohesive sentence, therefore their ratings should be disregarded.
-And there are a small handful of legitimate reviews from people that have brains in their heads.
Here's a proper review:
If you go into it expecting a fictionalized drama series done by ABC that strays VERY far from the true story, and that is the type of show that you're into, then this is an 8/10 series. I personally see it as a 7/10.
In true ABC style, it's over dramatized, has relatively weak direction, and it's kind of dumbed down for their target viewers.
The direction; The camera work is all over the place, for 30 seconds they overdo the shaky, handheld, first person camera work, then they use traditional camera shots for 2 minutes, then they flip back to first person, but not as exaggerated, it's all over the place. Also, they were given a cast with a lot of talent, but the directors did such a piss poor job that they failed to get a notable performance out of any of them, other than Pinnock, he did a hell of a job. It's actually the worst performance I've ever seen from most of the actors, fortunately a few of the supporting cast managed to pull off decent performances.
ABC shouldn't have even said this is based on a true story, they shot themselves in the foot by doing that. That set people up to go into it expecting a true, realistic story. If this was done by a network like HBO or Showtime it would have been better. It's almost a fantastic show.
Top Secret UFO Projects: Declassified (2021)
Shut it off after ten minutes because it quickly revealed that it considers all reports of alien contact os legitimate.
My title sums it up.
Guy from Roswell New Mexico says he came home and there were aliens in his sons bedroom and the show doesn't view the claim with any scrutiny whatsoever and claims it to be the first ever reported incident of alien contact.
Ok beleive in aliens, but I don't believe everything anyone says, whereas this show does.
This Changes Everything (2018)
Definitely a good message, the documentary isn't very well done though. Ignore everyone that is complaining that the director is male. He's also a main producer.
The documentary is kind of sloppy, definitely could have been done better.
That being said, quit complaining that a male directed it! The documentary is about promoting equality in Hollywood, it isn't about cutting men out of the industry. The director is one of the main crrators and main producers of the film, he is an ally, a feminist, and he should be applauded for helping to spread this message. It's not as though he used his own actuall voice to tell the story, women toldtheor own stories, he was just part of the team that made the film a reality, and that is not a bad thing. Like 90% of the cast and crew are female. It's not as though the producers were all male and hired an all male crew and didn't give women a voice. The unfortunate thing is that he didn't do a very good job, not that he has a penis.
In & of Itself (2020)
To call this a documentary about magic is doing it a disservice. This is unlike anything I have ever seen before.
This is insightful, inventive, introspective, moving and thoroughly entertaining.
It really is phenomenal and I urge everyone to eatch it.
Inside West Coast Customs (2011)
The show is basically just used to cross promote other companies.
The show is a big advertisement for whatever company is willing to give them money, whether it be Monster Energy, or Spy, or Alienware etc. Every single episode is full of product placement and plugging other companies. It's to the point where it REALLY takes away from the viewing experience. 30% advertising, 20% scripted scenes, and 50% fabrication.
It's the worst car show I've ever seen, and I watch a LOT of car shows.
Car Masters: Rust to Riches: Proof of Concept (2021)
Yikes. The episode is the same quality as the rest, buuut...
What they did to that Hyabusa is unfortunate. It looks absolutely terrible.
Car Masters: Rust to Riches: Taking the High-End Road (2021)
A lot of nice builds in the first two seasons
Then comes season three, what garbage work. Huge panel gaps, sheet metal screws exposed on the exteriors of bodywork, big runs in paint jobs, nasty welds.
It's too bad, they did a lot of nice work in the first two seaosns.
It's not too horribly scripted though, thatçs a plus.
Last Chance U: Basketball (2021)
Season 1 was surprisingly good.
I really enjoyed it. It was really well done and gives a good look at the professional sports factory that is the United States.
The coach should definitely be reprimanded for preaching to his players all the time though. That definitely shouldn't be allowed.
Last Chance U (2016)
Surprisingly good show. Terrible sports system though, shameful really.
So far I've seen seasons 1, 2 and 5.
The documentary is really interesting and surprisingly well done. It's really disheartening though. Talk about a horrible system that these kids come up in. Also, all the preaching done by the coaches is despicable. They should be disciplined for that, and fired if they don't stop. Lastly, the head coach in season 5 says a lot of terribly chauvinistic things that perpetuates rape culture. He often compares winning a game to having their way with a woman..."go out there and get that a**!!!" and something like "shove your dick up there and don't ask permission!" are a couple of the many things he says, and, of course, the players repeat and mimick that type of talk every time. Those quotes aren't verbatim, but that's the gist of it. That coach should be fired, it's terrible that he's been allowed to coach for 40 years.
The coach for East Mississippi (S01 &S02) is so verbally abusive ,it's unreal.
Good docuseries that highlights a lot of negative aspects of college sports, and there are MANY to highlight.
