Since Sicerio I've been all in on anything Sheridans name is attached to. Seeing what he's capable of from his incredible screenplays and films directed in the past, I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed thus far four episodes into Landman. Maybe its because I had very high expectations coming in with all the big name actors also included, but also venturing into the boomtown lifestyle after an amazing expanding venture into the ranch life.
But I feel like Sheridan is having a bit too much fun incorporating wasteful scenes with Tommy's Ex-wife, Ali Larter, and his over-the-top daughter, Michelle Randpolh, who was excellent in 1923. I don't see any of the subplot involving them adding anything significant to moving the plot forward.
Sheridan is best when he puts his foot down on the pedal of action-drama as seen in this second season Special Ops: Lioness or all of his previous dramas. Knowing what he's capable of it's fustrating but with only four episodes in i still have hope that he'll utilize Jon Hamm more and this show will lift off.
The mother daughter scenes together are very cringe and I hate to say it but Randolph is just way too over the top and I can't buy into her acting at all.
I hope this isn't another project for his own entertainment value as with tulsa king s2 turning into a comedy interrupted by brief moments of great drama (loved the first season).
I know Sheridan has his own umbrella and running so many shows but I wish he would focus on quality over quantity because this series has a chance to be excellent giving it gets serious.

It was very apparent even after just watching this series pilot that Collin Farrell has unlimited range and completely leaned into this character submering himself an a insanely level of mastery.
His eyes only display a very complex and difficult thing to pull off showing the type of menace Oz is but is able to tip toe the fine line between a maniac and a survivor with a soft side. I have to watch each episode twice finding that I can't help but be incredibly captivated by Collins performance. Physically---all around, only two episodes in, I'm very confident in saying he has created arguably one of the best villians. He makes this world feel so real and grounded. Engaging.
It's very evident that this series will continue to grow in progress and get better and better finally providing us with another HBO original dramatic banger we haven't seen in many years. This is single handley the best kind of rendition inside a world of a super hero franchise because despite its direct correlation with The Batman, it feels on par with a dark, gritty, mob show. I hope this series shows writers and directors how perfect it can be----however I do not think it would have nearly the same effect nor impact without Collin Farrell.
After watching the first two episodes, you will no doubt be convinced that any and all awards will be coming Collins way. You can't just create a character like Oz or the Penguin with just cosmetics and a fat suit. Oz displays his thoughts and his inner thoughts of trying to navigate this world by his ability to survive only with his eyes. His physical emmetgence into this character is captured in such a brilliant way just by the way he walks.
As for show itself, it's extremely watchable edited perfectly to provide constant riveting scenes to keep your attention.
The writing isn't rushed at all telling me the showrunners know exactly what they're doing and where they're taking us. The pacing is excellent as each episode continues building this shows underworld along with taking its time to flesh out character development.
Bravo to the whole team involved! But let it be known that this IS Collin Farrells vehicle and we're all along for the ride!

I've learned in the last couple of years not to trust or at this point, read critcis reviews, given how much I've enjoyed many shows/movies where critics give harsh or negative reviews.
This movie is another example. Is it great? No. But it's good and accomplishes what it sets out to: a great escape for an hour and a half from reality. It's enjoyable and offers scenes that will leave you laughing out loud. This is the kind of movie you'll notice you've been smiling while watching.
Nicole kidman is incredibly attractive and better than ever. Joey king turns in a great performance and Effron captures his character brilliantly portraying Chris Cole. This movie has A LOT of chemistry and is entertaining all the way through and that's what movies like this should be.
This Netflix original movie won't capture the world like 'Anyone But You' (excellent movie) but it will prove to be a successful rom-com.
Yes this movie does have some flaws but no enough so where it will distract you or take you out of it. Enjoy.
