It was obvious that Dandy Nichol's was very ill when the first series of In Sickness and in Health was broadcast. This was her final appearance.
Alf has managed to wrangle Christmas dinner at the church hall. He also connives to get money raised for charity by Arthur. As Alf is having Christmas dinner at the church hall, he might as well take his share of the money. Only for Arthur to feel the same a little later.
The same tactic is employed on Rita later. She plans to go to Liverpool to spend Christmas with her family. So alf feigns an injury and claims to have injured his leg.
Only Rita finds out at first hand when Alf parties like it is 1999 rather than 1985.
A good episode but it is notable that Johnny Speight recycled several of the gags from his earlier series Till Death do us Part.

Shades of Robin Hood. Art Carney is the guest villain for the start of the second series.
He is the Archer, who wants to rob from the rich and give to the poor of Gotham City. He decides to steal from the Wayne Foundation, about 10 million bucks.
The Foundation does give to the poor and the destitute. Although one of the administrators, Allan A Dale wants to be more circumspect in handing out the money.
Batman and Robin are early victims of the Archer's tricky arrows. He does wonder if the Archer and his merries are steeped in generosity.
It is a cod Shakespearean episode. I/m not sure that Carney is the right choice. Maybe the show could had got a British actor. The script feels lame as well.

It opens with the death of one of Pepper Anderson's snitch. It looks she was eliminated because she was talking to the police. At least she imparted some information to Pepper before she died.
There is a heroin smuggling ring and some air stewardesses might be bringing the drugs in. Pepper goes undercover as a stewardess with an airline.
Royster and Styles keep tabs on her. All of them are interested in who is bankrolling the drugs.
One of the people of interest is Tony Bonner (Larry Hagman) but he and his associates might be too crafty to pin down by the police.
Once again this is slightly grimy episode. You sense Angie Dickinson glams it up a little by going undercover.
Here the sidekicks play an instrumental part. Royster has a hunch.
