"Elysium" (2013) was a science fiction action film writen and directed by Neill Bloomcamp. This film wasn't as good as his first effort "District 9" but it's a good follow up nevertheless. It has gritty setting in utopian future, involving story and while characters aren't something special, they do work mainly because of good acting. What I didn't like about this movie was shaky camera - it was just to much for me. Elysium itself set in space looked very good due to some great special effects.
Overall, "Elysium" is good actioneer set in grity distopian future. Not great, but good enough to see it.

"The Outrun" (2024) is a story about young women that is trying to recover from alcoholism. And while the story is as old as the world, this particular story and movie is not. It's basically about recovery with a help of a nature - the one has get on the edge of the world to outrun itself in order to heal. I've personally experienced at some degree things with addiction shown in a movie, so i related to main character very quickly, wonderfully played by a great Saoirse Ronan. The cinematography of this film was wonderful, locations are harsh and beautiful at the same time. At running time 1 h 55 min never was i bored for a second. Directing was excellent and i really enjoyed the non linear storytelling, as we get to experience Rona's life from different time periods.
Overall, "The Outrun" is definitely a movie not for main audiences. One will connect with this film way more when having similar life experience, and although i won't recommend having that - I'm highly recommend "The Outrun".

"The Book of Eli" (2010) is a movie that is set in a post apocalyptic world. It's a mix between Mad Max world, The Road and every other post apocalyptic movies made with few twists which I won't spoil. This one leans in a religion theme as our main hero carries a Bible which he needs to deliver to West based on vision that he saw, and our bad guy played by the great Gary Oldman wants to get it with a purpose to rule using books world. It's an interesting premise and together with some stylish, one take shoots of action scenes makes this movie work. Set design is also great. What I didn't like was Mila Kunis - she wasn't on a part with other actors and basically is Mila Kunis playing Mila Kunis in a post apocalyptic world - but she looks great in those sun glasses!
Overall, "The Book of Eli" is a descent post apocalyptic flick with some twists on a formula. It does work to recommend it seeing once.
