Downsizing (2017)
Not what I expected...in a good way.
This film turned out to be better than I thought it was going to be. It was even quite moving in parts. Paul and his wife decide to 'downsize' but she backs out leaving him stranded. He's miserable for months then decides to take the plunge and get to know his annoying neighbour which turns out to be life changing. Feel good stuff. I liked it.
The ABC Murders (2018)
Not Poirot as we have previously known him, but...
Rightly or wrongly this was a story inspired by the original Agatha Christie novel rather than the story itself. Yes it was very different BUT I still found it very watchable. I watched it over 3 consecutive nights and wanted to watch to the end despite knowing 'who dunnit'. I was intrigued to find out about the demons Poirot was wrestling with from his past. It was a tad overlong though, I think two episodes with less padding might have been better, and why they didn't just make something similar with a new detective we didn't know is unfathomable as they made it almost unrecognisable anyway. It would have worked just as well as I thought John Malkovich was very good.
Romeo and Juliet (1968)
Sublime
Sublime in every detail. EVERYTHING about this production is marvellous, the acting, locations, scenery and costumes. It has yet to be equalled, let alone bettered.
Romeo & Juliet (2013)
The scenery, locations and costumes are gorgeous...but
Gorgeous scenery and costumes...but for the content 1 star just for the effort of turning up. If you want to see this done properly watch Franco Zeffirelli's film with Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting, now THAT one is spectacular.
