Blue Thunder (1983)
"You can hear a mouse fart at 2,000 feet!"
Roy Scheider and baby-faced Daniel Stern are a couple of police helicopter pilots who get their hands on a five million dollar prototype spy-chopper that's equipped with more custom gadgets than a heavily modified, technologically advanced Pontiac Firebird Trans Am!
It all starts out a bit slow, but by the time the boys hop in that fancy tech-chopper it brings us a second half that features some fantastic old-school stunts and impressive practical effects.
SIDE NOTE: This film also spawned a TV show spin-off that co-starred a pre-SNL Dana Carvey.
Sadly though, the series was canceled after only eleven episodes... probably because the theme song wasn't nearly as cool Airwolf's.
"This conversation never took place... if it gets back to me I'll deny it"
Paint (2023)
A blank canvas... that's how we all begin.
It's hard not to feel a little lost as we begin... but let's just take it all in... see what we can find... who knows... maybe the humor will find us...
Well, if it isn't Mr. Owen... Mr Owen with a frock of hair that looks like the kind of lush bramble that even Woodstock would be happy to call home...
What are you gonna share with us today, old friend? Perhaps some laidback humor that's mellower than a sedated duckling floating in a man-made pond of camomile tea?... When was the last time you heard somebody say something that interesting?
Or maybe, you're offbeat eccentricity will lull us in with a warm mahogany embrace... and then mildly amuse us with jokes that are subtler than a kitten napping in a fluffy pile of Australian wool sweaters...
Or perhaps your PBS hippy version of Ron Burgundy will simply drop off little setups that are like humor-leaves floating down a cinematic brook until they take root on a nearby shore and sprout into leafy bits of folksy chuckles.... I don't even know if that's how leaves work... but it sure sounds nice.
Life is full of many walks... and even as our paths must part... please know that you've filled my heart with abstract memories of Mount Mansfield art, sexy sandals, and souful fondue outings at the Cheese Pot Depot....
"Thanks for going to a special place with me... ...Carl Nargle."
In & of Itself (2020)
Emotional Arr
"...and knowing you won't believe me,
that's the only reason
I'm going to tell you the truth"
Derek DelGaudio has created something truly in & of itself...
It's conceptual, it's emotional, and it's wonderful.
Turn off the phone, turn off the lights, experience it and then tell me...
"What have you become?"
