Ground Zero (2010)
very bad low budget film
one of those movies you can tell in 5 seconds the 'sort' of movie it is: bad. i'm a big fan of indie film, and understand the difference between them and Hollywood productions. i also understand the difference between 'indie' and something worse than a junior college film class project. i won't waste your time with any description of the plot, it's not worth it. unless you enjoy ultra low-budget films without any style, talent or creativity, avoid at all costs!!! if you want to see a 'good' independent horror flick see: the last winter, the pact, triangle, the thaw, solstice.... these are examples of well made, yet low budget films. and of course, most horror films from europe are quality made.
Morning Glory (1933)
tired and boring clunker
i'm a big fan of classics and don't mind a movie if it's dated but this movie was just plain bad-even for it's time period. hepburn is good in almost anything but in this she's shrill and annoying. her performance a few years later in "stagedoor" (where she also plays an aspiring Broadway actress who assumes she's better than she is and somehow pulls off a star-making performance at the last moment) is such a better role. in almost ever scene where she's talking to someone she's over-acting and looking past them like she's having a delusional moment-talking to unseen and unknown person out of frame. it's hard to believe she's a good 'broadway' actress, because she's acting the same way ALL the time-even more so when she's off the stage than on. and when she gets drunk at a party and embarrasses herself she starts doing romeo & juliet and everyone gasps like it's so good and it just seems obnoxious. in short, i'd have been happier and like hepburn more if i'd never seen it. AVOID!
The House That Jack Built (2009)
very bad amateurish movie
everything about this film is cheap and low budget. the plot is confusing and incoherent. there's continuous poorly-done flashbacks in black and white that keep repeating again and again and do nothing to further the story-if anything they just confuse it more. the audio is tinny and sounds as if it was recorded with a cell phone. the songs are just horrible. the acting is a joke-even by the known 'stars' in it. it's one of those straight to DVD films that feels like it was made in one night. there's so many better indie horror films out there that can at least achieve the bare minimum requirements of what you would see on a television show. avoid at all costs.
