Lethal Weapon (2016)
A New Favorite!
When I first heard about this show my initial reaction was "ugh". Why would they take a great movie and turn it into a TV show?? But then I watched the first episode. Then the second. Then the third. And now, we are in the second season, and I absolutely love this show. They took the heart of the Lethal Weapon movies and somehow made it their own. This show really does get better week by week. The casting, is really actually perfect. I love everyone on this show. There is no weak link. The stories are amazing. It's fun, exciting, and emotional at times. I'm so glad I gave this show a chance, because now it's one of my favorites. I definitely recommend this show to every who loved the original movie series, and to those who just love comedy action shows. You will not be disappointed.
Me, Myself and I (2017)
What A Surprise!
I thought, OK. I'll give this show a chance. I love John, I like Bobby, so sure. I wasn't expecting a compelling show like this. It was funny, inspiring, and in the end it did make me cry. I'm sure not everyone will cry from the ending, but I'm willing to bet a few will. It was a good story. A great beginning. And I can't wait for the next episode. If you are looking for a new show, give this one a try. The first episode will not let you down.
Batman and Harley Quinn (2017)
I love Batman, but...
I've been looking forward to watching this movie for a while now. As a lover of all things Batman, I couldn't wait for this new movie. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. I didn't expect how campy this movie would be. I thought it was supposed to be along the lines of Batman The animated Series, which was mostly dark. But Batman and Harley Quinn feels like the complete opposite.
To start, a fart joke? Really? Do you see Batman being part of a fart joke? I don't. Then you have 74 minutes and you wasted almost 10 of those minutes singing. Very frustrating. The after credits were also a waste. It wasn't funny or relevant. The fighting at the bar (reminiscent of Adam West, love him), was also out of character for this series.
I wanted to like this movie, and some of it I did like. But it was too campy, and the abrupt ending was the final straw. Give it a watch to form your own opinion though. I'll probably never watch it again. Very disappointing.
Ablaze (2001)
Just watch City on Fire instead....
Let me start by saying how much I love disaster movies. I even love ones made by The Asylum. That being said, do not waste your time watching this movie. To start with, Ice-T, who has top billing, is only in this movie for about 5 minutes in the beginning and 1 minute at the end. Huge disappointment.
Second, about halfway through I started feeling deja vu. I knew I'd never seen this exact movie before, but why did it feel so familiar? There are two reasons for that. First, it has the almost exact same premise from a 1979 movie called City on Fire. From the refinery fire, to the hospital evacuation. Second, most of the scenes of the hospital evacuation and fire was actually footage from the same movie. You can clearly see the difference. One scene everyone is dressed in 2000 era clothing, the cars are from around that time, the firefighter suits are from that time, the hairstyles, etc.. Then the next scene you can clearly see how dated the film is, the hairstyles, clothing, and cars from the 70's. It's blatantly obvious and quite laughable.
My only question is, why would anyone make this movie if only to be lazy about it?? Don't waste your time with this. While City on Fire isn't the best movie ever, it's much better than Ablaze.
The Lake House (2006)
Great Movie!
The Lake House is a very touching love story. It was great seeing Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock together again on screen. If you enjoy love stories, this one is for you. I have some advice though. Watch it more than once! Trust me! When I first watched it I felt really confused at the end. I must not have been paying much attention. But, when I watched it a second time, it made so much more sense and I enjoyed it quite well. So, before giving it a review or discounting the movie altogether, watch it a second time and remember to pay attention. You will enjoy it.
Almost Christmas (2016)
Great Christmas Movie
First, let me start by saying I don't care what any of the other reviews say, this movie is great. Anyone who didn't like it obviously doesn't have very good taste in holiday movies. Did it make me cry? Check. Did it make me laugh? Check. Was it a warm holiday movie? Check. I don't really know what else anyone could ask for. Danny Glover was superb as always, as was the rest of the cast. I may not know them well, but I think everyone was really good in this movie. If you are looking for a heart warming holiday movie then give this one a chance. Yes, it may not be an instant holiday classic, but it definitely deserves a watch or two.
One Nation Under Trump (2016)
What was the point?
My first question would be, what was the point of this "documentary"? And I say documentary loosely because I have never seen something quite like this. The whole hour was just TV clips from Trump interviews and speeches. There was some voice over, but not anywhere near what you would expect. There are also places in the video, especially the end, where the voice doesn't match with what is on screen. This made it increasingly difficult to watch. I thought maybe this would be an insightful look into who Trump is and why, but all this video seems to be is one giant propaganda piece. There were no opposing views to it at all. I'm also wondering how there was a $25,000 budget, as the video contained all clips with little narration. I hope this wasn't a college project, because I doubt any Professor is going to love a "film" made up entirely of TV clips.
Lava Storm (2008)
One of the worst...
This is one of the worst movies I have ever watched. I have seen almost every disaster movie created. From SyFy TV movies, to major blockbusters, to everything from the Asylum, I really don't think any of them are as bad as this. I only watched it because I like Ian Ziering. But it just wasn't worth wasting 2 hours of my life. The plot was horrible. It made no sense. Lava every where, apparently all over the world, but no explanation as to why. The acting is horrible, some of the worst ever. The graphics are equally bad. I have to wonder who wrote this and why. The flashback scenes were not only horribly done but unnecessary. The whole movie just made no sense. That's all I can really say about it. It made no sense! Don't waste your time. It's not even worth a watch to laugh at. Luckily Ian Ziering is doing better now. And yes shark movies are better than this abomination.
Cell (2016)
Cell is NOT a zombie movie
Anyone who read the book knows this isn't about zombies. Zombies die and come back to life. This doesn't happen in Cell. Sure, they resemble zombies, but they aren't. So everyone saying this is a zombie movie please stop.
As for the movie itself, it was OK. I've been waiting 10 years for this movie, but I was a bit disappointed. The actors were good. I always like Cusack and Jackson together. But I think it should have followed the book a lot more. I know most movies rarely do, but this one needed it. The ending was really quite horrible, and honestly a little confusing. If the movie stuck with the book ending everyone, including myself, would have been a lot happier.
Meteor Assault (2015)
Not bad for a TV disaster movie
I don't know why the ratings for this movie are so low. It's honestly not a bad TV disaster movie. The graphics are actually quite good for a TV movie, despite other reviews. I mean what are you expecting? Big budget graphics? No way. But this movie does well. I've seen every disaster movie ever made and the CGI in this movie is far superior to most other TV disaster movies. Some were just laughable, but not here. The plot is a tad recycled, but a bit new. The acting was also good. I've seen bad acting, and this movie doesn't come close to bad acting. Great? No. Bad? No. Give it a try acting and decide for yourself. Anyone who likes disaster movies should appreciate it. Though I would have liked to see a bit more disaster scenes, I'm quite pleased with this movie.
Fire Twister (2015)
I have no words for whatever this was.
Wow! I just can't wrap my head around how bad this film is. And I LOVE disaster movies. Movies made by "The Asylum", yea I actually like them. But this? The graphics look like a two year old was in charge. If you are going to make a movie heavy on graphics, try investing in those graphics or don't make the movie! The plot is horrible. And the acting, really really bad. But I could deal with that if only the graphics were half way decent! I'd rather watch Sharknado then ever watch this movie again. Don't waste your time. I don't understand why this movie was ever made. I have literally never watched a disaster movie I hated this much.
