Praise This (2023)
Cousin sister makes the movie
Jess is the best character. She's the reason for the season. It was cute and enjoyable to watch. Better than some movies out these days. But seriously, Jess is the best character in this movie. Giggled throughout the whole movie because of her. The quips in it were pretty funny. Was not a fan of Chloe Bailey's character, idk too cocky. But I still love her and girl can sang <3.
Break every chain oil factory!!!! Break it and keep it broken.
Favorite line "cousin sister" and the two random ladies who play commentary remind me of the podcasters from pitch perfect. Honestly, their characters should've had a podcast with their commentary.
Black Cake (2023)
That ending?!?!
I would've rated it higher. I thought for the most part this series did a fairly well job portraying the book until the ending. Of course there were other things I would've like to have seen- mainly bunny and covey's reunion. But then the way they ended it with like a cliff hanger as if there were more to the storyline. The book ending was better and the ending of the show was getting there and then they had to add this little mystery to Mabel's storyline. Like are you continuing the series-are you pulling some weird crappy series like big little lies when this would've been a perfect one and done season series? In until the last 3 minutes, it was a beautiful series.
The Color Purple (2023)
Read the book & notice the homage to the broadway musical
Some of you never read the book or had the pleasure of seeing the color purple adapted to its broadway show. Thankfully, I have and it does a great job at putting the adaptation of the musical into a theatrical musical. Also, not sure how some of you didn't know it was a musical- every main actor in it is a known performer and singer....fantasia, taraji, Ciara, halle.... Also the previews were all singing clips.
There's definitely some difference in the book, broadway play, OG film, and this adaptation, but it was done well.
If you like musicals and love the color of purple (book or film), give it a shot with your mind open.
Grey's Anatomy: Silent All These Years (2019)
About time
Finally an episode this season that has made me realize why I love this show.
