Pride (2021)
Way to narrowly focused
It seems gay men especially white ones were just background figures. If you weren't trans, black or Lesbian, then you're not part of Pride history that's depicted in this series.
O sabor das margaridas (2018)
The killing of ...
... that sweet and nervous little dog Dori and the whole unnecessary sub-plot spoilt the first season for me and consequently I'm not even going to attempt season 2.
I certainly had no sympathy whatsoever for the main character for her laziness and selfishness in not returning Dori to the little girl who missed the dog so much.
Spanish producers should realise most Australian, British, American etc viewers do not appreciate gratuitous violence to animals even if it is 'just a movie or series'.
The Silence (2010)
The worst show I've seen for a long time
Stupid characters constantly doing stupid things. The actors must have been paid a lot to overlook the terrible script and direction.
Janet King (2014)
Loved the 3 seasons...
... but grew to hate the 'Janet King' character. There were much more interesting & likeable characters. If this was real life I pity King's children and their future psychological problems.
Undercover (2019)
Second season spoilt the show
After watching season 1, I rated the show 8 but forcing myself through the first 5 episodes of season 2, I dropped the rating to 6. Season 2 is just not in the league of season 1. I can't see myself watching the last 5 episodes.
Grand Army (2020)
So tired of 'old people' playing teenage roles
I've heard the excuses of why the producers do this but it doesn't cut any ice with me. Actors in their 20s playing mid-teenagers just spoils the whole show or movie.
And if this show represents the future citizens of the US then all is I can say is America will never be great again (if it ever was). The members of the CCP must be clapping their hands with glee.
Mr Inbetween (2018)
Loved it but.....
.... found it hard not to think of it as Aussie version of 'Ray Donovan.'
The main character having the same name didn't help.
Food of Love (2002)
Paul Rhys
Why did they have to make Rhys so creepy-looking in this movie? Did they him look predatorish because the movie was made in 2002 and the other character was 18?
Movie could've been so much better. Acting, script etc bery amateurish. Overall pushing to give it 3.
All American (2018)
High school kids?
Why do US producers insist on casting actors in their mid-20s as high school kids? Totally kills the illusion.
The King (2019)
Disappointing
I gave it 6/10. 5 of that was for the set designers and builders and the costume crew. Chalamet just didn't earn his selection for the part.
Looking for Alaska (2019)
Ultimately disappointing.
By the end of episode 5 I would've rated this 10. However from episode 6 it was all downhill. Episode 8 was just plainly silly and I force myself to finish it. So 5/10 it is.
Jongens (2014)
Unrealistic
Are Dutch teenagers of that age really that slow in 'getting on'?
The film felt more like a boy/girl romance.
Beyond Kokoda (2008)
Now on Amazon Prime AU
Well worth the time to watch. I don't think I could've endured the conditions. Lest We Forget.
What/If (2019)
Trash that you just don't want to take out to the curb
"Like sands through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives."
For those that don't recognise the quote it's the opening line from the soap "Days of Our Lives" which has been running non-stop on American TV since 1965.
Now that I've watched eps 3 and 4 of "What/If", I've realised that it is written, directed, filmed, acted, scene-lit etc just like a soapie. It has that artificiality that is the trademark of soapies such as "Days of Our Lives", "As the World Turns" and so on. Even having Gabriel Mann in the cast playing almost the same part as he did in "Revenge" adds to the effect. The over-acting of Renée Zellweger is almost comedy.
All of which surprises me in that I want to see this through to the end. There's enough of a mystery to keep me interested and ignore the production qualities.
