Black Snow (2022)
A typical 2022 story
This murder drama is dark look back on the murder of a young teenage girl.
Travis Fimmel plays the main lead, the detective. Tempo is slow and melancolic and released in 2022 heavily racial, pushing racial guilt on guess what people..., mentions of blm and so on. Hypocricy is ripe in this aussie production.
I dont know why this series was made but to push the message. Travis does a good job at keeping the interest up along with a decent script but in the end its a sad story that wont make anyone happy.
The production is generally good though, except for the message and the typical lame story.
6/10 and Travis lifted this all by himself from 3 to 6.
Landman (2024)
Rude brutal depressing
Billy Bob Thornton is the main character for this series and he plays himself, pretty much. The dialogue from his character is generally rude and hostile, delivered in different kinds of catch phrases.
The scene of the series is the oilfields and the desolete open flatlands of Texas. Its a harsh barren environment, windy, sunny and unforgiving.
The series doesnt paint an attractive picture unless you like it rough, cold and depressing.
One scene in the first episode Billy Bobs character has damaged his pinky finger, but when confronted with a helping doctor planning to put his finger back together, Billy Bobs character says he rather cut it off himself than have a few months of revovery.., then he cuts it off himself and throws his finger in the bin..
I dont know what the producers are aiming for here but this pshyco stuff doesnt fly with me.
The story and writing is the problem. Outside of this the series is decent quality production.
5/10.
Lioness (2023)
Well made cia propaganda
Season 2 of this hardcore cia op style series continues mostly like the first season. Its black and white and killing is on the scedule and the only remedy to worldly problems. Its harsh words and hierarchal to the core.
Whats new for S02 is several scenes of two people attempting to have deep conversations. Likely to humanise the cia killers and the cia's existance to the viewer. It generally fails though, I had to skip over these scenes because it was too cringe, disingenuius and booring. There are also many scenes trying to justify the bloody activity we are presented with, but it doesnt impress or convince imo, not even when every bad person is depicted as the devil himself.
The production, 'per usual', comes with "the message". We have scenes with 120lb women that knocks out 200lb men, the usual diversity hires, female soldiers and all White males are depicted dumb, silly or bad. So if thats not at your liking, you are likely to downgrade this.
With that said, this is a well made production and the acting is generally very good, the camerawork, scenography, sound etc is good. Its just the story that sometimes doesnt quite cut it. But overlooking that its a fairly good watch when you have nothing better to do. Just beware this is cia/mossad propaganda and fantasy, not reality.
7/10.
Bad Sisters (2022)
Sisters stand by eachother
This crime drama series is played out in Ireland where we get to follow the lives of 5 sisters who stick together in thick and thin. Aparently history catches up to one of them and they all mobilise to protect eachother.
The story is kinda lighthearted while serious and insiduous.
The sisters are all very different in looks and life but share their loyalty to eachother. One of them is a lesbian and throughout the series 'the message' are inserted directed at the viewer in what looks like a way to shame straight White males.
The pace is quite fast and the story is rather simple but for a slow night this can keep you company.
Directing, acting, camera, scenography, sound and music is good but not outstanding.
5/10.
Gladiator II (2024)
High hopes where not met
Almost immidiately I get a booring feel, the movie starts with the aftertexts and some bad tune and badly synced noise. When we finally get to see some action a few min in, the unsynced timing continues and when some fighting begins the fighting scenes are really sloppy and poorly executed. Its booring and unconvincing. A few moments later the lead actor see his wife die and initially acts distressed but a few moments later hes all happy as if nothing has happened. Hes also smiling too much as if he is just on a movie set.., which he is but...well.
It does not get better as the movie proceeds. The story isnt motivating, the actors arent convincing and although seemingly a big budget production
this thing lacks any serious attempt of creating something great. There simply isnt anything that will sweep you away in emotional tears or excitement.
Sadly or probably expected, this movie comes with a message. Its in the casting choices but also the character types. Why the industry keeps pushing this when they know it isnt apreciated is just another sign of a bad production with the wrong producers.
Short clip throwbacks to Gladiator and repeit behaviour, cant save this thing, it just soils the masterpiece movie Gladiator, which is a 10/10.
This movie might not even be worth watching. I deem it 5/10 and Im probably generous.
The Lincoln Lawyer (2022)
A series with "the message"
The lincoln lawyer has reached S3 and continues in the same manner as previous seasons. The "lawyer" played by main lead actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is doing lawyering through tricks and traits not always by the law and keeps the viewers attention pretty well. Its overall a decent storyline with good script that is quite enjoyable for a lazy night home. To add to that the series is visually played out in a sunny LA-setting wich can be lifting for the spirit.
Unfortunately S3 also carries the bad from previous seasons, with some bad casting choices like the actors of a gay couple that really underperform to the degree its embarrassing to watch making fast forward a blessing. The story although generally good also makes an attempt of some deep emotional dives that just come out as cringe bcs they just dont fit and are not believable.
The show also comes with "the message". Most lead actors are not White and when a White actor enters, hes either displayed as dumb, evil or weak. The one White woman of the main leads are of course a career driven childless woman basically playing a man and her husband is playing the womans role. All the black characters are of course displayed as geniouses and idols. The main black lead actress walks like charm in high heels while the White woman stomps around like a stumbling chicken, looking like a clown. The female judge of the main case wears a nose ring.. and so it goes on.
6/10 but it could easily be so much better without "the message".
The Diplomat (2023)
2023 diversity push
This series is from 2023 and starts off With 4/10 main characters being gay and 3/10 being black. The diversity push is in your face from the getgo.
Acting is great as is the directing, music etc. Its a high quality production.
The story plays out in Spain circling a gang of brittish diplomats trying to help out brittish citicens in trouble. There are internal and external storylines making it an interesting watch. With that said I cant help being annoyed with "the message" being pushed in your face. There are also elements of feminism and anti w racism.
Ignore that and its an easy watch.
6/10⭐
Lonely Planet (2024)
Everything is fine forget the past sheep!
A seemingly exotic trip to Marocko for a gathering of best selling authors turns into slight adventure and romance between an elder woman and a younger man. Laura Dern looks very well and act young for her age though.
The acting is good and the actors are eyecatching people. Same with the directing and the story, so its easy to digest and relax while watching this movie.
The movie is also clearly selling Marocko to the audience with spanning shots of the landscape and friendly people. I guess they only behead a couple random backpacking nordic white women in their sleep now and then so maybe its worth a shot.
There is also a clearly diversity and feminism push but if you can ignore all that this movie can be slightly enjoyable bcs its well made.
7/10.
Doctor Odyssey (2024)
Joshua Jackson does george clooney
Joshua Jackson does george clooney in the E/R on a boat. That seems to be the concept of this series. Joshua Jackson got the greyish hair, the george clooney voice and charm, heck he is a spitting image of george clooney, its quite amazing actually.
The other lead actors are miami vices Don Johnson and fresh face actors Phillipa Soo and Sean Teale. Acting is overall good, but the story has so far not made any room for anything challenging. Its been very simple, quick and superficial.
The story is as mentioned quite uncomplicated. Its slightly sitcom-ish and surrounds the emergency medical staff on a cruise ship.
The good of this series is its freshness and elegance. Its easy to digest.
The bad is that its too simple, too lighthearted. The characters are very much caricatyrs and not acting like real people. I for one prefer realness above actingness. This production also comes with 'the message'. Its everything from pro covid propaganda to, trans and other stuff.
Oh yeah, since the story takes place on a boat mostly at sea, the storyline is somewhat limited and most of the photage never give away that its played on a boat and it gets kinda stuffed and closed in.
6/10.
High Potential (2024)
The last of the mohicans ..2..?
In this mini-series we get to see that a misfit White mom with an IQ of 160, who had kids with a latino and a White submissive home dad, can be a Karen in a police station.
Its really liberating to see a White woman being an ally with black, asian and latino people while being a Karen and getting away with dissing the Whites.
Its a VERY diverse movie, almost everyone is "diverse" and when a token White guy appears hes either dumb, weak or evil. So great.
Whats even better is that you can see the actors are also diverse in all ways so its a VERY inclusive movie, unless you are a White guy that is.
I loved this so much I gave it 1/10.
If you like this you are probably VERY diverse and inclusive, in other words, a really good human being!
Wolfs (2024)
"Wolfs".., more like clowns
G. Clooney usually comes in hard, and performs 100% but not this time and everything is off. The intro, the music, the action, it does not fly.
Same with B. Pitt, hes just not engaged, nothing in this movie is engaged. Its off, its booring and lame.
Its suppose to be a dark comedy and it sorta is, its just not a good one.
Maybe its the times, maybe its the shots theyve been taking that destroyed their minds but whatever it is, this is a B-movie with used to be A-list actors.
Story: predictable and nonsensical
Music: Unengaged
Camera: Bad angles, you notice the camera moving
Acting: Unengaged
4/10 and thats me being generous.
The Union (2024)
Everyone is tired .
The union is a B-movie. For starters the cast is not seriously engaged in their roles or the acting. The acting is blasé and unconvincing across the entire cast. Halle Berry looks and acts like a bitter, angry, tired middle-aged woman. You can see its her real life shining through. She lacks engagement in her character and is seemingly unable to be anything but her IRL self. She struggle to walk in 2 inch heels and moves like a refridgerator. Shes also rocking a mommy bod and a teenage boy hairdo.
Mark Whalberg is the strongest actor of the cast even though he plays the same character that he always do, same mannerism, same style, same everything. I mean, give the guy a different haircut or something.
The story is predictable, lame and not convincing. Marks character for example, is kidnapped and when he wakes up in another country hes not upset, angry, afraid or anything alike, he just takes it on the chin and acts like a sheep. Why the kidnapping was necessary is never adressed but its clear it was never necessary and seemingly the result of a lazy written story.
'The message' arrives 1 hour 3 min into the movie, Halle, scorches Mark for having a father that she accuse didnt like her bcs she is black.. 🙄
The music, sound and the visual aspects are okay, but far from good. The directing is okay but also far from good. There is really nothing that can lift this production to a level where you rather watch this movie than doing pretty much anything else. Its booring, dull and with an anti swan message. Avoid and do something better with your life, anything will do.
4/10⭐
The Killer (2024)
The killer - a mix of Nikita and The Matrix
The bad
This movie continues the legacy of pretending women are equal or stronger than men, that a 100 lbs woman can toss around and beat 200+ lbs men. The leads are also of the "diverse" kind and the main villain is White. So far goes 'the message' of this movie. There are also several inconsistencys that makes you go 'lol' but its not a kill shot.
The good
The story is simple but with enough twists to make it interesting to watch. The acting is also quite good as is the music and the picture, but the directing is really what makes this movie worth watching, its the camera angles, the closeups and the way it follows the story, its great. The fight scenes are also really good and slowed down so you get to see what happends.
With that said, this movie is quite forgetable, there is no real depth or unique displays that sets this movie apart, no exciting sex scenes, show of skin or mind, your eyes will stay dry and your heart wont jump or race, but it can keep you happy in a dull moment.
7/10⭐
Alien: Romulus (2024)
A copy of the original. See the original, its better.
I was hoping for some new twists, some exciting developments, deep messages or strong emotions but was served a clone of the first Alien movie and nothing more. Alien Romulus did a good job at copying the imagery/picture, the sound, the story and the action of the first Alien movie. Its spot on and would be good if it was the first Alien movie but it isnt, so its predictivea and booring which makes it a waste of time. To add to that the acting fails miserably. The actors are young adults in their early 20s with nothing to show for and this doesnt help. The first Alien movie has so much more depth and thrilling twists that Alien Romulus never comes close to.
Alien Romulus never comes close to the first Alien movie on music, acting, storyline and directing and thats why this only get 5/10 from me. Its not a B-movie but its pretty close.
Wild Wild Space (2024)
Is it a reality comedy or a fake documentary?
This thing, whatever it is, seem more or less fake to me. Its like they tried to make a copycat production of Elon Musks life but with other characters.
From start to finish it comes off as some way to steal attention from Elon Musk, some kind of takedown of Elon Musk, a cia production a la information war.
The main characters are described as nerds and certainly looks like it and acts like it, but it also seems to be very much an act. The viewer are peppered with fast clips that seem to lack reality but are attempted to sell themself as reality. For example we get to see fast clips of flashbacks of these main characters past where they are pretended to do crazy stuff in 2006 but filmed with a videorecorder from 1970, it doesnt add up.
This thing is selling you brainwash and lies, its clearly a deep state production to deceive the youth of a false reality.
2/10.
Daddio (2023)
64yo sean penn hits on 35yo dakota johnson
The movie plays out on a taxi ride from the airport to the city.
The taxi driver is played by sean penn and the passenger is played by dakota johnson.
Its a sleeping pill. Seans character cant stop talking to dakotas character bcs hes clearly attracted to her. Dakota is hot but she is messing with some guy who is treating her like no more than a body. The message seems to be that old men aint so bad.
Music is thrilling and sensual and the best part of the movie. Dakota looks great and different, Sean cant escape age and looks old no matter the youthful haircut they put on him.
If you want to sleep, I bet this movie can help.
Force of Nature: The Dry 2 (2024)
Eric Bana is a great actor,
This is no sequal, its just another chapter. The first "The dry" was a real hardcore drama thriller and brought strong emotions, this one has slightly less of that and unfortunately more about diversity push. Although that might not be why this movie is slightly not as sharp as the dry, its kinda obvious. The cast of this movie made in Australia has two african women in the lead roles.
Eric Banas acting is on point, he carries this movie alone but the rest of the cast are doing a great job as well.
Camera, scenography, sound and music is great, whats missing is that extra leg of buildupp that creates that strong tension and release. The story is just not as great as the dry. But it is a good movie and it is a worthy thriller to watch.
8/10.
Mother of the Bride (2024)
I was expecting forced diversity in your face
..but it wasnt that bad. There is a diversity push though but not irritating.
There are two characters that are gay but they dont come off as if that is their main characteristic. Brooke shields have a daughter she obviously had with an asian bcs her daughter is of mixed race. Brooke Shields characters old flame is also latino as is the groom.
Anyways, acting is overall great. The script is good and the story flows naturally as is the social interactions between the characters. I also enjoyed that it plays out in the tropical Thailand. Its such a warm and beautiful place. Camera and sound was great, I didnt even notice it, as one shouldnt.
Its a feel good lighthearted comedy and easily enjoyable.
7/10.
Atlas (2024)
Wrong lead but decent CGI
I kept asking myself throughout the movie wether Jennifer Lopes character was adapted for her or if Jennifer Lopes adapted to the character.
The story is that there is a war between humanity and a rogue AI. We get to follow Jennifer Lopes character attempting to destroy the rogue AI.
There is a lot of dialogue between what is portraited as the good AI and Jennifer Lopes character and this is where the problem happen in my opinion. Her character is so immature, entitled and emotional that it ruins the movie. This is because it isnt believable that someone of high intellect would act like that and its just annoyying to watch.
The dialogue between Jennifer Lopes character and the good AI also seems like an advertisement for AI because the movie is portraiting the good AI as a loyal human friend.
The best part of the movie is Mark Strongs acting and character. He has a small role but does it well.
The CGI is great and camera, music and sound is just fine. So you will experience some nice sci fi watching this.
6/10 For the CGI.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
The prequal to Fury road that noone asked for
I wasnt expecting much having seen the trailers with Chris Hemsworth goofing around in his usual comedic style. His nose prostetic and dark eyes didnt make things better. Why they decided to costumise him that way is a mystery, but I think it made the movie look less serious.
The movie is as mentioned a prequal to Mad Max Fury Road. We get to see what led Furuosa to that point. Why would that be interesting you might ask, well the only reason I can find is to promote the idea that women are equals or better than men, because that seems to be the theme of this movie. Men are shown as incredibly dumb in a chaotic world where they are dying like flies in an endless stream.
Acting is decent but there isnt much of it. Everyone are either playing someone mentally challenged or carry a stoneface. The focus of the action is mostly on things blowing up, men dying, car and motorcycle chases and the rare occasional dialogue between the mentally challenged.
Camera is excellent though, we get to see wide shots matched with closeups when its relevant. Scenography is also good. Music and sound isnt much of anything but it does its part.
The story is this movies weak point. Its shallow and pointless.
What would make you want to watch this movie might be Anya Taylor-Joy but you wont see much of her. Shes played by other people in the first one third of the movie and later she is mostly a covered up stoneface, so thats that.
In summary I fail at finding this movie interesting. There is no beauty in the movie, just savagery and depravation.
5/10 Not rememberable.
Dark Matter (2024)
Another multiverse story
Im no fan of these multiverse themed stories and this series is no exception. You get to follow a man who gets lost in existance trying to make sense of the world he lives in. The goal is ofcourse to find himself back to his original life, the road there is a lot of conflict and problemsolving.
Acting is not convincing, not even the actors are inspired by this story it seems.
Camera is a lot of closeupps in your face, which is anoyying.
Scenography is dark and dull.
I just cant bother. There is nothing exciting or interesting with this series, nothing is beautiful and everything is annoying. The forced racial diversity and gender push is the death sentence.
Not even Jennifer Connelly can lift this dump.
3/10.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024)
Planet of wasted time
When the concept movie came on screen in 1968 with Charlton Heston, Linda Harrisson and others, this was a sci fi horror movie, as was the sequal in 1970. There where strong characters and sexy women. Since then there has been numerous movies with the same theme but imo the movies have shifted into politics about race and gender making men and women gender neutral. This last one doesnt seem to have any message or purpose though, other than wasting time.
You will only see White humans until the last minute of the movie, which is odd. I wonder why..🤔
Most characters are cgi-made apes and its quite good, except if it was mere humans, I dont think the acting wouldve been considered good. Its unnatural and slow.
I found this movie very booring, I couldnt find anything interesting. Its a complete waste of time imo.
3/10.
The Veil (2024)
European homeland
This series starts out with the main character setting up and sending a man off to jail. The main character is played by Elisabeth Moss and her character cant stop grinning.
This series has only aires two episodes when I review this but you can already see what kind of production this is. You are suppose to believe a 160 cm, 120 pound woman who is also unfit, can beat up women and men of 200+ pounds coming at her with big knives as if its a walk in the park. Its not believable since size matters, gender matters. She is also extremely bossy and acts like she owns the world wearing constant lipgloss and perfect hair.
Per usual the men are weak, pathetic, childish and bad, especially the White males. The exception is a few racially diverse characters that are ofc, the best of all men.
Its almost like Elizabeth Moss just took a step out from the Handmaid's tale series into this, because she basically plays the same role.
The acting is decent, Im not sure about Elisabeth Moss though since she is constantly grinning. Camerawork, scenography is fine, the story is not. Its like a feminist tale. The story have a fast tempo though which is welcomed.
4/10 If you love forced racial and gender diversity and feminism, this show is for you.
Shinobi no Ie: House of Ninjas (2024)
A comedy take on ninjas in 2024 Japan
This series is like a flashback to the 50-90s heights of moviemaking, there is NO forced racial or gender diversity push. This alone makes this series great. Japan gets to be Japan with its unique culture, customs, behaviour and natural human life. Men get to be men and women get to be women. Its so refreshing and makes you experience the richness of humanity and not this constant social engineering message crap.
Acting is great and its really fun to see japaneese people be japaneese. Their limited mimic and kinda strict rulebased behaviour. It reminds slightly of the Shogun series.
The fighting scenes are also amazing, such great choreography. Even the slicing sound as unatural as it is, adds comedy to the series.
The reason I only rated it 8⭐ is bcs as good as it is, the story and scenography could be slightly richer and more exciting. Im talking about more visual beauty, more emotion and higher stakes between the characters.
I recommend!
Shogun (2024)
Japan as it where
This historical drama is well made. I dont know if the budget is big but the production is very serious and has done a very precise depiction of the japaneese culture and customs at that time. What stands out the most to me is the cultural behaviour of that time that is very distinct and rigorous. Its actually at par with the story as the highpoint of this series.
The acting is fenomenal. Everyone does an amazing job and its a real treat to watch the actors act out the japaneese culture.
Camera and sound is hardly noticeable because the timing of everything is so good that you are so into what you watch that you dont notice the music.
The diversity aspect have been heavily cut down, thankfully.. but they couldnt leave it all alone. The main character, the anjin(englishman) is half armenian, half english, but thats pretty much it. I guess the diversity aspect only have to apply to White peoples productions..
The story is allright but kinda slow and not the series strong part and also why I gave this 8/10⭐ and not 9.
I recommend this but beware of the slow tempo.
