One by one, the names in the book start to die off, their deaths appear to be accidental, but Taggart is clear that he's looking for a serial killer. Fraser is given an ultimatum, and forced to assist in a large robbery. Jackie pursues a name on the list.
Excellent once again, it's both intriguing and action packed, there's so much rich content here, Danny's bike scene for example is an excellent moment, they probably had just one take to try it spot on.
Taggart's scene in bed with Jean was a scream, the pair were just so natural together, you could almost believe that they were husband and wife.
I thought Ron Donachie was very good here as Cellini, he really did stand out, in terms of charisma, he packs a punch.
It's almost hard to look at a courier from the 1990's, and not compare them to a current day Amazon driver.
Jackie does not look happy with Doctor Crawford, he's a good looking guy, but boy oh boy is he boring, who goes on a date to talk about the weather?
Did he kill his wife?
9/10.

Sergeant John Fraser has radio failure during an attempted raid on an art gallery, The Police fail to land the miscreants. During the raid, Fraser's wife Julia, a dancer at a Nightclub is brutally killed. A book of names is found in Julia's room.
Death Benefits is definitely a favourite, it's a great first episode, fast moving and energetic, but deep and complex, there are so many strands, so many threads, but it's cohesive and rash to follow.
It's very, very well made, it has a real air of quality about it, it looks and feels great, I'd definitely class this era as one of the show's purple patches.
It features one of the most hilarious one liners, 'Michael, you don't wear fancy knickers to go highland dancing, do you?'
Mark McManus as always is just wonderful, what a charismatic actor he was, in terms of Detectives, Taggart is up there with the best.
Alexander Morton is excellent here as Fraser, an excellent performance, he always just seems to look like a villain, he's excellent in early episode, Dead Ringer.
Renault 19 Convertible, that really was a gorgeous car, way ahead of its time.
Great start.

Sally Maitland leaves behind her family, for a new life in Halifax, Canada. Having lived in Germany for some time, Sally is seen as a Nazi sympathiser, mistrusted even by her nearest and dearest. Sally is watched throughout her journey.
It's an enjoyable enough spy thriller from the 1940's, what makes this film all the more interesting, is the fact that it was made in the middle of the second world war, so it's somewhat different to the films that were made at the end of the war.
It's well made and well acted, it's a very attractive looking film, and definitely an interesting story, the burning question you'll have going in, is Sally a Nazi sympathiser or not, it doesn't take too long to work it out.
Anna Neagle and Richard Greene are both excellent, a hugely glamorous duo, both of whom had a real screen presence, both were excellent, I can't help but think the film was stolen however, by Margaret Rutherford, a small role, but a hugely effective one.
