What a freakin' joke. I get about nine minutes into the first episode, and I just had to stop there. Unfreakin' believable. Why? The episode (and series) is set in 1977 (part of my generation), but the dialogue is sooooo present day, with all of the present day slang and curse word sayings. Absolutely ridiculous. Let alone the totally unbelievable opening scene, as well as the open marijuana use. Drugs were considered major crime back then, so any open smoking of a joint on the street is just impossible to believe. Like, is this series supposed to be a parody....like Brooklyn Nine Nine? If you are an intelligent human being, then don't waste your time with this garbage. A total waste of production funding. A slapstick concept, proving the point about Hollywood..."It's not what you know, it's who you know". Entertainment is one thing, but this....? Goes to show that a good story can easily be ruined by writing and direction. Not surprising given the quality of workmanship coming out of this generation today. Cheap, cheap, cheap. They make too much money for next to zero effort.
OMG I couldn't watch past the first fifteen minutes. The acting, dialogue, and directing is soooooo bad. I had some hope when I saw Robert Patrick, but that fizzled out during the next scene. I get the impression that this is a high school production, put together with high-end video cameras and lighting. Sadly, with costs as high as they are now, especially when dealing with unions, this could be the production of the future. Gone are the high quality directing, acting, and dialogue of days gone past. An actor is only as good as the director guiding them.
This could be a great plot...I don't know, and I'll never know, because I just can't watch such a low quality production. Boooooo.

I caught this show by chance. A news promo came out about great shows that you're missing, listing Bosch as one of them. After episode 1, I was in awe. Kinda like I felt in the first few moments of Star Wars way back when at the drive inn when it first came out. All of Bosch is filmed on location. That alone is incredible these days. But the acting, dialogue, and writing...all superior. The first season is mostly about the policing routine of homicide detective H. Bosch. Later on in the following seasons, we get to see more personal drama. I'm not a fan of such, but it was still well written. My position is that if you can watch a series more than once, it is good. I've watched this series 3 times now. It is that good. Better in the beginning, but still quite awesome all the way through. And now we have Bosch: Legacy. Season 1 I have watched twice already. It is very good as well.
