This one has edward woodward and john hillerman as holmes and watson. Moriarty has escaped his fate once again, and it's up to holmes to track him down. It's okay, but woodward is such a serious british actor, and rather unknown to me. The story is solid enough, but woodward is so vanilla, that it wasn't as fun to watch as other sherlock holmes stories. Maybe they should have reversed the roles for hillerman and woodward for the murrican audience? Co-stars anthony andrews and peter jeffrey. It's okay. Pretty dry. The usual berating of lestrade, played by terence lodge. Directed by stuart orme. He was nominated for three baftas! Hillerman was probably best known for magnum private eye, and what's up doc. This sherlock holmes is okay, but nothing too exciting.
Spadek.. aka the inheritance. There are a TON of films with this title, so be sure it's the one directed by sylwester jakimow. It's a farce from poland. When an eccentric man dies, he makes his heirs compete for the inheritance. Of course, there's a wacky butler keeping an eye on things. The family goes through a couple different phases. First, there's a game show, where they have to answer trivia about each other. Then, they eat candy which may or may not have drugs in them. Two guys who may or may not be the police show up. It just goes all over the place. And suddenly they are in a giant maze. And a magic puzzle. Some pretty good special effects about an hour in! An annoying minute when daughter josie screams a long, shrill scream, which just goes on and on. It's mostly fun, but seems to be aimed at slightly younger audience, who wouldn't worry so much about a strong, solid storyline. The dubbing into english is actually pretty good, and doesn't shy away from cussing! All is explained in the last two minutes, in an ending that is a bit tacked on. But it's still fun. Story by lukasz sychowicz.
A heist series from mexico! It seems most of the guests staying at the resort hotel are looking for a lost treasure. Even one of the employees. And we learn right near the start that one of the guests even has a map of where the treasure is. As usual, there's the computer guy, the athletic one, the genius, the diver...etc. It gets pretty silly in episode three, but i won't give any spoilers. And the group keeps getting bigger. Every time they bring in another person, they have to give away more of the treasure. Lots of cussing, but this has one of the best english dub tracks i've ever heard! Story is a bit silly, but it's fun if we just go with the flow. Really fun. Will they ever find the treasure? Directed by adrian grunberg. Story by pablo tébar. It looks like there will be a season two! Although this season one stands on its own just fine.
