If you expect a serious movie you'll be massively disappointed. If, however you're expecting a comedic spoof that doesn't take itself (or it's prequel) seriously then you're in for a wild ride. It's almost worth watching just so you can admire George Clooney's 80's mullet. There's little plot, but instead there is a series of imaginative scenes which can really make you laugh (so long as you don't try and take the movie seriously). Heartily recommended.
I had high hopes for this movie, which unfortunately weren't met. The basic premise is that a group of archaeologists uncovered a deep cave which unfortunately releases demons which roamed the Earth millions of years ago. A schoolboy attempts a ritual which will give him the power of a demon, and with it the power to save the world.
The movie is basically enjoyable, but takes far too long to get going. It takes almost 2/3 of the film to establish the characters and get main plot-line going. It is fun from that point, but it all ends too quickly. There is a sequel to the movie which is supposed to continue the story, but I haven't seen this one.
Overall, if you get the chance to see this than you may like it, but I wouldn't make a great effort to catch it.

This movie is an excellent sci-fi romp combining intense actions sequences with a tense plot. Basically the story centers around an alien invasion of earth and a teenager who finds himself forced into the battle with the aid of a prototype suit of armour which could be the planet's only saviour.
I recently caught this movie as part of a anime run on Sci-Fi, and almost missed this enjoyable piece of science fiction. Detonator Orgun dives straight into the action with a sequence which although enjoyable is slightly confusing. After this sequence the actual story begins and starts the process of explaining the situation and characters. As the movie progresses the plot unfolds, leading to more excellent action sequences and a plot that draws you in. By the end it all makes sense, but somehow you still want more.
I would recommend this movie to anime fans, and sci-fi fans alike. If you can cope with the initial confusion, the remainder of the film bears the marks of a classic. Extremely enjoyable.
