Netflix reportedly paid US $18 million for the US distribution rights to the film.
The ice road in Canada's Northwest Territories, which inspired the movie, spans 400km over 64 frozen lakes and measures about 160 feet wide on ice. Truck drivers make the 14-16 hour trip at a maximum speed limit of 15 mph.
Amber Midthunder, who plays Tantoo, was also in Liam Neeson's previous film The Marksman (2021). She played the Gas Station Clerk who gave him the roadmap for free.
This is the first film directed by Jonathan Hensleigh in 10 years. His last feature length film was Kill the Irishman (2011).
Liam Neeson and Benjamin Walker also co-starred in Kinsey (2004), Walker's film debut. Walker played Neeson's character, Alfred Kinsey, at age 19.
