Another in an endless stream of cheap disaster movies filled with washed-up leading actors, nobody supporting actors, and lousy CGI. This one's got Casper Van Dien in it - no stranger to the genre having also appeared in 500 MPH STORM, which is pretty much interchangeable with this movie. The story is about a private company who devise a new and deadly form of fuel, which then gets caught up in a twister and refuses to be extinguished.
As with so many of these films, almost the entire running time consists of a central family who find themselves caught up in an almost sentient disaster which then proceeds to chase them all over the country. Shots of the fire twister chasing a jeep must take up at least half of the running time. The acting is wooden, the characters are made of cardboard, and the movie exudes cheapness from every poor. I love the over the top nature of the evil company which sends a machine-gun toting hit squad after any witnesses to this man-made catastrophe; totally over the top and cheesy with it. The only positive I can find to say about FIRE TWISTER is that the CGI effects aren't quite as terrible as is the norm for this genre.

This film delivers fun cheesy low budget entertainment, that's if your expecting crappy CGI, substandard acting, and destruction which consists of stock footage. Fire Twister is definitely the low point of cheap tornado films, it does worse than Sharknado since it has a more rushed feel to it. It's almost as if the producers weren't really trying with this film, especially since the special effects resembles something you would get from Adobe After Effects.
I doubt this film can be classified as so bad it's good, there are some points where you can have a chuckle but those moments only serve as a temporary distraction from the overall shoddy feel of the film.
Fire Twister is a total dumpster fire.

A sentient tornado made of fire, trained assassins who couldn't hit the side of a barn with a machine gun and characters who are not only easily fooled multiple times but can also easily find everything they need to destroy this thing, while every cop in the city is after them. I guess I only have myself to blame for watching this movie. What was I expecting? Did I think it might be good? If you see this on tv or somehow come across the dvd, run like it's an actual 10 story fire twister.
First off, I normally don't post reviews, but this film compelled me to.
It's a Saturday morning, and I ended up watching this TV movie. Please save your self 90 mins (because you'll never get them back) and don't watch this. From the poor CGI, cardboard acting and terrible story line this film watches like a turd covered in puke, gently heated would smell like...absolutely terrible!
The flaming twister is some shots is no wider than a street so all it needs is a hose down from a fire engine and it would be out....but noooooo, not in this film.

Wow! I just can't wrap my head around how bad this film is. And I LOVE disaster movies. Movies made by "The Asylum", yea I actually like them. But this? The graphics look like a two year old was in charge. If you are going to make a movie heavy on graphics, try investing in those graphics or don't make the movie! The plot is horrible. And the acting, really really bad. But I could deal with that if only the graphics were half way decent! I'd rather watch Sharknado then ever watch this movie again. Don't waste your time. I don't understand why this movie was ever made. I have literally never watched a disaster movie I hated this much.

I came across this Casper van Dien motion picture at Wal-Mart with the intent to find a really crappy disaster to watch & it pretty much was what I expected it to be. As a fan of "Mystery Science Theater 3000," this was pretty much not unlike the cinema the show has screened, & I'm pretty sure the observatory was also the same one in the comedy's "Teen-Age Crime Wave" episode. Van Dien was just one of two actors I recognized; the man playing the corrupt executive of whoever made the super-fuel or something was Joe Regalbuto, & has seriously aged since doing "Murphy Brown" 2 decades since. The SFX made me laugh each time I saw it; the good guys basically unleash what really should be just a mere blaze but turns out to be a 21st century version of the spinning inferno from "The Ten Commandments" that just moves about wreaking fiery havoc on Los Angeles. I was hoping the DVD had Spanish subtitles as I prefer not following the story listening to the dialogue to a movie I superficially watch. Nope, the DVD only had a trailer & I watched it on muting but I didn't miss much. Again, it's a ragtag bunch of misfits battling a monster fire & the villains who made it led by Van Dien, whose hair still looks great amidst hot temperatures. That's probably the advantage of the low humidity in California; no blow- dryer needed. Also the violence is surprisingly limited as nobody's flailing about in flames. I guess w/ this low-budget film they not only couldn't afford makeup & prosthetics to depict badly burned victims but couldn't even get a stuntman to cover himself in flammable jelly. In conclusion, "Fire Twister" is a typical DVD-only disaster film w/ an unfamiliar cast & a very familiar story-line per disaster films.

This movie is utter trash. Poor plot, poor acting, beyond poor CGI (and it's heavy on CGI).
Hope this was initially meant as a tutorial "how not to do a disaster movie" and for some reason ended up being published, or I can't explain this.

Completely phone and visual effects are stupid, one fire truck and a hose would have put that twister out.

This movie is absolutely terrible. The acting is stiff and bad, the GCI is crappy and the overall plot is cancerous. It all feels like it was made by a 10 years old.

It tried to take itself way too seriously for the kind of film it was. I love bad films, but bad films that are fun to watch. This didn't have that cheesy campy feeling that a lot of the bad films who know they're bad films have.
So there's conspiracy theories, assassins a magical "save mankind" fuel that's good to save everyone, even if it does cause a semi sentient fire twister, that looks for heat and fuel source. It sounds like it should be the kind of tone a SyFy original would have. But it's actually played very straight, even though the concept is ridiculous.
There's even a pretty brutal death scene between a bad guy, and a journalist.

While this movie isn't as hot as your average summer blockbuster, it doesn't suck as much as some of the other wanna-be disaster movies out there either.
You can judge how good or bad the effects are by the look of the fire. It doesn't interact enough with the characters, that's a big negative, but it doesn't look like a cartoon either. The practical effects worked pretty well here too...the really bad movies can't pull that off either.
Some of the plot is actually funny and well written. I kind-of missed all the puns and obviously lame jokes that some of those other tornado movies throw out there, but this movie tried to walk that fine line between ridiculous and fun and exciting, and I thought it did pretty good.
When you watch a lot of bad movies for fun it's easier to see how they stand out or fail in their own way. If you watch this movie just don't expect a well funded flick. Expect a goofy knock-off and you'll see it's good enough to hold your attention through to the end.

... and had enough left over to pay for a taxi home
This would be that film
Every scene is a treasure trove of plot, dialogue or effects mistakes.
Look for those special details.
Like people running across the parking lot to load papers into a car.
Why didn't anyone think of just moving the car closer?
The passage of the fire twister destroys buildings but doesn't ever scorch the grass.
Make up your own dialogue too.
Like when they use fire hoses as flamethrowers You just HAVE to yell out "don't cross the streams"
4 people with machine guns fire at a Fire engine to kill the driver but don't even break a window.
If you are looking for terrible films then this one is pure gold.

With apologies to Elvis.
This is bad, not really bad, fun bad. Bad acting, bad effects, bad dialogue but so much fun. This is a movie to turn your higher brain functions off, settle back and enjoy.
I love these movies, they are a guilty pleasure. No real plat, cliches galore and hokey action scenes with cardboard cutout characters. Still it is fun and does deliver.
I am not going to add a description of the movie as it is all there in the title. A giant fire tornado that burns a swath of destruction. A bunch of bad guys after the good guys and an intrepid reporter out to discover the truth.
This movie is no Scorched or Burning but it doesn't set out to be. It is pure fun and that is all it is meant to be.
Enjoy.

Very poor effects only watched 10 minutes then turned over to watch a documentary.
So unrealistic.
Got the cgi of Jaws with the Great White crashing into the glass screen.
If anything more of a comedy - laughing at how bad it is.
Comical Was this a joke?
2015 and 14 year olds could create better films.
When you have to double check the release date you know the cgi is bad.
Would not bother reading anymore - bit like the film, it will bore you. Have to use a certain number of characters to post this.
Twister had better cgi.
I am struggling to fill up the number of characters to post this review.

It's my 5 year old grandson's favorite movie!
Yes it's cheesy. Yes the special effects are terrible.
Yes the roller coaster scene has worse editing than many Star Trek scene mistakes. Yes Casper can Diem is still around! Yes a Murphy Brown regular is the bad guy!
It's fun and better after the 3rd time watching.
It's amazing how many cheesy movies have been made over the years. Shark movies. Tornado/twister movies etc. Obviously the audience has been found! After this go find Ice Twisters, also on Freevee and Amazon Prime.
Can't wait to see Christmas Twister at Christmas time. Happy watching!

Right, well I had never heard bout this 2015 movie titled "Fire Twister", and truth be told, as I sat down to watch it here in 2024, I didn't harbor a single expectation. Why? Well, the title alone was just scream low budget garbage. But still, with it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to give writer Larry Bain and director George Erschbamer the benefit of the doubt.
The storyline was laughable, but you know that from the title alone. So you're not in for an evening of Shakespearian cinema here. Not that I was expecting that. Duh. There are just so many things wrong and implausible about the storyline, but the first thing that comes to mind is how would the fire tornado sustain its roaring flames as it swept across the land? And the fact that a tornado forms in weather conditions with clear skies and no winds moving (just look at the trees) it just downright phenomenal. Great writing right there.
So an exploding building caused a tornado of pure fire to take shape and come into existence? Right. How very believable.
The effects in "Fire Twister" were fairly dubious.
"Fire Twister" was, not surprisingly, a rather terrible movie. But truth be told, isn't there something oddly appealing about these terrible natural disaster movies that are found in an abundance out there?
My rating of director George Erschbamer's 2015 movie lands on a three out of ten stars.
