Exclusive: Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan has joined the cast of Netflix’s highly anticipated Peaky Blinders feature. The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn actor is the latest high-profile name set opposite star Cillian Murphy in the Tom Harper-directed film. Last month, Deadline exclusively revealed that Rebecca Ferguson is also aboard.

Similar to Ferguson, details of Keoghan’s role are being kept under wraps.

As Deadline previously reported, Netflix greenlighted the Peaky feature in June with Oppenheimer Oscar winner Murphy in a return to the iconic role of Tommy Shelby, leader of the eponymous Birmingham gangster family.

The epic continuation of the multi-award-winning saga has been written by the show’s creator, Steven Knight. He will produce alongside Caryn Mandabach, Murphy and Guy Heeley. Exec producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason. The movie will be made in association with BBC Film.

Former Netflix film head Scott Stuber has closed a deal with Amazon MGM Studios to relaunch the United Artists label and finance and release features from his new production company.

The arrangement includes a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios and will see Stuber based on the Culver City lot, producing several films a year under the UA label for release theatrically and on Prime Video.

Exclusive: Apple Original Films has won a spirited auction to land The Corsair Code, an original feature film set to star Chris Hemsworth. The film is based on a short story by Jonathan Tropper, which he brought to Hemsworth and his producing partner Ben Grayson.

Hemsworth and Grayson will produce through their Wild State shingle, and Apple Studios will serve as the studio. Tropper will write the screenplay and produce through his shingle Tropper Ink.

The Corsair Code is described as a high-octane, sci-fi mystery adventure, but they are keeping plot specifics under wraps.

All3Media’s Raw, the company behind The Tinder Swindler, Three Identical Strangers and upcoming Amazon MGM Studios doc Crime 101, has hired Sam Gordon as producer/executive producer for its features team. Gordon is an experienced film and TV producer, with spells at Baby Cow, Calamity Films and BBC Films on his CV. Most recently, he was a development producer for Brouhaha Entertainment, where he worked on Firebrand and co-produced Karim Ainouz’s Motel Destino, which launched in Official Competition at Cannes this year. He also worked on Philomena and Stan & Ollie while at Baby Cow. At Raw, he’ll report into Cco Dimitri Doganis and CEO Joely Father, working with filmmakers Bart Layton and Tim Wardle, as well as Head of Scripted TV Sara Murray and other senior creative execs. Last year, a bidding war was going down between Netflix and Amazon for a lucrative package deal. The two streaming giants were in a fight to acquire the film rights to the novella by Don Winslow called Crime 101. The package deal had included two attached stars — Chris Hemsworth and Pedro Pascal. Although, Pascal has now reportedly been replaced by Mark Ruffalo. It also has a director set to helm the project with Bart Layton, whose credits include the documentary The Imposter from 2012 and American Animals from 2018. Barry Keoghan is in negotiations to join Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo in Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of Don Winslow’s novella Crime 101. He will co-star with Chris Hemsworth, who also is in talks to star and produce alongside producing partner Ben Grayson. The film will be released in theaters next year.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the original short story by Winslow has shades of Heat as it follows high-level jewel thefts that are taking place up and down the Pacific Coast, which police have linked to Colombian cartels. Detective Lou Lubesnick has other ideas, and he zeroes in on one perp, a thief looking for a final score.

Bart Layton is directing and wrote the script. Producers include Story Factory’s Shane Salerno, Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan, Raw’s Layton and Dimitri Doganis and Derrin Schlesinger. Raw’s Joely Fether will executive produce.
