The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a hefty new Blu-ray box set containing 100 of its best animated films.

Officially titled the Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection, the box set comes with three volumes that open up to feature the original theatrical artwork for each film. Additionally, the package offers digital codes to all 100 movies, a certificate of authenticity, a lithograph from the upcoming feature Wish, and a collectible set of crystal Mickey Mouse ears engraved with “Disney 100.”

Disney is releasing a limited edition box set of 100 animated movies to celebrate their 100th anniversary, priced at $1,500. The box set includes classics like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, as well as newer films like Encanto and Turning Red. While the price may seem steep, the box set comes with bonus collectibles and is a comprehensive collection that would be difficult and costly to build on one's own.

The price tag for Disney's new DVD collection set that contains 100 animated movies has been set at a hefty $1,500. With Disney's 100th anniversary set on October 16, the renowned company has been celebrating the milestone all through the year. The Disney theme parks began the official celebration by kicking off Disney 100 in January, a series of special events taking place in parks across the globe all year long. However, Disney will soon offer a way to bring part of the celebration into audiences' own homes.

Film, television, and stage actor Jerry Stiller died of natural causes, as according to his son Ben Stiller. He was 92.

“I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes,” Ben announced on Twitter. “He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.”

Stiller is known for his TV roles as Frank Costanza on Seinfeld and Arthur Spooner on The King of Queens, and multiple films including, The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three, John Waters’ Hairspray, his son’s Zoolander, and Richard Lester’s adaptation of Terrence McNally’s play, The Ritz, which Jerry also acted in on Broadway.

But he might be best remembered for being part of the comedy team Stiller & Meara, which he performed with his wife, Anne Meara. The pair met in 1953 at a New York casting call,...

A new “Chip ‘n’ Dale” original animated series is in production at Disney +, the streamer announced Tuesday at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.

In 39 seven-minute episodes, “Chip ‘n’ Dale” will feature Disney’s “much-loved chipmunk troublemakers in a non-verbal, classic style comedy, following the ups and downs of two little creatures living life in the big city.” The series combines a traditional style of animation with contemporary, comedic narratives. Jean Cayrol will direct, while Marc du Pontavice will produce.

Disney’s London-based animation team is developing the series in collaboration with Xilam Animation in Paris. Xilam Animation will also produce.

Disney has shut down animation house Disneytoon Studios, the animation house behind the “Planes” movies, effective immediately.

“After much consideration, we have made the decision to end production activity and close Disneytoon Studios,” a Disney Spokesperson said in a statement to TheWrap.

Glendale-based Disneytoon Studios was originally created to work on the Disney’s direct-to-video projects, most notably the “Fairies” films from 2008-2014. Disneytoon Studios was responsible for two worldwide theatrical releases: “Planes” in 2013 and “Planes: Fire & Rescue” in 2014.

Disneytoon Studios had been in development on an untitled project since 2014. The project was removed from the theatrical release schedule in March and is no longer in development.

On the heels of Pete Docter and Jennifer Lee succeeding John Lasseter as chief creative officers at Pixar and Disney, Disney will now close its third animation studio, the Glendale-based Disneytoon Studios, effective immediately.

Disneytoon was best known for the “Disney Fairies” home entertainment and “Planes” theatrical franchises under Lasseter’s leadership, with Meredith Roberts serving as senior vice president and general manager since 2008. There will be layoffs of 75 animators and staff, and it is unclear if any will be transitioned to either Disney or Pixar.

The Inbetweeners 2 has topped the UK box office for the second consecutive weekend.

The comedy sequel earned £4.3 million to secure top spot ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy and new release The Expendables 3.

The Inbetweeners sequel has now earned more than £22 million from UK cinemas after just two weeks on release.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes slips down to number four, while How to Train Your Dragon 2 holds its spot at five.

Secret Cinema's Back to the Future added £531,767 to its box office haul and has now collected more than £2 million after screenings in East London.

Elsewhere, Simon Pegg's Hector and the Search for Happiness debuts at number nine with £240,222.

Marvel blockbuster dominates but comedy sequel debuts strong.

Comic book adaptation Guardians of the Galaxy ruled social media buzz in the UK over the past week (July 31 – Aug 6), generating more than 33,000 comments of which nearly a third expressed intent to view.

This bodes well for the ongoing box office of the Marvel action comedy, which made more than £9.57m within a week and hit $200m worldwide after only six days.

But coming in strong is comedy sequel The Inbetweeners 2, which recorded more than 12,300 mentions on social media with an impressive 43% of those looking to turn their comments into cinema visits.

By comparison, Planes 2: Fire & Rescue generated 115 comments, with 23 expressing intent to view.

Of the films coming soon, The Expendables 3 generated nearly 3,800 comments – with 800 (21%) of those mentioning intent to view.

This weekend sees the release of How to Train Your Dragon 2, the first of just two major animated features coming out this summer (and having to imply that Planes 2: The Plane Fight Fire Now is a “major” film tastes like ash in my mouth). More importantly, it’s the sequel to a four-year-old film that’s broadly regarded as the best movie DreamWorks Animation has ever made. And there have been many appreciations advanced through the years as to why How to Train Your Dragon is so good – a comic tone that never trumps the basic sincerity of the story, John Powell’s gorgeous, Celtic-tinged score, the first actual decent animation of normal humans in the studio’s history – I can tell you pretty easily why it’s my own personal favorite: it’s the best movie about cats ever made.

Disney has released a set of beautiful vintage posters ahead of the release of Planes 2: Fire And Rescue.

Dusty and the gang are the focus of the posters – designed by Art Director Toby Wilson early in the production of the movie. The Americana-style concepts for the look of Piston Peak National Park were inspired by vintage 1930s Wpa-era prints.

Appreciated by wee’uns but widely disliked by adults with reviews to write, Planes seemed like a rare creative misfire for Lasseter-era Disney. But there were enough tinies in the former camp - $220m worth – to warrant a trilogy, and sure enough, part two, Planes 2: Fire & Rescue arrives this summer. Planes 2: Fire & Rescue has premiered a new trailer.

The DisneyToons Studios sequel sees air racer Dusty Crophopper (Dane Cook) get damaged and become an aerial firefighter in Blade Ranger's (Ed Harris) legendary team.

Julie Bowen, Regina King, Jerry Stiller and Fred Willard feature in the voice cast for the movie, which will open in the Us on July 18 and UK on August 8.

Bobs Gannaway is directing Planes 2 from a script by returning screenwriter Jeffrey M Howard.
