- Don Champagne (Patrick Wilson) and Mona Champagne (Katherine Heigl) are married and have 2 kids Andrew (Aiden Flowers) and Allison (Madison Wolfe). Mona is kind of a dominating wife & has a tight control over the house. Don is the owner of Champagne furniture and rugs. He employs sales folks Les (Jim Belushi) and Dusty (Jordana Brewster). Mona implies that whatever Don has was set up using her parent's money.
Dusty is ultra sexy and has been recently hired by Don, without the knowledge of his wife. Dusty was hired recently when she walked into the store and applied for the job.
Mona has a goal book for the business that she reviews every night with Don. This includes stuff like a retreat in Florida, a 2nd store in an upscale location, and a wild-wood collection. She has a Pre-published schedule for sex, which is precisely 6 times a year. Then Mona finds that Dusty is a woman. Mona comes to visit Don at work and realizes that Dusty is also drop-dead sexy. Mona makes Don sleep in the office even though he is sexually starved and frustrated with Mona. The next day, Dusty makes a move on Don & gives him a blow job. There on in Don & Dusty have full on sex on several occasions. Dusty tells Don that she is pregnant & turns up in a bikini to Mona's barbecue party. Dusty tells Don that she wants to have the baby. Turns out Dusty is not pregnant & is in fact working for a group of hustlers, who use Dusty as a honeypot to lure suckers such as Don to pay up. Her partners are Murphy (AJ Buckley) and Freeman (Kevin McKidd). Dusty is sympathetic to Don and is not treated well by Freeman.
After talking to Les, Don decides to pay off Dusty with $13,000 ($7,000 from Les and $6,000 from Don), but Dusty says it's not enough (as a single specialist appointment cost $900) & threatens to go to Mona. Les advises Don to tell the truth to Mona first. Don confesses to Mona & she believes him when he says that he is still committed to achieving their goals & does not want a divorce. Mona understands that Dusty is not aborting the pregnancy. She tells Don to kill Dusty, but when he says he can't, Mona says she will do it.
Dusty calls after being prodded by Freeman, to ask Don for $25,000. Mona makes Don put the call on speaker and listens to the conversation. Don agrees to meet Dusty at the furniture store the next evening. Mona tells Don to drug Dusty & bring her back home so she can dispose of her. Don does as instructed, even though Dusty finds out that she has been drugged and tries to escape from the store, before falling unconscious. Once home, Dusty wakes up, so Mona kills her with a hammer. Don vomits in the kitchen while Mona hacks Dusty's body into pieces in the garage, buries it in the garden, and reveals to Don that Dusty wasn't even pregnant.
With friends Freeman and Benji (Heath Freeman), Murphy discovers Dusty is missing. He suspects something went wrong, so they attack Les at the store when he comes into work the following morning. Murphy also threatens Don by leaving his son a letter, in which he demands a meeting at a strip club. Don meets Murphy and his gang and convinces them that Dusty went to Dallas, perhaps ditching her business partners in the process. Murphy tells Don that Dusty had his money, and she ran away, now Don is on the hook for it. Murphy threatens to sexually assault his family if he does not pay him $20,000 the next day.
Don and Mona dig up Dusty's corpse and go to the place where the gang lives. While Mona is trying to hide Dusty's body parts in Freeman's freezer, Freeman comes home with his girlfriend. Mona mortally wounds Freeman, stabs and kills his girlfriend, and calls the police to report a disturbance at the house. Before dying, Freeman calls Murphy and tells him what happened. Murphy and Benji arrive and find Freeman and his girlfriend dead. Murphy also discovers parts of Dusty in the freezer and realizes he was set up. Soon the police arrive and find Murphy and Benji at the crime scene. The police shoot Benji while Murphy escapes. The police decide that Murphy and Benji were responsible for the murders.
While alone, Don asks Mona why she is so cold-blooded and if it was due to her upbringing. Mona threatens to kill him if he ever asks her that question again. The next day, Don finds the neighbor's dog dead in his freezer at a house party, and Mona displays very antisocial behavior with their guests. Terrified, Don stages an accident to kill Mona. After her death, Don and his children move to a new house and are seen in the driveway getting into a new car and driving away.
The movie ends with Murphy going after their car. The screen turns black, and the end credits roll. Two shots are heard, followed by a prolonged honk and children's screams, implying that Murphy had killed Don.
