We all know who Superman is.
Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster in 1938, wasn't the first superhero character in modern media, but he tends to be held up as one of the genre's central archetypes. His red wrestler's cape and red strong man's trunks, paired with his super strength and ability to defy gravity, have all become central symbols of what a superhero is, how a superhero should behave, and what a superhero looks like. Hundreds of thousands of superheroes have been invented since 1938, but many of those produced by mainstream comics outlets like Marvel or DC owe Superman a direct debt. In the same way that every on-screen Dracula is a riff on Bela Lugosi's performance in Tod Browning's 1931 movie, Superman is either being enhanced or subverted by every comic book superhero character. But he is the mainstay.

Jensen Ackles is no stranger to the world of glitz and glamour and found fame with his role as Dean Winchester in The CW series, Supernatural. He became a fan-favorite actor, whose name was often mentioned in the same sentence as that of Batman. And fans’ wishes came true when Ackles was cast to voice Batman in the critically acclaimed animated movie, Batman: The Long Halloween.

Clint Eastwood has been the inspiration behind many things, but to think he was the inspiration behind Wonder Woman is pretty wild to consider. When director Jeff Wamester was tasked with putting the iconic trio of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman into interesting new backdrops and environments, he knew precisely how to handle Wonder Woman.
Thus, he birthed a “Clintina Eastwood.” In the latest installment of the dynamic DC animated Tomorrowverse, titled Justice League: Warworld, viewers can explore these legendary superheroes in a never-before-seen way.

Though they've made a fraction of the box office of even the worst DC live-action movie, creatively the crown jewel of DC Comics adaptations lies in their animated movies. It's through animation that the potential of comic book adaptations really shines. Ever since "Superman: Doomsday" was released in 2007, we've had movies that faithfully adapt popular comics storylines (rather than just borrow the name for brand recognition and throw the rest away), original films with wild concepts, and even movies that build on continuity like the biggest cinematic universes.
This is one of the most interesting aspects of the DC animated movies, because there are two proper continuities, each building up characters and storylines and exploring giant crossovers in a way DC has not come even close to figuring out in live-action.
Given how little resources Warner Bros. have used to properly market this universe or make sure audiences are aware of its continuity,...

DC delivered a lot of live-action and animated content in the last few years. Although the studio has been struggling with the live-action content amid the imminent end of DC Extended Universe, DC never fails to deliver us some animation every year. Apart from the animated movies such as ‘Legion of Super-Heroes,’ ‘Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham,’ and ‘Justice League: Warworld,’ we also watched the ‘Harley Quinn,’ series, which spawned the ‘Valentine’s Day Special’ and its fourth season this year.
Harley Quinn animated series premiered in November 2019 on the former DC Universe streaming service, followed by the second season only two months after the first one ended. After the DC Universe was shut down as a streaming service, the series was moved to HBOMax, which was rebranded to simply Max in May this year. Superhero media is the fad these days, and most comic-book franchises are doubling down on their efforts to produce more related content with each passing year. However, there was a period when even the big two comic-book franchises, DC and Marvel, explored different genres like horror, western, space adventure, and fantasy in the comic-book medium, which were totally free from the continuity of mainline superhero-related series and had their own space to grow. Some of the most iconic stories and characters were introduced through these non-superhero comics, and they had their own separate audience to cater to as well.
Generally, as comic-book sales dwindled, most of the iconic titles ceased to exist and were integrated into mainline comics continuity; as a result, many of yesteryear’s popular characters were largely forgotten. In the recently released DC animated movie Justice League: Warworld, which is a part of the Tomorrowverse, the narrative...

During the early 90s, DC Comics launched the Elseworlds publication, along with trademarking the very word itself, and the storylines became extremely popular due to their interesting proposition of testing beloved characters of the franchise in varied settings, contexts, and tropes. Later, the stories were incorporated into the larger DC multiverse, but the distinctively unique takes were engaging enough as standalone stories to begin with. In recent years, as part of DC animated movie adaptations, we have seen some of these in Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, The Doom That Came To Gotham and Superman: Red Son, and they arguably fare better than the prime continuity animated universe.
Taking a page from that book, the recently released DC animated interconnected universe continuity, aka Tomorrowverse adaptation Justice League: Warworld, offers a chance to explore the Elseworlds storyline in the mainstream universe. Warworld is a setting of importance in DC lore, a planet-like...

Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios are currently in a pretty rough era since their last three Dceu movies have all turned out to be commercial failures, and things aren’t looking promising for the upcoming ‘Blue Beetle’ either. However, we mustn’t forget the animated projects that DC is currently developing, and there we have some new things that are promising quite a lot.
DC has always been known for great animated adaptations, regardless if they’re feature movies or TV shows. With the new DC Universe taking shape, we’re due to meet fresh versions of classic heroes, including the Dark Knight in The Brave and the Bold. It remains to be seen who will play Batman in the new movie, but Jensen Ackles is ready to take on the role.
