Neither brilliant nor dreadful, "Anyone But You" features a cast of characters that are unbelievably attractive and, apparently, insanely wealthy. It stars Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeny's breasts in the formulatic equivalent of a Hallmark Movie knock-off. You know the drill - two perfect young people meet, are instantly attracted to each other, are separated by a misunderstanding with hilarious hijinks ensuing. The misunderstanding is eventually resolved, love blooms once more, and all ends well.

What sets this film apart is excellent cinematography with lovely wide-angle views of the Australian countryside. The supporting cast is very capable although the Australian men are played as oafish stereotypes. Glen Powell plays his part well, but Sydney Sweeny appears to be reading her lines from a teleprompter offscreen. Not the worst movie out this holiday season and enjoyable as long as you refrain from high expectations.

They really did make a whole movie just to show off Glen Powell's smoking hot body and honestly - I'm here for it!

The storyline and the acting is... wait, who cares?? Glen Powell is shirtless about half the time.

The predictability factor is super strong with this one. The cheese is sprinkled all over the movie, in every scene, there is little room left for any other ingredients because... cheese. And Glen Powell.

This movie was anything but consistent. Some scenes were ridiculously endearing, some were ridiculously annoying, some were ridiculously laughable, and some were just ridiculous. (I think the one commonality is self evident.) Gluck clearly wanted to bring back the big budget RomCom and update Shakespeare all at once - the movie version of a genre novel that leans all the way into all the tropes, but is smart enough to make good literary references along the way. Much like with any somewhat self aware story, there were times when the camera winks amused me and times when they had the opposite effect. Regardless, there is no denying that Powell and Sweeney make the most of every scene. Even if it never fully comes together for you, I bet you will still find yourself at least a little charmed.

It's nice to watch something for a change that just makes you smile...it doesn't pretend to be an Oscar masterpiece, just a bit of fun that makes you feel good! There's questionable parts and moments that make you wince for sure but If you want something that's easy to watch that just makes you feel a bit happier about life then this is for you! I think we take things a little too seriously now and expect more and more from cinema...this film reminds me of the romcoms back in the 90's and we really should make more of them! Please don't expect the world it's just a bit of fun and it certainly will leave you with a smile!

Forget the fact that this is loosely based on Shakespeare. Forget the fact that is predictable in just about every way. But if you remember that this is a romcom and isn't meant to win any awards or have the best plot, and you remember to just want to watch a film that is fun and easy to watch, then this is for you. It's like a 90's romcom, and I mean that in the best way. The characters are flawed, but fun. The plot is predictable but still enjoyable. The acting is just above ehhh. But if you like romcoms, half naked (and more than half naked) beautiful people, and some beautiful Australian scenery, than you'll enjoy this movie.

Bea (Sydney Sweeney) meets Ben (Glen Powell) in a coffee shop and they hook up. There are misunderstandings next morning and they leave angry. It turns out that his friend is marrying her sister. The two enemies have to attend a destination wedding in Australia.

Sweeney and Powell are trying all kind of broad physical humor. They are both gorgeous and both have good charisma. Neither are outright comedians and that is important. They are mildly funny but are rarely the funniest part. The first big laugh is the WTF old guy while the two bicker. The butt grabbing scene kinda works, but the leads may be overshadowed by a koala. This duo tries very hard. It's so ridiculous that it's mildly funny.

It was silly, nonsensical, over the top, so cringey at times and totally ridiculous BUT it was non stop fun and entertainment and a cute ending and charming characters. And seriously, if you're not willing to suspend disbelief and just let yourself be entertained by some good old simple happy easy to watch rom com nonsense, then that's on you! But that's exactly why I watch movies- to be left feeling happy and bubbly and distracted from real life. And this did that exactly! I really loved it. And it's not pretending to be what it's not - so don't choose to watch it (knowing its a silly rom com) and then complain about all the plot holes and silliness- it ticks its own boxes perfectly!

The only reason I watched Anyone But You was because I have slowly come to appreciate Glen Powell. I wasn't expecting much, and I Didn't get much. Just imagine all of the standard rom-com tropes and you will surely be able to spot each one throughout the film. A spark on a first date, the breakup, and the back and forth will-they-won't-they until they come together in the end. "Spoiler" alert, if you didn't already see that coming. I don't know why I gave it a 6, but that's just what it felt like. Anyone But You had its share of good moments, but if Glen Powell or rom-coms aren't your thing, then there isn't much for you here.

I went to see this movie because I am a sucker for a romantic comedy, even the average ones (and let's face it, most of them are). Having seen the trailer, I had low expectations, yet this film still managed to come it at an even lower level.

Boy meets girl, they hit it off briefly, there is a misunderstanding and when they reconnect through a friend/family wedding, they hate each other. Except as anyone could predict, ultimately they don't really, but it takes an eternity of inauthentic, puerile dross to get there. No tissues needed here.

The acting is generally average to poor, and local actors like Rachel Griffiths and Bryan Brown (much of it filmed in Australia) do the minimum required, and are completely wasted here. The script is juvenile, facile and has little in common with reality. The direction is pedestrian and much of the movie is a travel ad for Sydney. Throw in plastic, unlikeable characters and a healthy dose of gratuitous nudity. The attempts at comedy are almost laughable as that, and what little romance eventuates at the end fails to convince after nearly two hours of tripe beforehand.

Not recommended, even if you are a fan of the genre.

I've watched a lot of Rom-Coms, be it old ones or the Netflix-bred ones. I've come to terms with the fact that no new Rom-Coms can replace the old ones for it had memorabilia values, plain iconic, and just feels genuine. However, Anyone But You came close. Maybe I just need to accept that this is the new era of rom-coms. The success of this movie is 70-80% attributable to Glen's performance though. The story hits the essentials of any movie of its genre, and it's not cringe at all. I really appreciate the Much Ado About Anything reference. Anyone But You is light, entertaining, and swoonworthy. It's good for a fun movie night with the ladies.

This movie is exactly what I thought it would be so I can't complain too much.

The two leads are both very attractive and have good chemistry, so that was entertaining to watch and nice on the eyes. It had some cute scenes. I gotta say the ensemble was pretty good if I laughed it was always because something one of them said. They were a bunch of goofy characters. I also enjoyed dermot mulroney's character when he was learning how to dive and the reoccurance of that at the end of the movie. It made me giggle.

But I gotta say... the dialogue was very mediocre and at times just not good at all. It just lacked depth which again didn't expect it to have depth but still could have been better.

I knew from the trailers that I would love this. But if I'd known it was a "Much Ado About Nothing" retelling, I would've gotten around to watching it way sooner. It took me until about a quarter of the way in, but then all the names and Shakespeare quotes made sense. I loved the clever callbacks to both the play and the 1993 movie, from the overdramatic conversations overheard in the garden to the leads even looking a bit like Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh. This had me grinning from ear to ear. And my goodness, the credits had me cackling. I will never listen to "Unwritten" the same way again.

Secondary characters, though enjoyable, sometimes fade into the background, leaving a sense that their potential could have been utilized more effectively. This could detract from the overall emotional depth of the story.

Finally a romantic comedy that feels like something from late 90s, early 00's.

These movies are not Oscar material nor were they intended to be. But they are heartwarming and cute!

Teens should have more movies like this!

Us adults, we're craving for good old style romantic comedies.

I hope Hollywood will keep making more and more of these!

The chemistry was very good between main characters! The colors of the movie... The vibe throughout entire movie! I enjoyed it.

It's a seven from me cause I desperately need more movies like this.

Everything in this movie feels forced. The comedy is like "please laugh, please laugh". I guess that works on some. Nothing flows naturally. The way they love at first sight and all of the sudden start bickering is unrealistic. The bickering is annoying. Sydney Sweeney is a really good actress, I really liked her in The White Lotus, but she's hasn't been in a movie that uses her full potential yet. The movie is full of cliches. It even has the funny black friend with no love life. I'm really shocked by how much money this movie made. I guess as long as those kinds of movies make money they'll keep the same formula and keep factory produce them and soon will use artificial intelligence to write them.

The reason why I gave this movie a 10/10 is because it the the best possible thing you would want for a romantic movie also very funny full of heart and all of the cast have an amazing chemistry hope for a sequel if possible I have a few ideas on where the sequel could go.

One of the best movies I have ever seen over the past few years the stand out was definitely Glen Powell any movie he is in and I am there right away his best movie is either Anyone But You or my favourite movie of all time and that is Top Gun: Maverick.

Perfect movie to see on Valentines Day

Highly recommend to someone who just wants a laugh or if you are bored you can watch this movie and have an amazing time definitely worth a watch.

Anyone But You is an enjoyably cynical rom com that still has plenty of heartfelt romance at its centre. Just getting one of these theatrically released currently is kind of a miracle and it plays squarely to the genre's strengths. All its beats are predictable in the best way.

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are on their way to becoming genuine movie stars and this film only further solidifies that. The constant barbs they send each other's way for the majority of the film are really funny and the chemistry they're constantly trying to deny has a real spark to it.

This isn't Will Gluck's first rom com and that's apparent in the good ways. The broad physical comedy is balanced nicely by the snappy wit interspersed throughout and it's surprisingly epic (a lot more helicopter stuff than expected). A good soundtrack always helps with this genre and the one here nails it.

This is not a "standard rom-com," as others have said. Standard rom-coms are by definition romantic and comedic. This is neither. The writing is offensively bad. The acting is about as good as a high school play.

Sydney Sweeney has been great in other things I've seen, and maybe this was just bad direction, but I was embarrassed for her when I watched this movie. Her nothing-delivery sometimes felt like I was watching a first table read. Glen Powell's character could have been played by a golden retriever. Talents like Rachel Griffiths and Dermot Mulroney were absolutely wasted on overwrought and often cringeworthy dialogue, and oddly aggressive reactions to normal events.

The tension was so forced, nonsensical, and messy, I felt like I was going crazy. I found myself thinking "no human being has ever acted like this in this situation" for most of the movie. I was really looking forward to this movie, and it was just an excruciating watch.

It's a very corny movie and very cliché, but you know what? Not everything has to be a cinematic masterpiece, i had so much fun while i saw it and when i left the cinema i even had to watch it 2 times, and i'm planning to watch it a lot more. The ones who hate this movie THEY ARE NOT FUNN. I still sing "Unwritten" by Natasha Bendingfield even tho i saw this movie 7 months ago.

After an amazing first date, Bea and Ben's fiery attraction turns ice-cold--until they find themselves unexpectedly reunited at a wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.

I thought this movie would be better than it turned out to be. First the good. Australia looked great; I would love to visit. Glen Powell does a good job with comedy. His boyish good looks are very appealing. The story is easy to follow since it is based on Shakespeare.

Now the bad. Sidney Sweeney is not good to look at and she CANNOT act. Her breasts are showcased in way too many scenes. Sad. Then there is the language. Mature people really do not use such foul language all the time. Way too many sentences have f--k in them. Unnecessarily overused until it becomes the one detail (plus the boobs) that one notices.

Unfunny, caricatured and cliched, with leaden script, dreadfully directed and terrible acting. I couldn't have hated it more. Persuaded by 21 year old daughter to go see and she also thought it a croc. Possibly the worst film I have ever seen in my life.

Gratuitous nudity, ridiculous situations. The family appear to be multi millionaires but absolutely no clue given as to how these ridiculously dim people have achieved their wealth. Australians presented as idiots by and large. The only positive thing to say is that Sydney (the city not the actor) looks lovely.

Driven to write my first ever film review due to how execrable it was. Avoid.
