Although Kerry Washington finds the fact that she’s receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame “surreal,” her father, Earl Washington, thinks she should’ve gotten a star a lot sooner.

“Anytime he would hear that somebody was getting one, he was like, ‘Why don’t you have one?’” Washington tells Variety, laughing as she recounts their conversations. “I was like, ‘I don’t know, Dad. I don’t make those decisions.’ So I feel like he’s manifested this moment. I’m excited that I get to share it with him.”

Washington’s father is right. Canada’s Walk of Fame, the country’s highest mark of excellence, announced on Wednesday the first round of Inductees who will join the organization’s illustrious ranks in 2025. “The Young and the Restless” alum Tonya Williams (ex-Olivia Winters) was among those named in the Arts & Entertainment category for her work as an actress, producer and advocate.

“It is a thrill to announce this first group of extraordinary Canadians,” said Jeffrey Latimer, CEO of Canada’s Walk of Fame. “Just as their stars will be permanently cemented along Canada’s Walk of Fame, so too has their impact been cemented into the very fabric of the lives and the communities they’ve touched, both in Canada and around the world.”

Despite this toxic underpinning, the star of the film, Demi Moore, recently shared in an interview with the Los Angeles Times how she wouldn’t mind receiving this honor one day soon.

“I think it would be a sweet thing,” said Moore. “I think often about it, less for me and more for my children and their children. There was conversation about doing it this year, the feeling like, ‘Wow. The timing would be perfect.‘ But there’s a bit more bureaucracy involved.”

Scottish actor Ewan McGregor hopes to continue his iconic role of Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars franchise. McGregor first portrayed the character in 1999’s “The Phantom Menace” and went on to appear in two additional prequel films. He recently starred in the Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” released this year.

In a new interview, McGregor expressed interest in playing Kenobi again. He told Variety there may still be untold stories that could be shown between the prequel films and Kenobi’s next appearance mentoring Luke Skywalker. “I’d be open to returning if the opportunity came,” McGregor said.

McGregor has long been connected to the Jedi master, known for his wisdom and skills with a lightsaber. His initial casting in the late 1990s helped launch the Star Wars prequels. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is looking ahead as it prepares to honor the star-studded Class of 2025.

On Monday, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced next year’s selections to receive a star on Hollywood Boulevard’s storied walk, including the likes of Jane Fonda, David Beckham, Fran Drescher, Alan Cumming and the late Prince.

In addition to Fonda, the 2025 motion picture honorees include John Carpenter, Jessica Chastain, Bill Duke, Robert Englund, Emilio Estevez, Colin Farrell, Nia Long, Lisa LIu, Glynn Turman and Toni Vaz.

The television honorees include Drescher, Lauren Graham, Bill Nye, Molly Shannon, Sherri Shepherd, Courtney B. Vance, Chris Wallace and South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, to be honored in a double ceremony.

The local Walk of Fame honor for the fast-rising Hollywood stars is more than an exercise in collective positive thinking for an inner-city neighborhood that earlier brought to the world celebrities like Mike Myers, Jim Carrey and The Weeknd.

The brothers are at work via their Bay Mills Studios production banner — named after the community housing project they grew up in Scarborough — on a landmark TV drama set in the inner-city community that is their home away from Hollywood.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2025. The deadline for submissions is May 31. There is a $250 application fee, and applications can be obtained starting April 15 at walkoffame.com. The Walk of Fame Committee will select approximately 24 names for honorees.

Anyone can submit a nomination, whether on behalf of themselves or another individual or group. The sponsor must submit a photo, bio and the nominee’s qualifications along with a list of contributions to the community and civic-oriented participation.

A letter of agreement from the nominee or their management must also be included in the application. Potential nominees must sign off on the nomination forms and agree to attend the event to accept the honor if selected.
