Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry says there are more than enough ideas for a spinoff of his beloved show — and he has a few ideas on how to make it happen.
“I would probably want to do the idea maybe in an earlier decade,” Cherry — who guesses he’s had “about 70,000 people” ask him to do a reboot of the series — told People. “Because the character I miss writing the most is actually Wisteria Lane. That was the most fun playground anyone in the history of television has ever had, because we owned the whole street.”
ABC’s Desperate Housewives ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012, and won multiple Emmys. The show’s ensemble cast included Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria, and told the stories of Wisteria Lane, a street in the fictional town of Fairview, in fictional Eagle State.

Although Kerry Washington finds the fact that she’s receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame “surreal,” her father, Earl Washington, thinks she should’ve gotten a star a lot sooner.
“Anytime he would hear that somebody was getting one, he was like, ‘Why don’t you have one?’” Washington tells Variety, laughing as she recounts their conversations. “I was like, ‘I don’t know, Dad. I don’t make those decisions.’ So I feel like he’s manifested this moment. I’m excited that I get to share it with him.”
Washington’s father is right. She could’ve been honored anytime in her nearly 25-year career — with a resume highlighted by standout turns in films like “Save the Last Dance,” “The Last King of Scotland,” “She Hate Me” and “Ray,” all before she landed the role of D.C. fixer Olivia Pope on ABC’s “Scandal.

Serendipity seems to follow Ralph Macchio — and it most recently took him to Australia.
In October, Coldplay released the song “The Karate Kid,” and it’s exactly what you think it’s about, down to the lyrics about “Daniel.” That, of course, is the name of the lead character played by Macchio in three “The Karate Kid” movies and six seasons of Netflix’s “Cobra Kai.” After Macchio heard the tune, he shared it on social media — and that’s when Coldplay concocted a plan. Frontman Chris Martin asked Macchio to come to Australia, where they were playing a series of dates, and film the music video. The ruse included bringing the actor on stage to help perform “The Karate Kid.”
“It was just one of those whirlwind things,” says Macchio, who just returned from Down Under. “It’s just a beautiful track. It blew my mind that he wrote the song,...

A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame literally cements many talents with a permanent place in the entertainment industry, but, as depicted in Coralie Fargeat‘s body horror satire “The Substance,” a star can also represent the insecurity in trying to ensure their legacy and value. Despite this toxic underpinning, the star of the film, Demi Moore, recently shared in an interview with the Los Angeles Times how she wouldn’t mind receiving this honor one day soon.
“I think it would be a sweet thing,” said Moore. “I think often about it, less for me and more for my children and their children. There was conversation about doing it this year, the feeling like, ‘Wow. The timing would be perfect.‘ But there’s a bit more bureaucracy involved.”

Ladies and gentlemen: Are you ready to rumble?!
Well, too bad — we’re rumbling anyway. Nearly one year to the day after being announced — and following one false start in July due to stomach ulcers — Jake Paul and Mike Tyson faced off in the ring Friday night for one of the most mega-hyped events in sports history.
This unlikely showdown between Paul, a 27-year-old former YouTube star, and Tyson, a 58-year-old former undisputed heavyweight with his own, Gen X-beloved video game, is virtually impossible to ignore — and marks a giant leap forward in terms of Netflix’s live-streaming ambitions.
If promoters Most Valuable Promotions are to be believed, the fight will be the most-watched in history. Netflix has not announced any viewership expectations. Paul himself predicted that 25 million would tune in.
Before a single punch had been thrown, it had already been one of the most debated, reviled and mocked fights ever mounted.

Ken Jeong has always been a scene-stealer — even as a chorus member with no lines in a Duke University production of “Kiss Me Kate” when he was 18. “I still have the review in my office; it says, ‘Did I mention Ken Jeong, a puckish performer in the chorus who best watch his back if he keeps stealing scenes from the principals?’” recalls the actor. “So, I think it’s always been in my DNA.”
Jeong has never lost that playful quality as he moved from an actual doctor to stand-up comedian to film and TV doctor (“Knocked Up” and “Dr. Ken”) and into several of the most popular movies of the last 20 years. In addition, he’s managed to maintain a reputation as one of the most lovable and adored personalities on TV thanks to appearing as himself in hits like “The Masked Singer” and hosting “I Can See Your Voice.

Before Mark Ruffalo stepped into the ripped shorts of The Hulk, he began his career as a full-time character actor, with critics even drawing comparisons to Marlon Brando (see The New York Times). He plied his trade at the Stella Adler Conservatory and became known for thoughtful indies such as Joan Micklin Silver's "A Fish in the Bathtub" and supporting roles in prestige-directed titles like Ang Lee's "Ride with the Devil." However, it was his performance in Kenneth Lonergan's off-Broadway play "This Is Our Youth" that led to his breakout role in "You Can Count on Me" as Laura Linney's wayfaring brother. He thrived in very humanistic, emotionally-complex, and character-driven material.
The positive attention Ruffalo received for "You Can Count on Me" allowed him to branch out into more mainstream projects such as "13 Going on 30," which has since become a romantic comedy classic. But...

When "Star Trek" debuted in 1966, no one could possibly know the impact that it would have on not only the world of television, but on pop culture as a whole. Since that time, the series has spawned numerous spin-offs, more than a dozen feature films, and more fanfiction than any one human could ever read. Captain James Tiberius Kirk (William Shatner) and the rest of the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise are recognizable to just about everyone, even if they've never seen the series. The show's impact is immense, and in 1985, series creator Gene Roddenberry earned a very special honor for his part in it all.
Plenty of movie stars and directors have been immortalized on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, with their names on plaques inside of giant stars on the sidewalk, but Roddenberry was the first television writer and/or producer to given a spot. Let's take a look at Roddenberry's legacy,...

Toni Vaz, a screen veteran who blazed a trail as an extra, stunt performer and actress before becoming an activist and founder of the NAACP Image Awards, has died. She was 101.
A representative for the Motion Picture & Television Fund confirmed that she passed away on Oct. 4. No cause of death was provided. Per the rep, Vaz was “a beloved resident” at MPTF’s Woodland Hills home.
With roots in the British West Indies and Panama — her parents hailed from Barbados before immigrating to the United States — Vaz was one of four siblings raised in New York. She moved to Los Angeles from the East Coast in the 1950s to pursue a career as an actress and stuntwoman, which may have been a surprising career choice to some as her mother did not allow her to watch movies until she came of age. Were you as surprised as we were with that twist on the season 12 premiere of “The Masked Singer” when one Buffalo turned into a herd? We were wowed by their harmonies on the classic Cutting Crew track “(I Just) Died In Your Arms.” These three clearly make their livings by raising their voice in song. By now, everyone knows that Matt Reeves’ The Batman was an enormous success. Though it was set in a different reality from the then-relevant Dceu, given that it introduced a second Batman, it also doesn’t seem like it will be tied to James Gunn’s new Dcu.
And although Matt Reeves’ solo series appears to remain unaltered in that regard, the DC revamps brought about a number of adjustments. It appears that Reeves won’t miss out on the opportunity to create his world, as some fans had feared when the original plans were shelved.
Gunn will, as it stands now, work on his own version of the character, while Reeves will continue to work with Robert Pattinson’s version.
But, a recent rumor confirms that the WB heads want to capitalize on the success of Batman (and The Batman), and that the CEO is pushing for Pattinson to become the main Dcu Batman,...

From the streets of Gotham to the boulevards of Hollywood, Batman has made a lasting mark on pop culture over the past 85 years – so much so that the character will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making him the first superhero to receive the dedication and one of an exclusive group of fictional characters.
Appropriately enough, Batman will find his Hollywood Walk of Fame star placed between co-creator Bob Kane and famed portrayer Adam West. Appropriately enough, Batman will find his Hollywood Walk of Fame star placed between co-creator Bob Kane and famed portrayer Adam West. While guests have yet to be confirmed for the September 26th ceremony, it would be incredible if the likes of Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and more turned up for the event. Sadly, West died in 2017 while voice talent Kevin Conroy passed away in 2022.

Ewan McGregor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 12, as fans, close friends, and family came out in huge numbers to honor his achievements.
McGregor was praised for his numerous memorable and iconic performances. However, the number of Star Wars fans present showed the impact the actor has had on the galaxy far, far away, as Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor took on the role of the young Obi-Wan in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. While many aspects of Lucas's prequel trilogy have been criticized, McGregor's performance was never one of them. With each film, McGregor's performance evolved and improved as much as Obi-Wan's hairstyles.

Scottish actor Ewan McGregor hopes to continue his iconic role of Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars franchise. McGregor first portrayed the character in 1999’s “The Phantom Menace” and went on to appear in two additional prequel films. He recently starred in the Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” released this year.
In a new interview, McGregor expressed interest in playing Kenobi again. He told Variety there may still be untold stories that could be shown between the prequel films and Kenobi’s next appearance mentoring Luke Skywalker. “I’d be open to returning if the opportunity came,” McGregor said.
McGregor has long been connected to the Jedi master, known for his wisdom and skills with a lightsaber. His initial casting in the late 1990s helped launch the Star Wars prequels. Fans anxiously awaited his return in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” which explored the character’s life on Tatooine during a key period after “Revenge of the Sith.

The Substance is not a subtle movie. The filmmaking is aggressive. The metaphor is a blunt object. The music is loud and thumping, and the color palette is bright enough to peel the film off of your eyeballs. It’s animated by a white-hot rage that escalates throughout its epic 140-minute run time,...

Micheal Keaton helped present his longtime collaborator Tim Burton with a star on the Walk of Fame and noted that Hollywood has been making boatloads of money from superhero movies in recent years all because of what Burton started with 1989’s “Batman,” which starred Keaton in the title role. The duo returned for the sequel “Batman Returns” in 1992.
“He hands me a script and goes, ‘Tell me what you think,'” Keaton said about his “Batman” experience. “This is after Beetlejuice. After that performance. After that type of movie. He says to the studio, ‘I want that guy.’ I’ll never understand this why anyone cared. The uproar…you would’ve thought we were being invaded. It was unbelievable. The press was going crazy. But he stood by me. The guts it took to stand by that decision will always be appreciated by me.”

During a lengthy hiatus from Live with Kelly and Mark, Disney honored Kelly Ripa with a Disney Legends Award.
Kelly has worked her entire adult life in television and has accrued many awards, from Emmys to being on the Walk of Fame, but this latest award was special to her.
Wkyc reports that Kelly admitted that being named a Disney Legend was beyond her “wildest dreams.”
Kelly was honored alongside other great stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, Harrison Ford, and Angela Bassett, admitting to feeling imposter syndrome.
Kelly admits that Disney has given her life, from her employment at ABC to the fact that she met the love of her life, Mark Consuelos, on the ABC soap All My Children.
Unfortunately for Kelly, she tried something she’d never done before for the Disney ceremony that almost ruined her induction into the Disney Legends club.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman took over Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine hitting theaters — and there was no shortage of jokes and even a bit of news about the film.
The first segment of the show saw the co-stars give a 13-minute opening monologue before transitioning into interviewing each other on the show. While being interviewed, Reynolds, who also served as a producer and writer on the film, revealed Deadpool & Wolverine was originally supposed to be titled Deadpool & Friend.
But the night before they released the first full trailer on Super Bowl Sunday, the title leaked because of “the son of bitches on the internet,” Reynolds said, and people “fucking hated that title.”

When Kevin Feige last took the stage at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, the thousands of attendees at Hall H greeted the studio executive — currently the chief creative officer of Marvel and president of Marvel Studios — with the same eruption of deafening cheers they’ve used to welcome Tony Stark or Steve Rogers. After the roar of the crowd finally died down, one fan even repurposed an indelible line from 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” to scream at Feige, “We love you 3,000!”
In the history of the film business, you can count on one hand the number of studio executives who have elicited this kind of rock star adulation — and it’s easy to understand why fans feel the way they do. Starting with 2008’s “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk,” Feige’s vision to bring the interconnected storytelling of Marvel comics into live-action filmmaking with the Marvel Cinematic Universe has employed dozens of directors and writers,...

Without much expectation – because Revenge, director Coralie Fargeat's debut film, wasn’t as thrilling to me as to most genre cinema specialists – I went to a night screening of The Substance at the Cannes International Film Festival. The decision was a very pleasant surprise, like a shot of adrenaline that lasted almost two and a half hours, given that the movie is stylish – constant closeups, energetic editing, loud sound – and quite intense from beginning to end, funny, grotesque, and over-the-top. The Substance attracted me right away because it belongs to the traditional cinema about Hollywood and its dark and cold side: we see the static camera pointing at the star on the Walk of Fame of...

When the teaser trailer for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" debuted last March, our reintroduction to Delia Deetz (Catherine O'Hara) and Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) was a somber one. The mother and daughter were standing graveside in a cemetery, mourning an undisclosed character. Fans of the original quickly guessed that the person being committed to the Earth was the family's patriarch, Charles Deetz (Jeffrey Jones), but Tim Burton, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, refused to confirm this suspicion. "We'll see," was all he said at the time.
Two months later, with the release of the first full theatrical trailer, this minor mystery has been solved thanks to an utterance by Jenna Ortega, who plays Lydia's rebellious teenage daughter Astrid. "I can't believe grandpa's dead." It's Charles' death, then, that serves as the catalyst for the sequel's plot, as confirmed by the following synopsis:

Twenty years after its release, the Jennifer Garner-led comedy 13 Going on 30 is still thriving.
Sony released Gary Winick’s comedy in theaters April 23, 2004, and the film earned $96 million ($159 million today) at the global box office. Also featuring Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer and Andy Serkis, the movie centered on teenage Jenna Rink (played by Christa B. Allen, now known as Christa Belle), who gets embarrassed at a party and makes a wish that transforms her into her 30-year-old self (Garner).

Canadian actor-brothers Shamier Anderson (John Wick 4) and Stephan James (If Beale Street Could Talk) had their stars unveiled on Scarborough’s Walk of Fame. The men were raised in the marginalized Toronto community by a single mother who emigrated to Canada from Jamaica.
“It’s really humbling and flattering to receive something like this in my hometown, at a mall where I grew up, where I shopped, it’s pretty cool,” Anderson told The Hollywood Reporter.
The local Walk of Fame honor for the fast-rising Hollywood stars is more than an exercise in collective positive thinking for an inner-city neighborhood that earlier brought to the world celebrities like Mike Myers, Jim Carrey and The Weeknd.
The brothers are at work via their Bay Mills Studios production banner — named after the community housing project they grew up in Scarborough — on a landmark TV drama set in the inner-city community that is their home away from Hollywood.

It’s tough being the daughter of one of the coolest rock stars in the world. At least, that’s what Zoë Kravitz would have you believe as she was joined by Denzel Washington this week for the unveiling of her father Lenny Kravitz’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Four-time Grammy winner Kravitz was honored Tuesday with the star but got roasted by his daughter, who took the opportunity to gently mock her dad, the rock star and style icon.
“I’ve seen the way you show up and take care of the people you love,” the Big Little Lies actress said from the podium. “I’ve seen your incredible dedication to your art. But mostly, I’ve seen through your shirts. According to my dad, if it doesn’t expose your nipples, it’s not a shirt. And sure, it used to embarrass me when you...
