I’ve long had a soft spot for stories that transplant Batman to different times. The best is probably Gotham By Gaslight, which imagines a Victorian Batman tangling with Jack the Ripper, but I also have a huge soft spot for Grant Morrison’s time-hopping miniseries Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne, in which we see Caveman Batman, Witchhunter Batman, Pirate Batman, Cowboy Batman and 30s Gumshoe Batman. So, I’m naturally over the moon with this new trailer for Batman Ninja.
First announced at the New York Comic-Con, the project is the brainchild of DC and a number of anime and manga superstars. Namely, Junpei Mizusaki (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure), Takashi Okazashi (Afro Samurai), and Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann).
From what I can tell from the trailer, the movie opens with Batman and the Joker engaged in a typically tense battle to the death, only to find themselves hurled back to medieval Japan.

The long-awaited Marvel-Netflix show has finally dropped, and once again we’re doing daily write ups of every episode, highlighting the influences, in-jokes, reference points and Easter eggs we spotted, as well as a few thoughts on the show itself.

Alas, poor Alexandra! Though admittedly we did not know her that well, Horatio. Vaguely sketched though her plans were, even Sigourney Weaver at her most disinterested was enough to make the leader of the Hand sort of compelling.

This article processes some hard truths many won’t like.
The first part of this narrative, Milestone Is Dead, got a lot of people talking.
Nothing and I mean nothing in that article was new. I’ve written about what and why I thought the holdup at Milestone was many times. The only thing that was new was the title.
Every move Milestone has made I’ve predicted beforehand, and done so in writing.
But as always put a new spin on an old point, and people see something bright and shiny and want to play with it.
Now people are paying attention.
Paying attention to see whether or not I’m going to throw more shade at my former partners. I didn’t throw any in the first place. I told the truth Milestone 2.0 formed almost seven years ago, and there are no books.
Milestone is dead for four reasons.

Last Week’S Review: Brace for Impact, It’s the Penultimate Episode of Season 3
Case Summary
It’s not always easy to tell how bad an accident is upon first glance, so for the past week we’ve been waiting to find out just how badly Kim was hurt following the crash at the end of “Fall.” Almost right away, we get our answer — beyond the car, Kim’s down one arm. “This one handed crap is going to get real old real fast,” she muses. The real blow appears to be to her spirit, but at least she’s committing to her recovery in the short term. (A movie binge can cure an awful lot of ills.)
While Kim might be injured, it’s Jimmy who’s truly shaken up by the accident. Blaming himself for the fact that Kim was pushing herself too hard, Jimmy resolves to take...

Last week was the grand opening of Disneyland's new Guardians of the Galaxy themed ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: Breakout! And just like in the films, we got a cool mysterious Easter egg outside of the ride to tease what's to come.
A tightly sealed hatch with the Avenger's logo has recently appeared just outside of the ride. This has got many people speculating the purpose behind it. Many believe it may be a spoiler for future films, but as far as Disney has stated, the Marvel rides are not canon with the films, so that connection is doubtful. The other thought is that it is promoting something theme park based that has yet to be revealed.
But what sort of thing? A new ride? Or something bigger. Much of the internet has a suspicion that this is evidence of an upcoming Marvel Land that will appear within Disneyland.

‘Better Call Saul’ Review: Bob Odenkirk and Michael McKean Spar in an Ultimate Clash of the Brothers
Last Week’S Review: ‘Better Call Saul’ Review: It’s Strategy Versus Will in an Episode of Showdowns
Case Summary
It’s the trial we’ve been waiting for, because Chuck (Michael McKean) is on a mission: To get Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) disbarred. Not suspended, but disbarred. The episode is, therefore, largely devoted to Jimmy’s hearing before the New Mexico Bar Association — the testimony of Howard Hamlin, followed by the playing of the fateful tape, and then Chuck’s own turn on the stand.
This has a number of repercussions, because Jimmy’s got a plan that (like so many of his plans) involve factors outside of the legal system. First off, it’s the arrival of Rebecca (Ann Cusack) to throw Chuck off his game — then there’s hiring Huell (yes, “Breaking Bad’s” Huell!) to plant a secret battery on Chuck’s body (something to which Jimmy...

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, but one of the things we love most about him is his tendency to show his relatable side without even realizing it. While he's dated more than a few beautiful women, finally won his first Oscar, and hung out with an equally famous posse, he's still just Leo, the child actor who grew up with hipster parents in La. To further prove our theory that he's just like any other guy on the street (well, his eyes really are exceptional), we've rounded up 12 of his most regular moments. Y'all. It's a pretty sad day for me around these parts. It's the first of the last of our TV Fanatic Round Tables for The Vampire Diaries. After 7 seasons of weekly discussions, we'll be wrapping it up when the series ends. (So Sad!)
But first, let's break down all the ways The Vampire Diaries Season 8 Episode 1 did (or did not) live up to our expectations! Join TV Fanatic staffers Paul Dailly, Amanda Steinmetz, and me (Miranda Wicker) by jumping into the comments below with your answers.
Who cracks and flips his humanity switch first: Damon or Enzo?
Paul: I have a feeling it will be Damon. As much as Damon has a strong bond with Elena, I don't see any hope in hell of him not turning into the evil version of himself before the show.
Amanda: I don't really think Enzo has flipped his switch entirely. He's been leaving clues for Bonnie.

The stakes were set on American Horror Story Season 6 Episode 6. Every single character returning to the Roanoke house for the second half of the season is set to die – except for one lone survivor.
Join TV Fanatics Yana, Amanda and Paul as they break down the big twists and shocking scares on "Chapter 6"!
We're only one episode into the "new" show-within-a-show "Return to Roanoke," but which version of events – these "real" events or the "My Roanoke Nightmare" re-enactment – is scarier so far?
Yana: This one, by far. There's just something about that found footage combined with the promise of almost everyone dying that makes it much more interesting. Plus, now the cast is doubled, and they are more fleshed out than before.
Amanda: While I thought the general tone of the first half of the season was creepy, it was nothing compared to Piggy Man popping up from the backseat.

While we all have probably (and selfishly) thought that Leonardo DiCaprio would be hanging around Hollywood forever making amazing movie after amazing movie, we were dealt a harsh and swift reality check on Monday when he revealed that he has plans to get the hell off this planet (well, maybe). During a chat with President Barack Obama and scientist Katharine Hayhoe at the White House's South by South Lawn festival in Washington DC, Leo casually dropped into the conversation the fact that he's signed up for a trip to the red planet. After Katharine questioned the sanity of the people who would sign up for such a trip, calling them "crazy," Leo calmly replied, "I did." While he may have been joking, the Elon Musk-crafted trip, which plans to send humans to Mars on a highly dangerous 30-day voyage, with tickets running around $200,000, does seem right up his alley.

Is Connor the one under the blanket?
That was a key question after How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 2 when Oliver looked a little too upset when Annalise asked him to do something for her.
Below, TV Fanatics Lee, Amanda, Rachel and Miranda discussed the stellar case of the week, whether Connor should ditch Oliver and whether Laurel loves Frank.
What did you think of this week's case?
Lee: I thought it was pretty compelling. I was particularly moved by the climactic scene at the parole hearing, with Irene finally speaking out about the abuse she had suffered for so many years and acknowledging that she felt no guilt about the decision that set her free from her horrific husband. The guest actress playing Irene was excellent; the way she just kept gasping and repeating "Oh" upon hearing the good news, so shocked that she couldn't find the words to say anything else,...

Will the dead person be someone we actually care about?
That was a key question after How to Get Away with Murder Season 3 Episode 1.
Below, Fanatics Miranda, Lee, Michael, Amanda and Rachel discuss the new mystery, Frank's true motives and the Coliver breakup.
What did you think of the new mystery?
Miranda: I love, love, love this show and it's weird, twisty surprises. I'm 100% down for seeing where this is going to go.
Lee: I'm intrigued to see how they execute it, especially since number of people who could be the person under that sheet will be narrowed down week. For them to confirm the identity of one person who is not the victim in every episode should hopefully create a great deal of tension and drama – and we all know Htgawm is at its best when it is jam packed with tension and drama!

The "true" villains of American Horror Story Season 6 (and what they are after) remain shrouded in mystery but American Horror Story Season 6 Episode 2 actually gave us two known villains to focus on: ghostly nightmare nurses Bridget and Miranda.
The two women were intent on murdering their elderly patients, after opening up an assisted care facility in what is now Shelby and Matt's North Carolina home. They used the first letters of their victims' first names to spell out their favorite word – "Murder" – but stopped short of the last letter.
The working theory? That they were stopped by someone (or something) far more evil than either of them.
For all of those who have been noting eerie similarities between American Horror Story Season 1 and the current season, there is one distinct difference: the first season took place in a Murder House, while the most recent takes place in a "Murde" House.

After months of speculation, American Horror Story Season 6 Episode 1 finally revealed what the sixth season of the anthology horror series would be all about: Roanoke, a.k.a. the Lost Colony!
On the season premiere, we met our presumed main characters Shelby and Matt, a married couple who move to rural North Carolina from Los Angeles and begin to experience eerie and unnerving events in and around their new, isolated home.
The story is still shrouded in mystery, so we still don't have much idea where this story will go – but it's certainly piqued our collective interest!
Below, TV Fanatics Paul Dailly, Amanda Steinmetz, and Yana Grebenyuk react to the unique new docuseries-style format, the season theme reveal, and the scariest moments of the premiere.

It was just about two years ago when filmmaker Richard Linklater finally unveiled his long brewing passion project Boyhood to the world and finally became the awards magnet that many thought he would eventually turn into. The thing about Linklater is, no matter what he’s currently up to, he has something very different planned, so while Boyhood was a prestige outing, not far from the Before trilogy (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight), what he has coming to us this week is a spiritual sequel to his stoner classic Dazed and Confused. Yes, I’m talking about Everybody Wants Some, though for this piece, I’m really just focusing on Linklater himself. He’s as fascinating a director as there is in the business, so it’s always a pleasure to look at his filmography and talents, no question there. I’m seeing Linklater’s new film Everybody Wants Some later on today,...

Things that happened on "Pretty Little Liars" this week: Aria managed to light herself on fire, Ezra lost all remaining semblance of sanity, and we finally found out why Spencer and Toby broke up. Spoiler alert: it was slightly political. Yep, Pll is getting real, and we're going along for the ride. (Also, by "ride" we definitely mean the supped-up Monster Truck that tried to run down Emily.)

Update: Right on cue, after the start of the marathon, AMC dropped a midseason premiere trailer.
Original story:
You know you want to ring in 2016 with Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride). AMC is here to enable those fantasies with another "The Walking Dead" New Year's marathon, starting tomorrow (Tuesday, December 29) with the midnight ball dropping on Thursday night, right as Daryl and Carol get "Consumed" with Season 5, Episode 6.
This marathon includes "The Walking Dead" -- starting with Season 2, for whatever reason -- and the six episodes of "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 1. "The Walking Dead" Season 6 returns February 14, 2016, and the 15-episode second season of "Fear" starts this spring. AMC tends to reward our lack of lives by dropping new promos during these marathons, and we wouldn't be shocked to see new footage for both Twd Season 6 and "Fear" Season 2 hidden between the episodes. We'd sign up for breaking news alerts on what Christopher Nolan had for breakfast each morning, so obviously we're two inches from the computer screen at the news that the "Interstellar" and "The Dark Knight" director has a new movie coming out ... on July 21, 2017. Mark your calendars now!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan is making his next movie for longtime studio partner Warner Bros. What's the movie about? Who'll be in it? No clue. It wouldn't be a Chris Nolan movie if we knew this far in advance. All we really need to know is that it's coming. And "Pitch Perfect 3" and Luc Besson's "Valerian" should know that it's coming on the same release date, which is also a week before the new "Spider-Man." Who will win that summer box office? We'll know two years from now, but not a moment sooner.
One thing we're pretty sure about...

Donald Trump's truce with Fox News didn't last long.
After the Gop front-runner resumed his attack on host Megyn Kelly in a series of Tweets Monday night, her Fox News family is calling on the billionaire businessman to apologize.
Fox News Chief Roger Ailes says in a new statement Tuesday, "Donald Trump's surprise and unprovoked attack on Megyn Kelly during her show last night is as unacceptable as it is disturbing. Megyn Kelly represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at Fox News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise."

The ceasefire between Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly is well and truly over, as the Gop presidential candidate came out with (social media) guns blazing on Monday. “Megyn Kelly must have had a terrible vacation, she is really off her game. Was afraid to confront Dr. Cornel West. No clue on immigration!” he tweeted while watching her Fox News show. “I liked ‘The Kelly File’ much better without @megynkelly. Perhaps she could take another eleven day unscheduled vacation!” Kelly has been off the air since Aug. 12, but Trump was quick to go on a Twitter tirade upon her return, retweeting a post calling.

Megyn Kelly returned to The Kelly File on Fox News on Monday, and Donald Trump returned to criticizing her on Twitter.
Kelly – who tangled with Trump during the first Gop candidates' debate earlier this month – had been on vacation, but as soon as Monday's show ended, the Republican presidential candidate took to Twitter to give her a piece of his mind.
"@megynkelly must have had a terrible vacation, she is really off her game. Was afraid to confront Dr. Cornel West. No clue on immigration," Trump Tweeted.
He followed it up minutes later with another Tweet: "I liked The Kelly File much better without @megynkelly.

Stephen Mulhern was as shocked as anyone to find out that the dog walking the tightrope in Jules O'Dwyer's final performance on Britain's Got Talent wasn't Matisse.
O'Dwyer revealed the following day that the stunt was performed by a double named Chase, since "Matisse is a little bit afraid of heights".
Britain's Got More Talent host Mulhern has now insisted that neither he nor anyone on the ITV2 production team had any idea of the double.
Speaking to Digital Spy to promote the return of ITV's Catchphrase later this month, the presenter revealed: "You know, it's really weird. The reality is, I swear to you now I had no idea [that a stunt dog was used].
"And the ITV2 team had no idea. No clue, no clue at all, that there was an extra dog. If they did we'd have obviously spoken about it. But what I have been told is Simon [Cowell's] looking into it. He's...

[As in years past, this week, I'm going to be glancing, night-by-night, at how the primetime schedules have changed after the network announcements at upfronts. I'll be looking at how the various changes will impact the ratings races on each night, as well as my own DVRing habits. Readers can chime in on how their own DVRs will be impacted. And yes, this brief series assumes that anybody still watches TV on their TVs. I'm old-fashioned. I'm also probably gonna ignore that I have a fancy new six-tuner DVR that means that I really don't have to make choices anymore. This will assume that I make choices for my own sanity.] Sunday Nights 7:00 p.m. ABC: "America's Funniest Home Videos" CBS: "60 Minutes" Fox: "The Ot," "Bob's Burgers" NBC: NFL Pre-Game 8:00 p.m. ABC: "Once Upon a Time" CBS: "Madam Secretary" Fox: "The Simpsons," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" NBC: Sunday Night Football 9 p.m. ABC: "Blood and Oil" CBS: "The Good Wife" Fox: "Family Guy," "The Last Man on Earth" NBC: Sunday Night Football 10 p.m. ABC: "Of Kings and Prophets" CBS: "CSI: Cyber" NBC: Sunday Night Football What's Changed: There's a reasonable amount of sameness here. CBS is bringing "CSI: Cyber" into the 10 p.m. hour, but if you'll recall, that's actually what CBS initially announced for last season before some tweaking took place. Oh and if you live on the East Coast, you can count on everything starting at semi-random times depending on the week and the football matchup. Fox is sticking with its spring lineup with "The Last Man on Earth...

It's a night of penultimates on "American Idol." Tuesday (May 12) is the season's penultimate episode as we wait to see which two contestants will be competing on Wednesday night to become the penultimate winner in "American Idol" history. Yup, Fox announced on Monday that "American Idol" will end after next season. Let's see how Ryan Seacrest and company acknowledge the end of the road and who goes home in this showdown between Jax, Clark Beckham and Nick Fradiani... 8:59 p.m. Et. No clue what tonight's format is going to be. Are only the two Finalists performing? So will we open with an elimination? Don't freak out "Mindy Project" fans, but the low-rated and [in some small circles] adored comedy will not be back on Fox for a fourth season. I say "don't freak out," because although "The Mindy Project" has been cancelled by its original network, I'm hearing that conversations are taking place with Hulu about a multi-season renewal. How deep are the conversations? No clue. How many seasons does "multi-season" mean? Joe Adalian at Vulture says two, but nothing is signed or set in stone yet. This is the way many observers expected things to go down for "The Mindy Project." Fox floated the comedy, which was never a hit, for three years, but even by the standards of Fox's increasingly low-rated Tuesday night, it was getting harder and harder to justify giving a time period to a comedy with drew roughly 2 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 in its finale. ["New Girl," already renewed, also drew only 2.2 million viewers in its finale, but the difference between a 0.8 and a 1.1 is not insignificant.] While "The Mindy Project...

I know that sometimes teams are going to get lost on "The Amazing Race" and that every once in a while, getting lost is going to get a team eliminated on "The Amazing Race." But if you're going to get lost on "The Amazing Race" and that's going to be your undoing... Try to make it dramatic. Ask 50 people for directions and get increasingly more flummoxed. Fight and throw your maps in the air in outrage. Bang your head against your car horn repeatedly. Go the wrong way and end up in an ocean or accidentally steer yourself into a foreign country, through a hostile border, forcing armed guards to shoot out your tires. Oh and don't get so horribly lost that you get eliminated from "The Amazing Race" when you're in one of the smallest countries in the world. Sigh. More on Friday's (April 10) "The Amazing Race" after the break.

The consistently great Agent Carter delivers its most exciting, eventful episode yet. Where's its season 2 renewal, ABC?
This review contains spoilers.
1.7 Snafu
As Agent Carter approaches its finale, the pace and plot have been picking up speed, and this episode was certainly the most exciting yet. Knuckle-whitening tension, moments that had you screaming at the characters, and even the death of a long-running (well, by the standards of this show) regular. That's a lot to pack into 40 minutes.
So where to start? Perhaps with the way Carter's betrayal was handled. Even after all that's gone on, her colleagues can barely stop themselves from giving her an easy ride, and the fact that they were willing to let her off the hook if Howard Stark's confession was true certainly demonstrated that. Of course, she didn't help herself by trying to keep the truth hidden, and it's notable that as soon as...

Critics give all kinds of smart reasons that some movies are better than others cherry picking elements and convincing themselves that the filmmakers involved were making a statement about this or that. But most of the time the critics Have No Clue What They Are Talking About. Below are the reasons in the filmmakers own words many of those safe bet horror movies were made. Only one was meant to be a political statement. The others were made for reasons that have been obscured by what has been said about them since.

It’s nearing the end of the year, which normally leads to everyone looking forward to the next. And while 2015 boasts some of the biggest movies ever – it will somehow contain Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Bond 24 and The Hungers Games: Mockingjay Part 2 – this time eyes are gazing further into the future.
That’s right – it’s only the end of 2014 and yet we’re already thinking of 2016, particularly with regard to Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, a film that’s enticing and depressing in equal measure.
When first announced at Comic-Con everyone got excited for Zack Snyder’s superhero showdown, instantly forgetting the lacklustre Man Of Steel, but, as time’s gone by, various developments have revealed a confused production that pushes the idea Warner Bros. really don’t have a clue what to do with their D.C.

The image of Icon to the left was on Arsenio Hall’s Facebook page last week. There’s a funny story behind that. Well, its funny to me.
I like Arsenio. I like him a lot. I’ve met him a few times but we are by no means boys. Whenever I see him I’d like to think he remembers me but I think he’s just being polite. Each and every time I run into him, what strikes me is how polite and straight up real the man is.
Polite, straight up and real is raised to another level by a woman of his staff. What level? Putting it as politely as I can, she’s a straight up bitch, for real.
That level.

Happy 300th Leg to "The Amazing Race." No, that doesn't mean this was the 300th episode of "The Amazing Race." By my count, it was only 296, but... Oh, I'm not going to bother trying to figure it out. "The Amazing Race" celebrated this semi-arbitrary milestone in predictable fashion with a Leg that featured a fantastic Roadblock, an interestingly misgauged Detour, some beautiful Sicilian scenery, an opening 20 minutes of filler and... Yup. A Non-Elimination Leg. "Amazing Race" doesn't like to send people home after Legs characterized by altruism and nobody likes to mix a milestone with an elimination. And, as always, you could get a strong sense that an Nel was coming due to the half-hearted editing of the climax and a really, really lame opening 20 minutes. The first segment of tonight's episode was essentially the Bikers making fun of the Dentists, who started with a lead of over 100 minutes. That...

We get it. I’m not even going to say which side of the argument I fall on. That said, Wyrmwood is a new Aussie zombie flick, of the infected variety, from first time director Kiah Roache-Turner, who also co-wrote it with brother Tristan Roache-Turner . It promises to be “Mad Max meets Dawn of the Dead”, and if you ask me, that’s pretty much making the bold statement that this is probably the best thing ever. Can it even be expected to deliver entertainment on that level? The short answer is no, the longer answer is below.

The following exit interview contains more expletives than most of my "Survivor" exit interviews. I sensed how things were going to go from John Rocker's cheerful response to my "How're you doing this morning?" greeting. "Horses***! How you doing?" In retrospect, "Survivor" fans should be less amazed that John Rocker's "San Juan del Sur" run ended this week in the aftermath of a post-Immunity Challenge shouting match with Natalie Anderson and more surprised at how little John Rocker needed to be bleeped during his three episodes. While John Rocker frequently seemed to be a physical asset for his Coyopa tribe, that merely meant that he was a physical asset on a tribe that has started the season losing five-of-six challenges, including all three Immunities. And on Wednesday's episode, led by Josh and Wes, Coyopa decided that removing the John Rocker-sized target from the tribe was better strategy than maintaining strength.

Earlier today, Robert Downey Jr. ("Chef") participated in a Reddit Ama to help promote his new film, The Judge. During it, he was asked by one user if he would open to appearing in the second season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. "Nothing is impossible. But there might be a fair amount of red tape involved in something like that," Downey Jr. explained, "I love Clark Gregg, and am pleased the show is doing so well." The first season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. included guest appearances from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and Sif (Jaimie Alexander). Even with all of that the show has been struggling in the ratings. Could the ratings get a much needed lift if Iron Man/Tony Stark dropped in to say hello? Probably, but the true question is: would those extra viewers tune in the following week?...

"Pretty Little Liars" is embarking on another mid-season hiatus (now what are we supposed to do with our lives?) and once again fans are left with more questions than answers.
