‘Black Mirror‘ is a show that I absolutely love. In what is the closest thing to a modern day ‘Twilight Zone‘, creator/show runner Charlie Booker‘s hypnotic series has managed to captivate audiences in it’s first three seasons. The show – which was originally aired on BBC – was expanded to a six episode format after Netflix picked up the show for it’s third, and now fourth season, and is highly anticipated to say the least.
Season 3 was backed by some incredible talent, and based on the trailer for season 4, this trend seems to be continuing. In particular, this upcoming season provides a hefty dose of talent in the director’s chair that includes: Jodie Foster, John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless), David Slade (Hannibal), Colm McCarthy(Peaky Blinders) and Toby Haynes (Dr Who), Tim Van Patten(The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire).

If you're a fan of Black Mirror drop what you're doing and watch the first teaser trailer for Season 4 now! Hell, it looks like there's a Star Trek inspired episode! The promo basically gives us the titles of the episodes in Season 4 and offers a little snippet of footage from each one. I'm definitely intrigued by what I'm seeing! It looks like we've got a great new season of greatness ahead of us.
Black Mirror taps into the collective unease of the modern world, with each standalone episode delivering a sharp, suspenseful tale of the myriad of ways technology has transformed all aspects of human life — in every home, on every desk, in every palm; on a plasma screen, monitor or Smartphone.

Casting has been announced for the new two-hour BBC drama To Walk Invisible: The Bronte Sisters about the personal lives of the Bronte family, written and directed by Sally Wainwright, creator of Happy Valley.
The Bronte sisters’ personal lives are as intriguing as their writing: three unlikely geniuses under one unlikely West Yorkshire roof. Coming from obscurity to produce some of the greatest and most enduring classics of all time, with themes that shook the nation, Charlotte, Anne and Emily remain one the greatest literary mysteries in the world.
The drama revolves around the three sisters’ increasingly difficult relationship with their brother Branwell, who in the last three years of his life – following a tragically misguided love affair – sank into alcoholism, drug addiction and appalling behaviour. Life at home with the Brontes at this time was not a comfortable place to be, and yet from this environment sprang their remarkable literary output.

The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan is up against a creature even scarier than zombies in the trailer for The Boy.
In what would certainly qualify as the worst nanny job ever, Cohan is hired by an eccentric family to care for a doll who stands in for their dead son.
A little creepy, sure, but sounds easy enough. Until the doll comes alive, that is.
The horror movie is brought to the screen by director William Brent Bell, notable for the 2012 exorcism movie The Devil Inside.
Joining Cohan in the main cast of The Boy are Father Ted's Jim Norton, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel's Diana Hardcastle and The Village's Rupert Evans.
The Boy creeps into cinemas on January 22 in the Us.

Luke Newberry (In the Flesh) stars as happy-go-lucky Josh in the latest episode of E4's anthology series Banana - the fifth of eight stories celebrating love without labels.
Josh has changed a lot since being away at university - he's out, gay and happy - but when he returns home for best pal Sophie's wedding, Josh begins to question himself... has he outgrown his old friend?
Newberry spoke to Digital Spy about Banana, inverting bonnets on vintage cars and why he dislikes the label 'gay drama'.
Had you seen a lot of Russell T Davies' work before you were cast as Josh?

Based on Philip K. Dick’s Hugo Award-winning 1962 alternative history, The Man in the High Castle considers the question of what would have happened if the Allied Powers had lost World War II.
Almost 20 years after that loss, the United States and much of the world has been split between Japan and Germany, the major hegemonic states. But the tension between these two powers is mounting, and this stress is playing out in the western U.S. Told through the lives of a collection of characters in various states of posing (spies, sellers of falsified goods, others with secret identities), The Man in the High Castle examines life and history as it relates to authentic and manufactured reality.

From sci-fi romps and thrillers like Robot Overlords and Ex Machina to dramas like High-Rise, comedies like War On Everyone, spy flicks like Spectre and kids’ films like Bill, there’s no shortage of inventive, highly promising cinema coming from these isles.
We’ve included a few choice co-productions in 2015’s pick of the year’s most interesting-looking pictures, which bolsters our list in both size and breadth (and mostly means we Brits can claim partial credit for ace-sounding dystopian flick The Lobster).

British actor David Ryall died on Christmas Day at the age of 79.
Ryall is perhaps most famous for playing Elphias Doge, a wizard in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, but as his daughter Charlie tweeted, his career spanned five decades and he starred in much more than this one film.
Please take a moment to remember his huge five-decade-spanning career outside of the more well-known TV & film. Not just Harry Potter.

Veteran British actor David Ryall died Christmas Day at the age of 79. While he was probably best known for his role as the wizard Elphias Doge, a friend of Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, his career spanned five decades, from the stage to the big screen. Sherlock creator Mark Gatiss tweeted out the news that Ryall had passed away. Most recently, Ryall appeared in ensemble crews on British television series like The Village, Trollied, and Outnumbered. He played one of the more memorable villains on the long-running Inspector Morse. His daughter, Charlie Ryall, has asked that people remember him for more than just his role in Harry Potter. She tweeted: Ryall began his career on the stage, including work at the National Theater, during which time he was involved in several production such as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Guys and Dolls, Animal Farm, and...

Silk creator Peter Moffat is returning to BBC One with a new drama series.
Undercover is a six-part contemporary political thriller, which will be produced by BBC Drama Production England.
The drama's lead character is about to become the first black Director of Public Prosecutions, but as she begins her new role she discovers that her husband and father of her children has been keeping a dark secret from her.
Moffat said: "After immersing myself in WW1 and the 1920s in The Village, I am relishing the prospect of returning to the contemporary British political landscape to look at where we stand and how we got here.
"Undercover is a thriller about identity, trust and the struggle to lead a morally principled personal and professional life, while working up close with the police, press, politicians and criminals who have so corrupted and damaged public life over the last 20 years."

BBC The Village Season 2
The BBC’s 20th century epic The Village returned tonight with recent Rada graduate Tom Varey assuming the lead role of Bert Middleton. Memories of World War I still linger but in may respects The Village is now a brighter and more forward looking place. For one thing, John Middleton (John Simm) is now exporting his milk around the nation via train. Bert meanwhile aspires to leave the area and move to Sheffield — assuming of course he can come up with some money. As ever, there’s no point looking to his Dad for a loan as John’ farm business is on the brink of bankruptcy even with the new revenue provided by the rail link.
Fortunately for Bert, odious political big wig Lord Kilmartin (Julian Sands) is in town and he offers Bert the chance to win five quid if he agrees to take the...

Okay, so we might not be wearing our gladrags and we might not be sipping champagne, but who says a onesie and a takeaway can't be glamorous?
It's BAFTA night, and while we're not at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane with all the best and brightest from the last year of television, at least we can join the party from our sofas. Yep, we'll be blogging along with the awards - which start at 8pm on BBC One - so grab your slippers and a cuppa and join in by tweeting @digitalspy and leaving your comments below...
And as a reminder, the awards actually start in "real life" at 7pm - but we'll be doggedly going along with the television broadcast and pretending we're not an hour behind everyone else, so there's no fear of spoilers. If you want things as they happen, we'll be updating our winners' list here.

Don't be fooled by the title. BBC's new drama series is many things, but "happy" probably isn't one of them...
Sally Wainwright cannot put a foot wrong. Her magnum opus, the critically acclaimed Last Tango In Halifax, was a master class in how TV’s depiction of our older generation doesn’t always need to result in ageist caricatures and Scott & Bailey is still going strong albeit sans Wainwright. With Last Tango In Halifax’s third series in the pipeline, it seems the writer fancied something else altogether. The result is Happy Valley, BBC One’s new Tuesday night drama, and it really is quite excellent.
Catherine Cawood (Last Tango in Halifax alumnus Sarah Lancashire) doesn’t have a great life. “I’m Catherine, by the way,” she says breezily, to a man planning to set fire to himself. “I’m 47, I’m divorced,...

The global arm of AMC Networks is readying plans to launch the Sundance Channel in the UK.
Screen’s sister publication Broadcast understands that AMC/Sundance Channel Global is in carriage negotiations with pay-tv platforms including Sky, with a view to launching in 2015.
The plans follow parent firm AMC Networks’ $1bn (£600m) acquisition of Chellomedia, which operates around 40 channels around the world, last year.
The company is home to major global programme brands such as Mad Men and The Walking Dead.
Its channels include AMC, which aired Breaking Bad in the Us, female-skewing WEtv and comedy network IFC. It has been keen to establish a presence in the UK for some time and a number of sources have told Broadcast that it has now selected the Sundance Channel as its first launch.

It was over a year ago that Paramount first declared its intent to “get back, with very little investment, into the television production business.” But it’s not enough just to announce to the world that you want to make TV and you don’t want to spend a lot of money doing so. Eventually, you actually have to make that TV. And to their credit, Paramount has finally announced just what shows constitute their minor TV footprint. The winners are: An adaptation of Caleb Carr’s novel, “The Alienist,” (which is about late-19th century police psychology, and not someone who’s racist against aliens, as the name might suggest). A “limited series” (like a mini-series, but more prestigious-sounding) based on a biography of Charles Lindberg. An Amerification of Peter Moffat’s BBC Series The Village Narc: The Show Ghost: The Show Terminator: The Show The Truman Show: The Show Par for the course as...

The Truman Show, Narc and Ghost are to be adapted for TV by Paramount.
The films - all original Paramount releases - will see TV series based on them go into development.
A new drama based on Caleb Carr novel The Alienist is in the works as well, alongside the previously announced TV adaptation of The Terminator.
The development slate is the company's first in TV since relaunching its startup division Paramount Television.

The Tractate Middoth
Once upon a time, ghost stories were an integral part of the BBC’s Christmas line-up. Mark Gatiss (Sherlock) is attempting to revive that tradition and he took his first steps in that direction with tonight’s broadcast of M R James’ The Tractate Middoth.
I love a good ghost story but M R James isn’t really my cup of tea. That being said, Mark Gatiss did well to turn this short story into a fairly entertaining half-hour of TV. It always helps when you have a good cast and for The Tractate Middoth, Gatiss signed up some big-hitters. The cast included Sacha Dhawan (Outsourced), Louise Jameson (Doc Martin), John Castle (I, Claudius), Eleanor Bron (Ab Fab) and David Ryall (The Village). The aforementioned A-listers all put in a good shift but the show was fun rather than scary. It wasn’t exactly Randall and Hopkirk...
