One would think the good people at Lionsgate might be trying to hide Greedy People by quietly announcing its release in theaters this month, just last week. The Lily James and Joseph Gordon-Levitt vehicle came out on August 23rd with very little fanfare. Not to mention, August (and January) are known as the dumping grounds for films studios are ashamed of.
However, I am relieved to set the record straight: Greedy People is a bloody good time. The film is full of quirky characters, ominous motivations, and moral ambiguity, exploring how ordinary people can be driven to acts of money lust and even murder—all while maintaining the core value of these types of films, where almost no one gets away clean.

Watertower Music has announced the release of “The Batman”, the compelling new theme from director Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham City’s vigilante detective and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne.
The theme was created by Academy-, Emmy- and Grammy Award winning composer Michael Giacchino and is the first music to be made available from Giacchino’s upcoming The Batman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).
Here’s what Matt Reeves said over on Twitter about Giacchino’s score. The filmmaker and composer previously worked on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, released on July 11, 2014 and the third film, War for the Planet of the Apes, released on July 14, 2017

DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes wrapped up with a 30-minute discussion with director Matt Reeves about The Batman, and it did not disappoint. Introduced by Robert Pattinson and moderated by DC FanDome host Aisha Tyler, the fast-talking Reeves covered quite a bit over the course of the panel, including giving fans a pretty clear idea of what sort of story they’re in for when The Batman debuts in October of next year.

As had been discussed before, The Batman is set during Bruce Wayne’s second year as a crimefighter, meaning it’s not an origin, but the Dark Knight is clearly still establishing himself and becoming the hero he’ll eventually become. As Reeves made clear, “He’s far from perfect.” While Batman is no longer a new presence in Gotham City when The Batman starts, he’s not having the affect on the...

The first trailer for The Batman has arrived and it does not disappoint! With Matt Reeves in the director's chair, I had no doubt we were getting something special, but I'm totally on board for this seemingly Batman: Zero Year-inspired take. The trailer gives us a good look at Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, as well as Jeffrey Wright as Jame Gordin, while giving us a glimpse of Paul Dano as The Riddler and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think:

We may only have several home entertainment releases for this Tuesday, but as the saying goes, “quality over quantity,” because this bunch of Blu-rays and DVDs are a stellar lot of films. One of my favorite horror films of 2017, Mark Duplass’ Creep 2, makes its way home on November 28th courtesy of The Orchard, and Scream Factory has given Rob Reiner’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery the Collector’s Edition treatment (and deservedly so).
For you cult film fans, both Death Laid an Egg and Deathdream (aka Dead of Night) get the HD treatment this week, and other notable releases this Tuesday include M.F.A., Rememory, Super Dark Times, Woodshock, and Trailer Trauma 4: Television Trauma.

There's still a Beetlejuice sequel in the offing - and it even has a new writer...
They just won't let Beetlejuice die. Warner Bros. has been trying to get Beetlejuice 2 off the ground almost since the original hit theaters, with the project going through any number of different iterations over the last nearly 30 years. Despite the fact that sequels this belated don't make the most sense under the very best of circumstances, let alone when one features characters who are dead and therefore shouldn't be aging anymore, there are still plans to get Beetlejuice 2 made with both Michael Keaton and Tim Burton.

I'm feeling a little, ooh, anxious if you know what I mean. It's been about six hundred years since we all heard rumors of there being a sequel to Tim Burton's classic 1988 horror comedy Beetlejuice starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin. Over the past few years, there's been a lot of talk about a sequel to Tim Burton's classic film Beetlejuice. It looked like it was actually really close to happening in 2016. In one day Tim Burton said that film was ready to start shooting and then a few hours later said it wasn't in development. We haven't really heard anything regarding the movie since, other than Michael Keaton saying, "it's possible that ship has sailed."
Now today it's being reported that Warner Bros. is putting Beetlejuice 2 back into development and they've hired Mike Vukadinovich (Rememory) to rewrite the script that was originally written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter).
Burton is currently working on Dumbo for Disney, so maybe Warner Bros. is looking to get Beetlejuice 2 into a place of development where Burton can jump on board and direct when he's done with Dumbo.

Mike Vukadinovich has been tasked with resurrecting Beetlejuice 2 from the brink of irrelevancy.
Deadline has the scoop, confirming that Vukadinovich has been drafted in to pen a new treatment for the long-in-development sequel. Neither Tim Burton nor Michael Keaton have signed on just yet, though Deadline is reporting that both director and star are interested in revisiting the genre oddity of ’88, possibly courting Winona Ryder back to the Netherworld in the process.
It’s worth pointing out that Burton and Keaton are currently working together on the live-action Dumbo that is poised to take flight at Disney, thereby joining a long list of reimagined fairytales that includes everything from Mulan to Jon Favreau’s star-studded rendition of The Lion King. For Beetlejuice 2, though, the project currently has Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions on board to produce, but beyond that, there’s not much to report at this early,...

Just in time for Halloween, Beetlejuice 2 has picked up some new life at Warner Bros.
Mike Vukadinovich is rewriting the horror comedy, a follow-up to the 1988 feature that starred Michel Keaton as a bespoke ghost that tries to drive a family from their new home. Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Winona Ryder also starred in the Tim Burton-directed feature.
The sequel has been in development for a long while, but no deals have been made yet with Burton or Keaton. Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are set to produce through their KatzSmith Productions.

Beetlejuice is a classic Tim Burton movie, but attempts to make Beetlejuice 2 never worked out.
When it was announced in the late 1980s that the then thirtysomething director Tim Burton had landed the job of bringing Batman to the big screen for Warner Bros., approval was far from unanimous. Burton was a gamble, although as 1989’s Batman would prove, a well-chosen bet.
Despite being a gamble, Burton had some pedigree. Just two movies into his career, he was already proving to be one of Hollywood’s most interesting mainstream directors. And the studio had, after all, seen early cuts of 1988’s Beetlejuice, Burton’s second film.
The fantasy comedy, starring Michael Keaton in the title role, actually came to Burton while he was already working on Batman (his first film, 1985’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, had proven a surprise hit). While the studio dithered over giving...

"No, please, don't do anything differently..." Kino Lorber has unveiled an official trailer for the romantic drama Porto, about two strangers who meet randomly for an evening of intimacy in the Portuguese city of Porto. The film stars the late Anton Yelchin in one of his final roles (along with the films Rememory and Thoroughbreds) as Jake, who meets the lovely Mati, played by Lucie Lucas. The cast also includes Paulo Calatré and Françoise Lebrun. This already premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival last year, and has played at numerous film festivals through 2016 and 2017, with a release in the Us this November. This actually reminds me a bit of Drake Doremus' intimate romance film Newness, which also had a trailer today. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Gabe Klinger's Porto, direct from YouTube: Jake (Yelchin) and Mati (Lucas) are two expats who experience a brief but intimate...

"Game of Thrones" has been really good for Peter Dinklage's career. The character actor had always been a standout but being on the biggest show on the planet has certainly elevated things just a little for his career.
Among all of the projects he has coming in the next while, one of the most interesting is definitely Rememory.
Written and directed by Mark Palansky (most notable for his charming modern fairytale Penelope), the movie stars Dinklage as an investigator who is hired by a widow, Julia Ormond, to investigate the murder of her husband, the man behind a new technology which allows individuals to re-live memories.
Along with Dinklage and Ormond, the movie also stars Henry Ian Cusick ("The 100") and features one of Anton Yelchin's final performances.

"The machine is incredible!" "Pure, unfiltered truth." Ready to remember all of your memories? Lionsgate has debuted the official trailer for an indie sci-fi film titled Rememory, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This is one of a few subtle indie sci-fi films that played at the festival, along with Marjorie Prime and The Discovery. The gimmick in this is a device that can extract, record and play a person's memories. The inventor is found dead, and his wife retreats into her home until a mysterious man shows up and begins investigating what exactly happened. Peter Dinklage stars, with Julia Ormond, Martin Donovan, Evelyne Brochu, Henry Ian Cusick, and the late Anton Yelchin. The film received pretty bad reviews out of Sundance, and while I am somewhat intrigued, this trailer doesn't really grab me. A great new trailer has been released for Peter Dinklage's upcoming film Rememory. It looks like a really good and thrilling sci-fi mystery! I'm a big fan of Dinklage and this looks like an awesome role for him. The movie also stars the late Anton Yelchin, along with Martin Donovan (Ant-Man, Insomnia), Julia Ormond (Mad Men, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), and Henry Ian Cusick (Lost, The 100).
I didn't get a chance to see this movie when it premiered at Sundance earlier this year, but I heard good things about it. I'll definitely be checking it out when it's released! It looks like the kind of movie that I'd enjoy.
The film explores the ways in which our past defines the present. In Rememory, a visionary scientific pioneer (Donovan) is found dead shortly after unveiling his newest invention: a device able to extract, record and play a person’s memories.

The first project to go is an adaptation of Mark Vonnegut’s The Eden Express: A Memoir Of Insanity. Set in the 1970s, the book chronicles Vonnegut’s experiences on a commune as he begins to struggle with bipolar disorder, receives help from his famous father and author Kurt Vonnegut, and goes on to establish a paediatric practice in the Boston area.

It’s hard to imagine it’s been a year since we lost Anton Yelchin, who passed away June 19, 2016 at age 27 after a freak car accident. Because Yelchin continued to be a memorable face on the big screen over the past year in “Star Trek Beyond” and in festival entries like “Porto” and “Thoroughbred,” his death still hits like a shock to the system. He still feels very much like an active member of the film community, a feeling that will probably remain as he has more posthumous films waiting to be released.

Rememory was one of the films I was most excited to see at Sundance. The brief description I read really stood out to me, and I’m a huge fan of Peter Dinklage. Combined with the fact that this was one of Anton Yelchin’s final films, I was anxious to see it. I think my hopes were too high because I’ll admit I was a little disappointed.
Rememory tells the story of Sam (Dinklage), a lonely model-maker with a regrettable past. He takes it upon himself to solve the mysterious death of Gordon Dunn, who invented a machine that allows people to objectively view their own memories as a form of therapy. This new technology, while highly sought-after, has unforeseen flaws. Sam has to track down and eliminate potential suspects one by one, using their memories to look for clues. In the new film “Rememory,” “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage plays a character who is “haunted by his past,” co-star Julia Ormond told TheWrap’s Matt Donnelly at the Sundance Film Festival. “He wants to try to find resolution through using an invention which is a machine that takes you back into accurate memory.” “He has a very painful memory from his recent past that he wants to unravel,” Dinklage said of his character. But to depict this memory-trapping invention, writer-director Mark Palansky teamed with Dinklage for a crowd-sourcing project to solicit the memories of real-life people to include in the.
