The gaming industry is no stranger to ambitious projects being scaled back or completely reimagined during development. For Treyarch, the studio behind Call of Duty‘s Black Ops series, this story isn’t just about changed plans – it’s about broken promises and the human cost of development upheavals.
What started as an innovative vision for Black Ops 3 would eventually spiral into a pattern that would test the resilience of the development team.

Years later, this pattern would resurface in a way that left many veterans of the studio feeling an uncomfortable sense of déjà vu, leading to one of the most challenging periods in Treyarch’s history.

The modern iterations of the Call of Duty franchise have often revisited fan-favorite maps from previous years to be remastered, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is no exception. 2023's Modern Warfare 3 featured 16 maps that were enhanced from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, for example. One particular map which has been remade, reimagined, and revisited in every one of the Black Ops subseries' releases since 2010 will make its return in Black Ops 6: Nuketown.
The original Nuketown is set in a 1950s nuclear test site in Nevada, designed to discover the effects of atomic weaponry on residential suburb areas. At the end of each multiplayer game, a nuke will actually drop on the town. As the map is quite small, its intense and action-packed gameplay has made many a multiplayer memory over the years, both in its original format and in its 13 recreations (which includes the versions in Zombies and Blackout). However,...

John Speredakos is no stranger to the world of indie horror. With a career that spans over two decades, the New York City-born actor has delivered unforgettable performances in films like Wendigo (2001), Blackout (2023), and now Crumb Catcher (2023), the darkly comedic thriller that premiered at Grimmfest 2024. Directed by Chris Skotchdopole, Crumb Catcher tells the unsettling story of a newlywed couple held hostage by a maniacally optimistic inventor, played by Speredakos, and his sour wife. The film explores themes of class, delusion, and desperation, all wrapped in a pitch-black comedic tone that keeps the audience guessing.
Will Knowles sat down with John at Grimmfest, where he opened up about the joy of playing such a twisted character, his love for improvisation, and what’s coming next in his burgeoning horror career.

Method Man’s star power was evident from the moment listeners heard him on Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), especially the album’s lone solo single, which carried his name. During our recent Zoom call, he tells me in his gravelly baritone that he’s still likely to listen to that project before the rest of his catalog. But it was only the beginning of a legendary career that continues well into his fifties. Albums like 1994’s Tical and 1999’s Blackout (with close friend Redman), as well as New York rap...

Blackout wanted to be a comedy thriller, but it totally missed the mark. Most of the characters felt unnecessary, and the story itself was just pointless. Every character’s motive and their journey’s end seemed random and out of the blue. The story follows a guy named Lenny (played by Vikrant Massey). On a blackout day with no power, he leaves his house and gets hit by a car, which turns out to be full of thieves. But Lenny thinks he has hit the jackpot! Why? Because even though the car is now full of dead bodies, it’s loaded with money and jewels. But his luck doesn’t last long because his night turns into a nightmare thanks to the people he meets along the way. What happens to Lenny? Let’s dive into the movie Blackout by Devang Bhavsar, now streaming on Jio Cinema, to find out.

“Blackout,” starring Vikrant Massey, is a thriller that strives to keep viewers on the edge of their seats but falls short in several key areas. Set against a backdrop of political intrigue and personal vendettas, the film attempts to weave a complex narrative but ends up entangling itself in a web of clichés and predictability.
Vikrant Massey stands out with his performance, showcasing a range of emotions that highlight his versatility as an actor. He brings depth and nuance to his character, making him the most compelling part of the movie. Massey’s ability to convey vulnerability and strength in equal measure is impressive and keeps the audience engaged, even when the plot falters.
The film’s premise is intriguing, with the potential for a gripping story. However, the execution leaves much to be desired. The screenplay lacks the tightness and coherence necessary for a thriller of this nature. Pacing issues plague the narrative,...

The summer season might not be very catchy and welcoming for the theaters, but Ott is making full use and digging this opportunity of a theaterless month. Remember those games that keep you on your toes till the end, this trailer is a glimpse of one such film. Well, what would a man as serious as 12th Fail‘s Vikrant Massey and as comic as Sunil Grover would do when they come together in a swap situation?!
Of course, they promise a riot, and the Blackout trailer hints at that riot with Massey attempting a very dark comedy supported brilliantly by Sunil Grover,...

Blackout.I had saved my question about Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) until the last possible minute. Larry Fessenden, a disarmingly amiable man with an edge to his self-deprecating humor I recognized only too well, has a new werewolf movie out. If you know Larry’s movies—No Telling (1991), Habit (1995), Wendigo (2001), The Last Winter (2006), Beneath (2013), Depraved (2019), and now Blackout (2023)—you know it’s never just a matter of a monster. As we dug into its story of a lycanthropic curse doubling as a metaphor for an artist’s alcoholism and a town’s despair at a recent solar eclipse, I could see Larry the filmmaker turn into Larry the eager, devoted student and fan under the half-light of the black sun.Fessenden appears in the final minutes of Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon (2023), like a harbinger of the future’s unforgiving gaze, as an actor on the mid-century...

It’s been three years since Cary Fukunaga’s most recent film, the 007 feature, “No Time to Die.” Since then, it’s been a bit rough for the filmmaker. He was at the center of sexual misconduct allegations from women in Hollywood. While no legal action was taken, it did mean that when “Masters of the Air” was released, the Apple TV+ war series he directed some episodes of, Fukunaga was not part of the marketing.

No Time To Die’s Cary Joji Fukunaga is to direct 77 Blackout, with Mahershala Ali and Tom Hardy set to star.
The Cannes FIlm Festival launches this week, which means there are plenty of new projects popping up as they head to the event in search of buyers.
One such film is 77 Blackout, a heist thriller that boasts the twin talents of Mahershala Ali and Tom Hardy. Cary Joji Fukunaga, the director of No Time To Die – and the mind behind the acclaimed first season of True Detective – will helm the film.
Add in a 1970s period setting and a fun twist on the heist formula and this one really might be something special. So what is the twist? Multiple heists from multiple criminal organisations, all in one night.
Here’s the synopsis, via Deadline:
‘Set in 1977, five rogue police officers formulate a plan to rob three criminal strongholds – the Hong Kong Triads,...

A few months back, rumors circulated about Marvel Studios working on the ‘Midnight Sons’ project, with indications that the forthcoming ‘Blade’ reboot might connect to it.
The project reportedly features characters distinct from those in The Avengers lineup, with suggestions that Doctor Strange might not join the team.
Following a string of disappointing projects, Marvel Studios has adjusted its focus somewhat. A couple of months ago, there was talk that Marvel Studios was developing the ‘Midnight Sons’ project and that the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot is supposed to tie into that project.
Midnight Sons would include characters that never appeared in The Avengers, and Doctor Strange allegedly would not be a part of the team.
Since then, Marvel Studios has experienced a series of bad projects, so they kind of shifted their goals a bit. Brad Winderbaum himself admitted that not all developed projects will ultimately go into production and be released, and we kind of just assumed that was the fate of ‘Midnight Sons.’
Now according to MyTimeToShineHello, the project is still on and the studio is eyeing Fede Álvarez to direct the movie.

Louis Ferrigno Jr. shines as Tommy Kinard on 9-1-1, a former firefighter turned pilot with a complex storyline. Tommy's return in season 7 brings a focus on his relationship with Buck, offering a compelling storyline for fans.
Louis Ferrigno Jr. has a recurring role on 9-1-1 and he plays a very intriguing character. 9-1-1 is a 2018 Ryan Murphy show about the emergency service first responders who work in LA. The police officers, paramedics, firefighters, and dispatchers are all featured in equal measure, and the series stars several outstanding actors like Angela Basset, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Aisha Hinds, and Kenneth Choi. Despite some of the over-the-top emergencies in 9-1-1, the relationships between the characters feel grounded and are the reason the show has lasted seven seasons.

Update: After “Homeland’s” David Harewood told The Guardian that actors should be able to “Black up” for roles, but warned “it’d better be fucking good,” the actor clarified in a statement to Variety, “I don’t support or condone Blackface. My own documentary on the subject can be found on the BBC website. It is a grotesque distortion of race and should always be condemned.”
Previously: Speaking to The Guardian, Harewood, who also serves as president of prestigious British drama school the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, said: “We’re at this strange point in the profession where people go: ‘Oh, you can’t play that role because you’re not disabled, or you can’t play that because you’re not really from there.’ The name of the game is acting.”
He added, “Yes, we’ve got to be representative, but I do think we have to be careful.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War is right now on a roll. Treyarch, the subsidiary developing company of Activision Blizzard, is working on this project, leaving the remaining Modern Warfare Zombie works to Sledgehammer Games. Despite the lack of a solid release date, fans are hearing a flurry of rumors every day.
There are many speculations about Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War regarding its movement mechanics, weapon slots, and many more. But the hottest topic right now is: is it going to feature a Battle Royale mode, just like Warzone?

It’s been great to see the classic monsters returning in modern tales. From more Hollywood takes like Leigh Whannel’s The Invisible Man to the more indie darlings like The Angry Black Girl And Her Monster, the monsters have never been more relevant. And Larry Fessenden is no stranger to the world of monsters, having previously created his own iteration of Frankenstein’s Monster with Depraved as well as his own Wendigo film, aptly titled Wendigo. Now he’s taking on werewolf lore with his new film Blackout.
I was lucky enough to sit down with both Larry and the star of Blackout, Alex Hurt, to discuss the film. From the clear Lon Chaney influence to using alcoholism as a parallel for his transformation, this stands out from other modern werewolf tales. I was also fortunate enough to talk to Alex about the passing of his father, William, who...

‘Blackout’ Review – Larry Fessenden’s Werewolf Tale Offers a Slice-of-Life Movie With a Horror Twist
In 2019, indie horror filmmaker Larry Fessenden reimagined Frankenstein with a contemporary lens in Depraved. His follow-up, Blackout, takes his exploration of classic movie monsters further with a unique take on the Wolf Man. Alcoholism and lycanthropy afflict an artist in Blackout, the title’s dual meaning apparent, but Fessenden takes it a step further by exploring the volatile nature of a community and the catastrophic yet absurdly funny toll a monster’s destruction wreaks on a small town.
Talbot Falls artist Charley (Alex Hurt) is at a significant crossroads. His binge drinking has made a mess of his life and relationships, including former love Sharon (Addison Timlin) and her ruthlessly power-crazed dad Hammond (Marshall Bell). His drinking has left him prone to blackouts, complicating matters when he begins to suspect he may be the werewolf savagely ripping people apart during the Full Moon. Never mind that he has deep-seated father...

Larry Fessenden is back with new werewolf horror movie Blackout, which is Now Available on Digital/VOD at home courtesy of Dark Sky Films.
Blackout is the third film in Fessenden’s monster trilogy, following Habit (vampires) and Depraved (Frankenstein). Watch a clip below for a sneak peek at his latest monster!
The film follows small town artist Charley (Alex Hurt), a tortured man whose drinking binges blur with his sneaking suspicion that he might likely be a werewolf. He distances himself from those he loves and sinks deeper into solitude, his flashes of memory of his nighttime grisly acts manifested through his artwork.
Fessenden tells us, “I am interested in finding new truths in the classic monster tropes of my youth. The essence of each creature dictates the milieu of the film, and of course, the werewolf is both out of control and regretful so that duality shaped my story.

Want to grow fur, fangs and howl at the moon? Well, in Byte, the new film from writer/director Eddie Lengyel there’s an app for that.
Jett, April, Nora (Carlie Allen) and Damon are hanging out on Halloween when Jett gets a bright idea. He downloads an app that claims, if you buy werewolf blood from them and perform the proper ritual, you can become a werewolf. It’s Halloween and there’s a full moon, so why not? Nobody seems surprised when the blood shows up almost immediately after he orders it, as if delivered by some lycanthropic DoorDash.
They’re also not surprised when the ritual seems to have no effect. But later that night, a woman walking home is torn apart by something large and hairy,...

Worthy subject matter, themes & strong performances are marred by an overstuffed, tedious plot. Interesting experimental flourishes can't overcome the jarring shifts between political drama & werewolf horror. An ambitious narrative tackles addiction, corruption, atonement, and prejudice with varying success.
Larry Fessenden's Blackout is a frustrating bouillabaisse of two completely different movies that happen to be playing at the same time. One is a tale of small-town political corruption, racial injustice, and environmental activism that puts the "slow" in slow burn. The other is a Hammer horror redux starring a werewolf with a penchant for neck-slicing. Sadly, neither works.
3/10
When the sun goes down Charley has convulsions while driving his car, goes off the road and ends up in a ditch. Charley, it seems, is a werewolf. He attacks his rescuers and moves through the outskirts of town at night wreaking havoc. But the next day he cant remember the things hes done.

With his latest film, Blackout (not to be confused with The Blackout), Larry Fessenden finally gets around to tackling the werewolf mythos. He’s dealt with vampires in Habit, Frankenstein and his creation in Depraved, and even the Wendigo in the film of the same name. Now he ventures to Talbot Falls, I wonder where he got that name from, for a tale of lycanthropy, small town corruption and what it means to be human.
Blackout begins traditionally enough for a horror film with a couple having sex outdoors, running afoul of a large, hairy creature before introducing us to Charley. He’s an artist with a drinking problem, or at least that’s what he tells people is the cause of his monthly blackouts. Of course, he,...

Clone commanders played a crucial role in battles, with some standing out for their tactical and combat abilities. Despite their genetics, each clone commander had a different personality and a uniquely tragic fate. The 15 best clone commanders in the Clone Wars were ranked based on their coolness, importance, and strength in battle.
The clone army was one of the most fearsome fighting forces the galaxy had ever seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and part of their effectiveness came from clone commanders. Even though there were several voice actors in The Clone Wars' cast, only one person voiced every clone: Dee Bradley Baker. Almost all clones, except for Clone Force 99, were genetically identical to each other, but they all had distinctive personalities, and Baker's voice helped distinguish them. The personalities he imbued in the clones also helped explain why some clones disobeyed Order 66 despite their behavioral chips.

A cosmic Nova project in the MCU could introduce a unique villain, like Blackout, who can manipulate Darkforce energy for epic battles. Corruptor could highlight the flaws within the Nova Corps, exploring darker implications and creating a complex issue for Nova to solve. Meeting the powerful immortal Sphinx could lead Nova to the Nova Corps, giving the MCU a surprise villain to challenge the hero's origin.
Marvel recently confirmed that they are in the early stages of development for a Nova project in the MCU, and like most MCU projects, it is likely going to need a villain. Choosing a villain for the MCU’s Nova has two clear paths that Marvel can take, and it depends heavily on how they decide to introduce the character. Special “Black Out” performances of Jeremy O. Harris’ stage production Slave Play were well-received by the Broadway community in 2019 when producers of the controversial, acclaimed and emotionally complex play about race relations announced that they would set aside a relatively few performances to invite all-Black audiences, an effort to welcome a group traditionally marginalized or even excluded by Broadway.
The Black Out Nights promotion was intended to both expose Broadway theater to a community that may not have been in the habit of attending, and to allow Black audiences to experience, as a community, the thorny-issued satire.
But when a similar plan was announced for the upcoming West End production – starring, among others, Kit Harington – the promotion met with resistance from some quarters, most notably from the UK Prime Minister himself.
In a recent BBC report, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s official spokesman said the Pm had read media reports about the plan,...

Yellow Veil Pictures announced it has boarded world sales on Larry Fessenden’s upcoming horror film “Blackout,” and also released the film’s first teaser poster. The film, which is currently in post-production, will begin the festival circuit later in 2023 after finishing its photography in Hudson Valley, New York this past fall.
“Blackout” depicts a painter who, convinced he is a werewolf, creates chaos in a small town at each full moon.
The horror film joins Fessenden’s own “monsterverse,” with the New York-based actor and filmmaker’s vampire-themed breakout feature “Habit” (1995) and Frankenstein-inspired “Depraved” (2019).
“Blackout” is the second partnership between Yellow Veil Pictures, a New York City and Los Angeles-based film sales and distribution company, and Glass Eye Pix, an American independent film studio Fessenden founded where he serves as CEO. The two joined forces on world sales for “Depraved,” which was released by IFC Midnight in the United States.
