In an increasingly polarized, complex and scary world, animated films are one of our last havens of pure communal joy. Divisions between red and blue, left and right, wokes and deplorables fall away when we collectively gather in a movie theater to hear stories of inner emotions transformed into quippy cartoons, to watch the adventures of elemental gods and sentient robots (or sentient garden gnomes), to ponder the marvels of real-world creativity through the medium of children’s building blocks.
THR invited the directors of some of the biggest and buzziest animated films in this year’s awards season — Josh Cooley, director of Paramount’s Transformers One; Kelsey Mann, the helmer behind Pixar’s Inside Out 2, the highest-grossing animated film of all time; Dana Ledoux Miller, one of the directors of Disney’s Moana 2 (along with David Derrick and Jason Hand); Morgan Neville, who helmed Piece by Piece,...

Yellowstone fans took a moment to pause, and not in a good way, when a glaring plot hole involving Beth and Jamie slapped them in the face. The once-invincible reputation of Taylor Sheridan seemed to wobble, leaving fans murmuring—Is this Vince Gilligan level? Not quite. While Sheridan’s storytelling usually packs a punch, this hiccup had fans questioning the logic behind certain character arcs.

Beth and Jamie’s tangled history became the talk of the fandom, but not for the right reasons. Instead, viewers pointed fingers at inconsistent plotting, and suddenly Yellowstone’s golden shine felt just a little tarnished.

Yikes. Is it really that bad behind closed doors? That’s what a lot of people just can’t help but wonder as there’s a new report that brings to light Meghan Markle’s supposed problem with her ‘hysterical’ anger. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Meghan Markle Has A Problem With Her ‘Hysterical’ Anger
Apparently, the Duchess of Sussex has been like this way this entire time, but her behavior is only being reported about it now.
Royal author Tom Bower says that there was a particular incident soon after Meghan Markle found out that her 2017 magazine with Vanity Fair didn’t come out as she had initially expected.
The Duchess of Sussex supposedly had gone hysterical after the royal family’s strict guidelines were breached. In the article, Meghan had discussed their relationship.

“Be careful making heroes out of monsters,” was Found’s quote of the hour.
Gabi extolled those wise words toward the media, feasting and salivating at the chance for clickbait about Sir on Found Season 2 Episode 7.
I’d say the reverse is true within this hour and series: “Be careful making monsters out of heroes.” People are inherently flawed, and it’s easy to lose sight of that when emotions get in the way.
(Matt Miller/NBC)
The case was a prime example of a controversial figure like Rash disappearing.
If not for their roommate, frenemy, or whatever you’d refer to them as, no one would have realized that Rash went missing, and most wouldn’t have cared.
And we’d never know for sure if Rash would’ve survived the ordeal if their kidnapper would’ve released them as they said, or if Rash would be another queer...

Despite being stuffed to the antlers with holiday trappings, Frasier Season 2 Episode 10 was a surprisingly sober finale that ultimately displayed more Christmas than cheer.
The episode wrapped up most of the subplots introduced this season and featured a steady stream of laugh-out-loud zingers from Frasier as he navigated a holiday-themed meddling scheme.
Did the season finale go bigger on pathos than party favors? Perhaps. But I think it was necessary to dispense with a couple of larger storylines so that those characters and the show itself could move forward for a potential third season.
(Chris Haston/Paramount+)
I liked a lot of what this episode accomplished, even if I may have wished for less of an elegiac mood.
It was deceptively intricate on the story side, which was great, but it still clung to some aspects of the show (David!) that haven’t worked too well this season.

What’s the quintessential Chicago Pd motto?
Tell Voight the truth so he can lie for you.
It’s as simple as that, yet here we are 12 years later, and we see during Chicago Pd Season 12 Episode 7 that it still isn’t clicking for the characters.

In Dante’s defense, he’s relatively new to the equation, and while he adjusts remarkably well, he still keeps things close to the vest.

Reese Witherspoon has starred in a variety of movies ranging from Walk the Line to Legally Blonde. But perhaps no other film pushed her like 2014’s Wild did. In hindsight, nothing could’ve prepared the actor for what she was really getting into when she signed up for the flick.

Wild was based on a true story about a woman who hikes across one of the country’s longest trails after a disastrous life event. Witherspoon starred as Cheryl Strayed in the movie, and also served as a producer for the film.

We’re celebrating TV’s imperfect females. These women are often unapologetic and unfiltered about their passionate beliefs.
They break boundaries, challenge authority, and take new risks as they conquer their dreams. Sometimes they succeed, and sometimes they fail.
These women are often driven by a mutual desire — love — and they’ll run towards that unapologetically every time. They will defend their choices, whether protecting their child, running towards a new romance, or defending their title.
(Lewis Jacobs/Fox)
These women are entertaining to watch because they are outspoken and passionate about their cases. They light up the screen with both their confidence and their vulnerability.
These imperfect females are the entire package.
Thony De La Rosa (The Cleaning Lady) (Jeff Neumann/Fox)
Thony De La Rosa is the epitome of an unapologetic, imperfect woman. She would do whatever it took to save her young son, Luca, including committing many crimes.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Monday, November 4 episode of Jeopardy!] Jeopardy! fans were in for a big dose of personality from a contestant on Monday, November 4’s episode. Although he made a splash, he came up short against reigning champ Greg Jolin, who seems only to be picking up steam. Jolin, a system specialist and accountant from Raymond, New Hampshire, entered with a two-day total of $50,002. On a solo tour last year, Nick Cave suddenly became self-aware. He built his career performing with bands — the Birthday Party, Grinderman, the Bad Seeds — but here he was with only a piano and Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood supporting him. As they worked their way through nearly two dozen songs every night, Cave started thinking deeply about his songwriting.
“When I was singing these songs alone at the piano with just the bass — old songs, new songs, over 45 years of songwriting — they spoke their original intent,” he says, thoughtfully choosing his words on a call.

Will Smith became an A-lister in the ‘90s when he continuously gave hits such as Bad Boys, Independence Day, and Men in Black. The latter was a huge commercial success, and Smith was established as a bankable Hollywood superstar, despite all three films having a co-lead actor.
Smith then made the Wester-sci-fi comedy Wild Wild West with his Men in Black director Barry Sonnenfeld. Though it has a cult following now, the film was a box-office disaster upon release. It was one of the most expensive films ever made. Sonnenfeld reflected in his book why it did not work, and the reason was reportedly Kevin Kline.

George Clooney dodged a bullet by bailing on a role in one of the worst movies in Will Smith’s career. Clooney was initially cast as Artemus Gordon, one of the two protagonists, in Barry Sonnenfeld’s Wild Wild West. While the movie turned out to be bad, Clooney had essentially walked out of a film from the director of hits films like The Addams Family, Get Shorty, and Men in Black.

However, Sonnenfeld’s reputation wasn’t enough to save the film as the script had several issues and Clooney didn’t like the rewrites of the script. Once the Batman & Robin star bailed from the movie, he went on to join director David O. Russell’s Three Kings. While it was a critically acclaimed film, Clooney’s experience with the director was horrible.

Hulu’s adaptation of Little Fires Everywhere premiered at the very beginning of the 2020 Covid lockdown, and although it was nominated for several big Emmys that fall, the miniseries has become very fuzzy in my memory. One thing I do remember, however, is that in selecting the daughters of Reese Witherspoon’s character, the casting team found a pair of young actresses — Jade Pettyjohn and Megan Stott — who absolutely bore an uncanny resemblance to Reese Witherspoon.
Actually, I’d forgotten even that detail before sitting down to watch the new Netflix drama Penelope and immediately recognizing Stott — in large part because, if you’re going to make what is essentially an eight-part YA version of Wild, selecting a certifiable Reese Witherspoon doppelgänger as your lead makes a lot of sense.
Presumably, it isn’t wholly a coincidence. Penelope was created by Mark Duplass, who co-stars with Witherspoon on The Morning Show,...

I'm not the biggest fan of the "Deadpool" movies. They're less the advertised superhero parodies and more straight-up action-comedy superhero films, fourth-wall-breaking or not. They have their moments where they don't just play the genre beats, though, and the climax of the first "Deadpool" movie has two such moments.
One is when Wade (Ryan Reynolds) executes his nemesis Ajax (Ed Skrein), disregarding Colossus' (Stefan Kapičić) speech about the rare moments one gets to be a hero. Before that is a classic explosive fight of good vs. evil, complete with a damsel in distress hanging in the balance. The fight isn't as explosive as it could've been though, since Deadpool forgets his duffle bag full of guns in the taxi that he, Colossus, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) took to the showdown.
As the trio make their slow-motion, "Wild Bunch" style march to battle scored to Dmx's "X Gon' Give It To Ya,...

From Sept. 25 to Oct. 2, the 20th edition of Mexico’s Monterrey Film Festival will screen nearly 100 films, culled from world-class festivals, including Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca and SXSW. The festival will stage Mexican, Latin American and world premieres of fiction and documentary features, many by first-time film directors. Below are 10 outstanding titles:
“The Blue Star,” Javier Macipe, Spain, Argentina (Mexican premiere)
An Ibero-American co-production between Fernando Bovaira’s Mod Producciones of Spain (“Biutiful”), Macipe’s El Pez Amarillo, Cimarrón (“Society of the Snow”) and Prisma, Argentina, the 90s-set film centers on Mauricio, a famous Spanish rock musician who decides to travel across Latin America in a bid to reconnect with his roots. He meets Don Carlos, an aging musician who’s struggling despite having composed some of his country’s most famous folk songs. Carlos, like a musical Master Miyagi, takes in the visitor, and together they form a quirky, Quixote-like duo destined for commercial failure.
