Exclusive: Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner, whose Hazy Mills reimagined the Brothers Grimm tales as the brooding, dark supernatural cop drama Grimm, are looking to bring the literary classics by another famous writer, William Shakespeare, to television as a drama series set in present day America.

Audiences know and love Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez as Jane in “Jane the Virgin,” but did you know we nearly met her as another character entirely? In the audition tape below, Rodriguez is auditioning for the role of Jenn in the short-lived 2013 ABC sitcom, “How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life).” While the role ultimately went to actor Stephanie Hunt (“Friday Night Lights”) in the Brad Garrett-led series, Rodriguez clearly has a special spark in the two audition tapes below. Read: “Gina Rodriguez Found Her Dream Role on ‘Jane The Virgin’ ” While the videos are not the best quality (catch some great self-taping tips here!), the young star makes it work with her charisma, which practically leaps off the screen. Should we feel bad for Eddie Huang? The restaurateur whose memoir about his childhood inspired the current ABC sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat" went on a multi-post Twitter rant after this week's episode, complaining that, since the pilot, the show has drifted far from the reality of his own experience, to the point where "it got so far from the truth that I don't recognize my own life."
That's certainly unfortunate, even for a guy who received a tidy sum for the TV rights to his autobiography. No one wants to see his or her experience distorted and broadcast to millions. Then again, what did he expect? It's a network sitcom. It's generally going to avoid any bleak reality that can't be resolved in 22 minutes.

Big remains one of our favourite Tom Hanks childhood movies (perhaps losing out to Turner and Hooch, boy did that make us blub, we barely held it together) so we're slightly unnerved by reports that a TV series based on the film has been commissioned.
Kevin Biegel and Mike Royce are now said to have received a script plus penalty commitment from broadcaster Fox for the half-hour comedy series, which will explore what it means to be both an adult and child in today's world.
The 1988 Oscar-nominated movie, written by Gary Ross and Anne Spielberg, sees a boy's simple wish to be big come true as a 13-year-old is transformed into a 30-year-old overnight.
We take a nostalgic look at the cast of the huge hit - including Tom Hanks and John Heard - and what came next below:

Is Shonda Rhimes’ latest show Twitter unfriendly?
Critics at the Television Critics Association press tour questioned the wisdom of ABC’s writer-producer mogul naming her new Thursday night drama How to Get Away with Murder. Dear Paul Lee, Titles are tough. I don't have a magic answer for what titles are good and what titles are bad. I have, however, gotten a handy rule of thumb in recent years: If the ABC Comedy Development Department thinks a title is good, it probably isn't. What network, you'd be smart to ask, is actually good at making sure that its shows have good titles? I can't tell you. More shows on TV have awful titles than have good titles. It's just a thing. But I know that ABC keeps screwing over perfectly good shows with perfectly dreadful titles and I don't think I'm going to get many protests on this one. ABC just can't help itself. There are easy to pinpoint bad titles that ABC has thought were really clever. "How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)"? Nope. Awful title. Maybe that's...

In the age of DVRs, On Demand, Hulu and other options for Diy TV scheduling, timeslots matter less than they used to, but they still matter. Enough people still watch TV passively, leaving the same channel on after their favorite, that a show no one cares about like "The Millers" can be renewed entirely because it's paired with a monster like "The Big Bang Theory," while it's miraculous to see a new show succeed (or even survive) without a good lead-in. That's why it was so maddening to watch ABC's scheduling decisions this season, and the way they have apparently led to the cancellations of both the very good "Trophy Wife" and the awful "Mixology." (ABC isn't confirming anything yet, but actors from both shows tweeted about the cancellations last night.) In the five seasons ABC has been lucky enough to have "Modern Family" as one of its hits, the...

After so many duds this season, you start to root for a new ABC show to open. Upcoming drama Resurrection now remains the network’s last and only hope after back-to-back disappointments from the launches of drama Mind Games and comedy Mixology this week. Last night’s debut of Mixology (1.8 in adults 18-49) ranked as ABC’s lowest-rated comedy premiere this season and the third lowest overall for a Monday-Thursday comedy, only behind NBC’s now defunct Welcome To The Family (1.1) and Sean Saves The World (1.4). And that’s with one of the best comedy lead-ins on television, Modern Family, marking the lowest-rated debut following ABC’s flagship comedy. Yes, Modern Family is not the ratings powerhouse it used to be, with last night’s episode (3.1) down 11% from the last original to a season low but still, Mixology‘s premiere rating was down a big 38% from the short-lived How To Live With Your Parents...

From The Millers to the late How to Live with Your Parents (for the Rest of Your Life), sitcom protagonists sure move back in with their moms a lot. CBS’ Big Brother on Wednesday opened its door to 6.3 million total viewers, while scoring a 2.1 rating — numbers good enough to top and tie MasterChef in the 8 o’clock hour, yet off 12 and 19 percent from a year ago to match its circa-2008 low for a premiere.
BB15 was also down from the 14th edition’s finale, which did 7.4 mil/2.5.

NBC aired Game 4 of NHL Stanley Cup Final last night, the second game from the championship series to air on the network following the opener. Chicago’s thrilling 6-5 overtime victory over Boston posted a 4.6 household rating. That was up 109% from Game 2 of last year’s Los Angeles-New Jersey Stanley Cup Final, which was the second game of the series to air on NBC. Against last year’s Game 4, which aired on NBC cable sibling Versus (now NBC Sports Network), this year’s ratings were expectedly sharply up, by 171%. NBC is projected to win the night in adults 18-49. Elsewhere, in cooking competition world, Fox’s two-hour MasterChef (2.1/7) was down 13% from last week but still ranked as the top entertainment program of the night. After a slow start, CBS‘ American Baking Competition has yet to post a drop, logging a 1.2/4 in 18-49, even with last week, and its largest total...
