The days of Reno 911! on Comedy Central may feel like a thing of the past, but we may not need a time machine to visit Dangle, Wiegel, Garcia, Jones, Johnson, Williams, and Junior. When Reno 911! first went off the air in 2009, that seemed to lock up the mockumentary spoof. But it bounced back with support from everybody from Quibi to Paramount+, who invested in it through new episodes and even more movies. Nearly three years removed from the force’s final shift, there might be hope for more of Reno’s finest.
Speaking with MovieWeb, Thomas Lennon – who played short-short-sporting Lieutenant Dangle (pun most definitely intended) – said that he expects even more Reno 911! in the future, joking, “I can’t imagine we wouldn’t do more Reno 911! because we already have all the outfits, which is basically the hardest part. You can tell that we don...

If you’ve ever been around a runner or went to high school pretty much anywhere, you’ve probably seen the cross country shirts with the message, “Your team’s punishment is our team’s sport.” It’s not untrue that runners are usually not shy to talk about running, whether they’re asking you to make a donation in support of them running a marathon or trying to get you to come on a run with them in a snow storm because the texture is just better that way.
Yet, aside from films like 2007’s “Run Fatboy Run” starring David Schwimmer, there are no comedies that punch up at runners the way “Caddyshack” did for golfers or “Slap Shot” did for hockey players. So, when producers Brian Hunt of Believe Entertainment Group and Marc Lieberman from Above Average teamed up to make an ensemble comedy with a very specific kind of audience,...

Best TV Movie
Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas (NBC)
Earlier critic-proof Dolly Christmas specials were nominated in 2017, 2020 and 2021 (2021’s won). Given her popularity (there’s a reason her name is in the title), this one, shot at Dollywood with Willie Nelson among the guests, should wind up with a nom, too.
Prey (Hulu)
The fifth installment of the Predator franchise, a $65 million prequel, debuted at Comic-Con, registered at 93 percent on Rt and attracted more views in its first three days than any other Hulu offering ever en route to best TV movie Critics Choice and Producers Guild noms.
Reno 911!: It’s a Wonderful Heist (Comedy Central)
The same gang from the series that ended in 2009 is hoping their third spinoff film will be their second to land a nom (after 2022’s Reno 911!: The Hunt for QAnon). It’s a Christmastime parody of It’s a Wonderful Life, with Lt.

The holidays are sizzlin’ in “Reno 911!: It’s a Wonderful Heist,” a Christmas-themed sequel to the Emmy-nominated “The Hunt for QAnon.” Can the Reno Sheriff’s Department score another bid for Best TV Movie?
Jim Dangle (Thomas Lennon) is bemoaning his rotten luck – and Matt Damon’s Crypto.com ad – when Terry (Nick Swardson) arrives in the form of an angel to show the downtrodden lieutenant what Reno would look like had he never donned his iconic hotpants to patrol its streets. After delivering on the reference to Frank Capra’s 1946 classic, “It’s a Wonderful Heist” “unloads the funniest, weirdest gags that [Kerri Kenney-Silver] and Lennon can devise without resorting to cheap gimmicks, like character development or narrative tension,” writes Matt Schimkowitz (The A.V. Club).
