- A couple trapped in a cinema are manipulated into becoming unwilling actors in a film being captured by CCTV cameras.
- At the start of the movie, there is little or no sound telling the viewer what is happening, but there seems to be a party with young people, and there is a movie theater. In England, Martin and Allie are a young couple out on a date. He gives her jewelry and then takes her to a multiplex with 12 theaters. Their plan is to watch a horror movie. What they don't know is they are about to be in one. Stuart is not at the concession stand like he is supposed to be. He is actually in a room where he can watch footage on security cameras. His boss Clive is not happy. He tells Stuart to run the concession stand, and Stuart says there is something wrong with one of the movies. Clive said Stuart is not qualified to fix it because he hasn't had the training in digital movie technology, and that is why after more than 20 years, he is also no longer the projectionist. Stuart protests that he is smart enough to continue as the projectionist, and to fix whatever needs fixing. Still, Clive is the boss. But as we see throughout the movie, Stuart is brilliant at dealing with new technology. The couple buys their popcorn. There is something wrong with the lemonade, as Allie discovers when she tries some. Stuart has actually tampered with it. And the adventure begins.
- Stuart is a veteran projectionist at a large multiplex cinema. But his craft is no longer in demand following the digitization of the projection technology. He is 'demoted' by manager Clive to service staff. But instead of taking care of popcorn sales and cleaning, he prefers to retreat to the technical room. Here he has access to all the surveillance cameras in the cinema. One evening, he discovers a young couple on the monitors. Martin and Allie want to see the horror film in the late showing and are the only visitors. Stuart decides to take revenge on the 'kids', who show him no respect and leave their rubbish lying around after every screening, and on Clive, who refuses him access to the new projectors. With a special extra ingredient in his soft drink, he makes sure that Allie has to go to the toilet. After a long wait, her boyfriend Martin then sets off in search of her without success, until he suddenly sees a close-up of the obviously unconscious Allie on the screen in the deserted cinema. With projected 'stage directions', Stuart forces him to act according to his perfidious script and stages a film in which Martin and Allie become the involuntary main characters. And Stuart's script contains everything a good shocker needs: kidnapping, torture, death.
