There are many crossovers that the fans dream of, imagining their favorite characters from different series fighting each other and visualizing who is winning. But often, we see that this happens only in similar genres of anime, like magicians against magicians and warriors against warriors.

A battle between the Naruto and Berserk characters isn’t something fans would usually debate, but thinking about it, a fight between Zabuza Momochi and Guts is an intriguing matchup.
Can Guts escape Zabuza’s Water Prison?
Guts, who is famed as the Black Swordsman, is known for his raw power, durability, smarts, and sheer will to survive. On the other hand, there is Kirigakure’s best-Zabuza Momochi, the Demon of the Hidden Mist. He is a deadly shinobi with superior speed, tactical prowess, and powerful ninjutsu.

French actress Juliette Binoche has been named President of the Jury for the 2025 edition of the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The honor, which was announced on Tuesday morning Paris time, will fall exactly 40 years after the Oscar-winning The English Patient star first touched down at the festival with André Téchiné’s Palme d’Or contender Rendez-vous in 1985.
Binoche follows in the footsteps of U.S. director Greta Gerwig whose jury feted Sean Baker’s Anora with the Palme d’Or last year.
“I’m looking forward to sharing these life experiences with the members of the Jury and the public. In 1985, I walked up the steps for the first time with the enthusiasm and uncertainty of a young actress; I never imagined I’d return 40 years later in the honorary role of President of the Jury. I appreciate the privilege, the responsibility and the absolute need for humility,” said Binoche.

Presence, the story of a family haunting where the camera’s eye is the spectre’s point of view, draws on what are for many people all too palpable phenomena
Steven Soderbergh’s new film Presence this week heralds the return of a cinematic technique familiar to many fans of scary movies: the point-of-view shot. Viewing a scene through the eyes of an antagonist – such as the extended opening of John Carpenter’s Halloween – can be a chilling way of drawing viewers into the action, making us feel like we are both the watcher and being watched. When combined with sustained shots without an edit, we become eavesdroppers and voyeurs, lingering long past when the scene should have moved on. From Hitchcock’s Rear Window to Haneke’s Hidden, a camera that holds it gaze can fill us with a creeping sense of dread.

Thursday night is here, and that means more shows are returning. Let’s take a look at the broadcast TV networks tonight, Thursday, Jan. 16.
This is the night that NBC’s lineup returns to normal. We’re still waiting on CBS to get back to some normalcy, but that will happen in a couple of weeks. There are still shows to check out, whether you’re into comedy, drama, or game shows.
Law & Order, Found, Hollywood Squares, and more
Hollywood Squares was set to premiere last Thursday, but there was a last-minute change to the schedule. Instead, we’ll get the reboot of the series back tonight, which will see Drew Barrymore take the center square as contestants battle it out for the top prize.
This series is set to move to Wednesday nights in a couple of weeks. However, CBS still has the Thursday shows on a break.

Spanning 750 square kilometers, it would be unwise to commit a crime in Singapore. Not that it’s impossible to commit a crime in the city-state, but it sure is impossible to get away with it. The Southeast Asian nation is one of the most surveilled countries in the world with more than 100,00 cameras watching the moves of its 6 million strong population, which makes the central conflict of “Stranger Eyes” – a missing child – all the more elusive. But as the film progresses, writer-director Yeo Siew Hua intentionally shifts gears from a potential police procedural into a melancholic, existential study of how even in the age of mass surveillance, we seek our temptations and despite being watched by a camera, seldom do we feel seen in any meaningful way.
This narrative friction between seeing and being seen, being realized, and being wanted when there’s no chance of reciprocation is at the core of this taut thriller.

The most intriguing part of non-fiction movies set in the past, whether they're war films, action flicks, or sweeping historical dramas, is how accurately they portray certain events. While the most wonderful aspect of going to the movies is the pure escapism you get from being transported to another era, it is also interesting when a film depicts something truly unbelievable that happened for real.
There are many moments in movies that are so fantastical, they must have been dreamed up to spice up the narrative, and are too shocking to be real. For example, toward the end of Titanic, where the elderly couple embrace when the ship is sinking. It's a poignant moment in the film that happened. Another example is 127 Hours, particularly the scene where James Franco's real-life character Aron Ralston cuts off his arm to survive after being trapped between two rocks. This, like many...

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Outer Banks season 4, part 2
Outer Banks season 4's finale contains shocking revelations about several of the characters that will inevitably impact season 5, but none more so than JJ's death. Outer Banks Season 4 sees the original cast of Pogues reprise their roles, opposite several new enemies. While trying to keep their new business afloat, they begin hunting for the infamous pirate Blackbeard's treasure, which leads them to the Blue Crown, first around their home in North Carolina's Outer Banks, then across the world to Morocco.
Season 4 is especially big for JJ, first when it is revealed that his real father is Chandler Groff and then when, in the biggest shock in Outer Banks' entire run, Groff kills JJ in the season finale. The latter twist has been met with shock and disappointment from fans who question how the Pogues will deal with this tragedy in Outer Banks' final season.

Hidden Easter Egg spotted in Penelope and Colin’s wedding scene ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
As we approach a new season of Bridgerton, where we finally get to see the fairytale romance between Benedict and Sophia- Let’s see a throwback between the iconic couple Penelope and Colin. Season three was a complete roller coaster, like the books, with all the shenanigans with Lady Whistledown and the passionate love story between Colin and Penelope.
So, not revisiting this story before the next season would be appalling! If you have seen anything created by Shondaland, you know the artists and directors love hiding easter eggs in the pivotal scenes. For instance, there was a scene in season 2 where Penelope wears a beautiful green gown, which is a subtle nod to her and Colin’s future love story.
Her regular color before the legendary transformation was yellow, while the Bridgerton family color was blue.

Lydia Deetzs career in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice follows her fame as the host of the fictional paranormal talk show Ghost House, which is a meta nod to a big change that Tim Burton made to the 1988 original movie. The returning characters in Beetlejuice 2 humorously fulfill the trajectories set out by the end of the original film, with Delia becoming a famous artist, Charles still being an avid bird watcher (though the hobby indirectly kills him), Betelgeuse taking over clerical work in the afterlife, and Lydia rising to fame by turning her ghost-seeing gift into a TV show.
While Lydia films her final episode in Beetlejuice 2s ending, Ghost Houses conclusion is seemingly a meta nod to Burtons own career trajectory. Burton has frequently noted his personal connection to Lydias character, and explained her story as addressing the idea that people sometimes lose themselves and sell out as they grow older.

Superman is one of the most popular characters in the entire DC Universe, and the popular comic book "The Death of Superman" has served as inspiration for several projects throughout the years. In animation, live-action, and even video games, the story of Superman's death has been a popular point of adaptation, featuring Doomsday or even bigger villains. While some series have adapted details loosely, including in the Justice League cartoon, where Superman did not actually die but was sent to the future, others have been much more faithful to the source material.
Superman's darkest story has been made even heavier with the recent episodes of Superman and Lois. Following a clash with Doomsday, the show has focussed on the trauma of how this has affected others, and this follows a long line of adaptations that have done the same. While some reality shows show glitz and glam, others show the grit and dirt of living off the land. Sure, people still wonder if these shows are heavily produced and edited. There are questions if the survival reality show Alone is real, because even when a show is filmed in the woods instead of in a city or town, viewers are still skeptical.
Discovery's Homestead Rescue definitely seems to be one of the most fascinating shows of its kind. Marty Raney gives people advice on becoming homesteaders along with his children Misty and Matt. And it seems fair to assume that they have made some good money over 11 seasons.
Fans wonder who pays for the Homestead Rescue renovations. And fans also want to know about the Raney's family's Homestead Rescue salary along with what kind of lifestyle they lead.

With Stranger Eyes, ascendant Singaporean filmmaker Yeo Siew Hua transmogrifies what looks at first like a creepy crime thriller into something much more tricksy, potent and ultimately puzzling, yet still rooted in recognizable human fragility. Already scheduled to travel to further festivals after its premiere in competition at Venice, this cerebral, downbeat mediation on voyeurism, exhibitionism, identity, guilt and loss — all that fun stuff — could ride a wave of critical support to niche distribution beyond Asia, especially in cinephile markets.
Yeo’s work is known for its playful, pretzel-y approach to chronology and nested narratives, and while Stranger Eyes doesn’t dive as far as his A Land Imagined did into the meta end of the pool, it gets its feet wet. Like its predecessor, it starts in the middle and then flashes back, and drops in strange moments where time seems to shift for characters who overlap and parallel one another.

While Emilia Clarke's Qi'ra was Han Solo's first love as seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story, what happened next in the Star Wars timeline after she left him? Although Qi'ra's story hasn't been featured in any subsequent films or streaming series, her tale has continued in other Star Wars media, most notably in the pages of Marvel Comics' canonical series set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Qi'ra fate - and her leadership of the Crimson Dawn crime syndicate - has been explored across a full trilogy in the comics (and a role in Ubisoft's Star Wars: Outlaws).
At the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Qi'ra killed the crime lord Dryden Vos so she could take his place as leader of Crimson Dawn. The crime cartel is one of five operating within the Dark Times of the Empire's reign, all...

A significant number of animated Star Wars characters have recently made the jump to live-action. However, there are plenty more galactic heroes and villains I would love to see so the same. Because the established Star Wars canon spans multiple mediums and formats, it's hopefully only a matter of time.
Thanks to Star Wars shows such as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and especially Ahsoka, there's been a recent influx of animated characters from The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels who have joined Lucasfilm's live-action projects. This includes characters like Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Hera Syndulla, Bo-Katan Kryze, Cad Bane, and more. However, here are 10 more animated Star Wars characters I'd love to see in live-action as well.

Satoru Gojo was the strongest Jujutsu Kaisen character, if he returns he holds the power to settle the fight on his own. Even though he has been confirmed to be dead, fans still find themselves wondering, what if Gojo returns.

The unique Furnace Golem in Charo's Hidden Grave is challenging players' understanding of the new enemy in Elden Ring's Shadow Of The Erdtree Dlc. That's because this is a second variation of the mini-boss players are used to. Unlike the first, the unique Furnace Golem in Charo's Hidden Grave has armor on its feet and legs, putting the old strategy of attacking that spot to rest. However, that doesn't mean there isn't a way to beat this unique variation of the mini-boss.
There are a total of eight Furnace Golems in the Shadow Of The Erdtree Dlc, one of them being the unique Furnace Golem in Charo's Hidden Grave. Who else has the same grace behind and in front of the camera as Kevin Costner when it comes to bringing the rough landscapes of Westerns to the big screen? From Open Range to Dances With Wolves, the Oscar winner, 69, has not only evoked the spirit of the American frontier but also left an indelible mark on the film industry over his four-decade career.
His dedication to the work shines through in his smartly picked roles and his meticulous approach to acting. Celebrating his recent directorial sensation, Horizon: An American Saga, which recently made waves at Cannes, Costner’s connection to the method of storytelling is apparent. Well, currently, he is stirring the news with both his direction and a headline-grabbing entanglement with Yellowstone’s creators.

A new episode of Survivor 46 aired on Wednesday night. Would it feature another blindside?
The season has become known for blindside votes, including Tiffany Ervin going home with her Immunity Idol.
Only seven castaways remained for Survivor 46, Episode 11. They could nearly taste the upcoming finale night.
After Tiffany and Hunter McKnight got voted out with Idols in their pockets, the remaining players knew it was time to begin searching for Idols again.
Plus, it was likely that another Reward Challenge would happen, but it would be tough to duplicate the drama from the last one.
As a reminder, Liz Wilcox blew up on Q Burdette after he declined to invite her to an Applebee’s feast.

Cannes — For years, reports of MipTV’s terminal decline were somewhat exaggerated. Now, however, they’re real. On March 26, Rx France, organizers of MipTV, announced the launch of Mip London, over Feb. 23-28, 2025. MipTV’s 2024 edition will be its last.
Attendance, once 10,000 in 2018, 9,500 in 2019, had plunged to 5,510 on-site delegates last year. That still made it the second biggest TV event in the world. Still dwindling participation this year, is down to around 3,000.
What a MipTV swan song, bulwarked by Canneseries, can deliver, is another question. 10 takes on this year’s edition:
MipTV Sticking to Its Guns
Traditionally, MipTV delivered a straight sales market where sales companies or divisions hold back-to-back meetings with distributors who get links to their shows. History has hardly been on MipTV’s side. As simply raising the finance for a show in an environment of rising costs and declining commissions has become more and more of a challenge,...

After years of battling typecasting, particularly following a critically acclaimed performance, Dunst took control of her career. The actress, who started her career at just the mere age of six, stepped away from the “depressed girl” roles and jumped into all sorts of different projects.

American Dreamer deserves better than it has gotten. Shot three years ago during the pandemic this delirously black comedy premiered at Tribeca 2022 and got lost in the crowd. The filmmakers including first time feature director Paul Dektor and screenwriter/producer Theodore Melfi decided to then hold it back and recut and tighten it eliminating 10 minutes of the original running time. In early 2023 it turned up at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, still largely ignored, and then its distribution hunt was further delayed by the Hollywood strikes. Finally Vertical has wisely picked it up and it will be opening in theatres and VOD Friday.

TrustNordisk has acquired international sales rights on Pal Oie’s upcoming monster movie Kraken.
The film is currently in pre-production, with a €5.3m (£4.5m) budget; and a 2025 theatrical release pencilled in for Norway.
Kraken will follow a marine biologist who discovers the eponymous mythical monster while doing research near Norway’s deepest fjord.
Oie will reunite with Nordisk Film Production’s John Einar Hagen and Einar Loftesnes on the film, after the duo produced Oie’s 2019 action thriller The Tunnel. Vilde Eide has written the script; it is produced in collaboration with Handmade Films in Norwegian Woods, who make genre titles based on Norwegian folklore.

In 2015, Fox debuted a science-fiction mystery series called "Wayward Pines" starring Matt Dillon as U.S. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke who is sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of two fellow agents in a small town in Idaho. After getting in a car accident, he awakens to discover he cannot leave Wayward Pines, nor can he contact anyone outside of the town. He quickly learns that one of the missing agents is dead, while the other, his ex-partner Kate (Carla Gugino) has simply settled down and started a new life in the town.
If that wasn't odd enough, Wayward Pines is boxed in by an electric fence and run by Sheriff Arnold Pope (Terrence Howard), who punishes any attempts to flee the city with a public execution known as a "reckoning." If this sounds like David Lynch's "Twin Peaks" by way of Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery," you're not far off.

Serbian director Emilija Gašić will follow International Film Festival Rotterdam premiere “78 Days” with the “atmospheric and tense” psychological thriller “Witches,” she reveals to Variety exclusively.
“I’ve always been drawn to scary elements in films — especially if there are moments of comic relief. Growing up in Serbia, I was surrounded by stories and legends. There are so many superstitions and traditions that date back to pagan times.”
Her new film will focus on a woman going through menopause, without support from her loved ones or the healthcare system. Desperate, she turns to an elderly woman for help, a folk healer from a nearby village. Soon, she is asked to perform a series of rituals in order to lift a supposed curse.
“In some villages, there are still these revered healers. I am interested in tapping into this heritage because it’s so rich and really unlike anything else we have seen,...

Exclusive: Skydance has taken on the challenge of turning the bestselling YA fantasy novel series Ranger’s Apprentice into a live action film, with the hope it can become a franchise. Skydance has gotten control of the John Flanagan book series, and has closed a big deal with Hidden Figures helmer Ted Melfi to adapt, direct, and produce the film. Kim Quinn will also be producer.
Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger will produce alongside Melfi and Quinn. Flanagan will be executive producer, and Matt Grimm will oversee for Skydance.
I’ve heard that Melfi has made a deal worth high 7-figures if the movie gets made. His task will be to take the first two volumes – The Ruins of Gorlan & The Burning Bridge – and get a franchise off the ground that focuses on an orphan named Will who becomes an apprentice to a group of mysterious protectors known as the Rangers.

One more trailer has arrived for the musical version of The Color Purple ahead of its theatrical release next month in the UK.
To date, the only major cinematic interpretation of The Color Purple is the fondly-remembered 1985 adaptation by Steven Spielberg.
However, the story (which of course began life as a 1982 epistolary novel by Alice Walker) has since been adapted for Broadway and that musical version has now been turned into an upcoming film starring Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures), Danielle Brooks (Orange Is The New Black) and singer Fantasia Barrino, which is set to be released on 26th January.
The Color Purple ‘tells of the struggles of an African American woman living in the south during the early 1900s. It’s also about the strong bond shared by three friends.’ Spielberg’s 1985 adaptation saw Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey and Margaret Avery in the leading roles. Winfrey is involved in...
