Netflix has just released the list of movies and television shows that are expiring from the streaming service beginning on December 1, 2024.

Throughout the entire month, the streamer will be slowly taking away some big hits. This is a monthly re-occurrence for Netflix, as they often have to remove titles due to expiring licensing agreements and other factors.

There are always some big shows and films that are removed, and December 2024 is unfortunately no exception! In addition, the streamer is removing a few of their games.

4 Movies Netflix Just Released For Your Weekend Binge

Over the weekend (November 8-11), Netflix is unleashing 4 movies, namely, the slice-of-life Vijay 69 which follows an old man who competes in a triathlon contest at age 69, Focus which centers Will Smith and Margot Robbie working together on their latest con scheme, and Rob Peace aka the movie based on the biography The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace by Jeff Hobbs.

Netflix is also bringing back...

Armie Hammer’s exile from the film industry appears to be over.

The actor — who hasn’t acted in more than three years following sexual assault allegations that arose in 2021 — has landed a key role in upcoming Western “Frontier Crucible.”

From “Bone Tomahawk” and “Dragged Across Concrete” producer Dallas Sonnier, the film comes from Sonnier’s Bonfire Legend banner and will be directed by Travis Mills (“The Pendragon Cycle”). Thomas Jane (“Boogie Nights”) also stars, alongside Myles Clohessy (“The Pendragon Cycle”), Eli Brown (“Run Hide Fight”), Eddie Spears (“Yellowstone”) and Zane Holtz (“Hunter Killer”), singer-songwriter Jonah Kagen and newcomer Mary Stickley.

“I’ve made a career out of smashing taboos, while always striving for great cinema,” Sonnier said in a statement. “This moment is the perfect mix of my two dedications. I cannot wait to work with Armie Hammer on this incredible western, a genre I adore.”

Looking for something to stream that won’t cost an arm and a leg in subscriptions and rental fees? A slew of shows and films like “Kick-Ass,” “Rush Hour,” “Sicario,” “Training Day,” “The Departed” and “Quiz Lady” and more will be arriving on the free ad-supported streaming service Tubi starting on Dec. 1.

With the holiday season quickly approaching, Tubi has a slew of holiday offerings with “Arthur Christmas,” “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas” and “Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights.”

As for originals, Tubi will premiere five new projects — one documentary and four thrillers.

Exclusive: French sales company Free Dolphin and Nu Boyana Film Studios are teaming up to make films for ad-funded streaming markets.

The plan to create five to ten films annually for the international AVOD market, which will be delivered through “innovative production and distribution strategies.”

The pair will use Nu Boyana’s studio facilities and Free Dolphin’s distribution networks to get projects off the ground.

Free Dolphin chief Fiorenza Cella and Nu Boyana CEO Yariv Lerner are at MIPCOM this week, where they will be presenting films and docs and launching Runway Reels, which launched on Paramount+ in the U.S. in 2025. Ireland’s Tarf Media will be co-selling the latter.

The Free Dolphin-Nu Boyana partnership will officially be unveiled in Cannes, where Cella and Lerner will work out of an office at the Gray D’Albion hotel.

Remember “Hunter Killer”?

To jog your memory, it was a 2018 Lionsgate release starring Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman in a story about the U.S. Navy rescuing a kidnapped Russian president. It eked out a domestic $14 million.

It debuted on Netflix last week. It is currently #4.

Also debuting was Todd Haynes’ “May December,” with Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, and Charles Melton (the latter perhaps as familiar to Netflix subscribers as the two Oscar winning actresses because of his “Riverdale” fame).

It ranks #9 currently after three days, after peaking at #5.

That seems most significant in suggesting that studios have no one-size-fits-all strategy to maximize home viewing, and also emphasizing how key PVOD is to elevating revenues after theatrical release.

“May December” is one of the best reviewed films of 2023, with its already good awards prospects enhanced by key early awards last week. It had two weeks in theaters.

Netflix unveiled and previewed upcoming original South African series and films at Mip Africa during a panel entitled “See What’s Next on Netflix.” The global streamer also touted multi-title partnerships with local filmmakers.

If you’re a fan of Mel Gibson’s classic action flicks, be sure to stream them before they leave Max at the end of August.

All four “Lethal Weapon” movies and “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome,” starring the late, great Tina Turner, will be leaving the streaming service. Luckily, you’ll have all month to watch them.

Watching the new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” animated movie in theaters? Max has several films featuring the radical reptilians: the live-action “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze” (1991)

and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III” (1993), as well as the animated “Tmnt” (2007).

Kaiju fans will want to check out “Godzilla” (2014), “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (2019), “King Kong” (1933) and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” (2012).

This week we’re headed to South Africa, where psychological thriller drama Dam has captured eyeballs through its mix of mystery, social commentary and supernatural elements. The second season dropped earlier this year and is one of streamer Showmax’s top series. “Barry” returns for its fourth and final season. After the shocking Season 3 finale which saw Barry (Billy Hader) getting arrested and Cousineau (Henry Winkler) being hailed as a hero, there will be plenty of consequences for both. The dark comedy premieres on April 16 with two episodes.

“A Black Lady Sketch Show” will also bring plenty of laughs when it returns for its fourth season. The sketch comedy series premieres April 14.

On the drama side, the limited series “Love and Death” premieres on April 27. It’s based on the true story of Candy (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pat Montgomery (Patrick Fugit) and Betty (Lily Rabe) and Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

With its list of new releases for April 2023, HBO Max is premiering the final episodes of two major shows.

First up is the continuation of Titans season 4 on April 13. Returning after a four month hiatus, these next six episodes will be the last go around for HBO Max’s gritty live-action DC series. Arriving three days later on HBO proper is the fourth and final season of Barry. Bill Hader and the rest of the Barry team wrote themselves into a fascinating corner with the conclusion of season 3. And judging by the first teasers for season 4, this final batch of episodes will indeed catch up with our favorite actor/hitman in prison.

Other TV shows of note this month include the Pete Davidson-starring animated series Fired on Mars on April 20 (light ’em up) the the Elizabeth Olsen-starring true crime story Love & Death on April 27.

Bill Hader returns for one final season of Barry and the popular sketch comedy A Black Lady Sketch Show kicks off its fourth season on HBO Max in April 2023. Additional highlights of the streaming service’s April lineup include the debut of Love & Death, a limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Patrick Fugit; season two of Somebody Somewhere with Bridget Everett; and the return of 100 Foot Wave for a second season.

In addition, the Titans mid-season premiere arrives on April 13. HBO Max offers this description of the fourth and final season’s remaining episodes: “The Titans – with the exception of Gar – are returned to the Temple of Trigon and rush to find Sebastian and Mother Mayhem before Sebastian summons Trigon. Along the way, they come across a prophecy that may require Kory to make a huge sacrifice to save the world.

In the final season of HBO Max’s “Barry,” premiering on April 16, Barry’s arrest for the murder of Cousineau’s girlfriend leads to a shocking conclusion. Barry (Bill Hader), a hitman who stumbles into acting, explores the dark, often comedic underbelly of both LA gangsters and Hollywood. Henry Winkler stars as Cousineau, Barry’s acting teacher and the man forced to confront the reality of his former student.

Another crime story will come to HBO Max in April, although this one is based on a true story. “Love & Death” revolves around the murder of Betty Gore (played by Lily Rabe) in a small Texas town in 1980. Her husband Alan (Jesse Plemons) has an affair with Candy (Elizabeth Olsen), who attends their church. Suddenly, the thrills turn deadly. Candy picks up an ax, whacks her rival over 40 times, and then claims self-defense. The new...

Ryan Kavanaugh has acquired a large stake in the movie streaming service Row8 through his production outfit Proxima Media, TheWrap has learned; as part of the deal, the companies have collaborated on a new joint venture, Proxima 8.

The terms of the deal are not known but the deal aims to give Proxima big savings on marketing and distribution of its films.

Proxima 8 plans to create interactive movies experiences that among other things will offer behind-the-scenes looks at productions, chances to participate in productions or premieres, and virtual interactions with stars and directors.

Subscription-free Row8 offers rentals of new and back catalog films via distribution deals with the major studios. The service allows customers to cancel rentals within the first 30 minutes of watching and exchange for another title, and offers “scene alert,” which alerts parents to potentially inappropriate scenes before they display.

The “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series at Disney+ has added Lance Reddick and Toby Stephens to its cast as two major gods, Variety has learned exclusively.

Reddick will guest star as Zeus, while Stephens will guest star as Poseidon. The pair will appear in the series alongside Walker Scobell as Percy as well as Aryan Simhadri as Grover and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth.

Exclusive: Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias and Ryan McPartlin are set as series regulars in Hungry, NBC’s multi-camera comedy pilot starring and executive produced by Demi Lovato. Additionally, multi-Emmy-winning sitcom helmer James Burrows will direct the pilot, which comes from Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills, Sb Projects and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Written and executive produced by Suzanne Martin, Hungry follows a group of friends who belong to a food-issues group helping one another as they look for love, success and the perfect thing in the fridge that’s going to make it all better.

Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis have been cast in lead roles of the FX series adaptation of “Shogun,” Variety has confirmed.

“Shogun” is based on the James Clavell novel of the same name. It is set in feudal Japan and charts the collision of two ambitious men from different worlds and a mysterious female samurai: John Blackthorne (Jarvis), a risk-taking English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan, a land whose unfamiliar culture will ultimately redefine him; Lord Toranaga (Sanada), a shrewd, powerful daimyo, at odds with his own dangerous, political rivals; and Lady Mariko, a woman with invaluable skills but dishonorable family ties, who must prove her value and allegiance.

Gerard Butler made his screen debut in 1997 period drama Mrs. Brown, but it wasn’t until the success of Zack Snyder’s 300 a decade later that he finally found his niche in Hollywood at the complete opposite end of the genre spectrum. The heavily stylized comic book adaptation remains the biggest live-action box office hit of his career, but over the last thirteen years he’s carved out a reputation as a solid and dependable presence in the realms of the mid budget action thriller.

For the most part, when you see Butler’s name attached to a movie, you know exactly what you’re going to get. While there’s been some notable duds along the way such as Gods of Egypt, Geostorm and Hunter Killer, the 51 year-old can typically be relied on to deliver a gruffly charismatic performance in solidly enjoyable actioners that tend to do decent business at the box office.

Nu Boyana Studios, the eastern European complex owned by Millennium Media and Nu Image that has hosted shoots for Netflix smash The Hitman’s Bodyguard and indie blockbusters Expendables 2 and London Has Fallen, is reopening as Bulgaria eases lockdown restrictions.

The plan is to restart production on commercials once the government has approved proposed safety and hygiene protocols, and Screen understands the postponed shoot on the Megan Fox horror thriller Till Death would be the first feature to go and has been earmarked for July.

We have the highlights of what's coming and going from HBO Now and HBO Go in March 2020.

March 2020 is an extremely HBO month for HBO.

What we mean by that is that the list of new releases for the month contain a lot of the hallmarks of the HBO brand that the network has built over the years. There is the third season of an expensive and popular sci-fi series with Westworld season 3 premiering on March 15. Then there's also the requisite new David Simon series when Philip Roth adaptation The Plot Against America premieres on March 16.

If that weren't enough, March 2020 sees the arrival of a big ticket superhero movie with X-Men: Dark Phoenix arriving on March 21. It's not a good big ticket superhero movie, but still! You may want to rewatch it all the same. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is a sort of superhero movie itself.

The CW's adaptation of Katy Keene might be in the same universe as Riverdale, but don't expect to see a lot of murder, cults, corpses, and teens with skeevy dark sides. Instead, you can expect singing, fashion designing, and a group of young adults chasing their dreams in New York City. The series, which premieres on Feb. 6, heavily focuses on four ambitious professionals: Katy Keene (Lucy Hale), who wants to be the next great fashion designer; Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) who's determined to make it big as a singer; Jorge, aka Ginger Lopez (Jonny Beauchamp), who's ready to take the Broadway world by storm; and Pepper Smith (Julia Chan), who wants to open her own version of Andy Warhol's Factory. Another character viewers will likely come to love is Katy's boyfriend, K.O. Kelly - a bouncer, an aspiring boxer, and a truly adorable significant other.

“Angel Has Fallen,” the action sequel starring Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman, earned $1.5 million at the box office Thursday from preview screenings at 2,600 locations. It opens on 3,286 screens this weekend.

Lionsgate is releasing “Angel Has Fallen” following up from the success of both “Olympus Has Fallen” in 2013 and “London Has Fallen” in 2016. It’s the widest release this weekend as the summer comes to a close, with Fox Searchlight’s horror and thriller “Ready or Not” having already opened on Wednesday.

The studio is projecting “Angel” to open in the low to mid teen range this weekend, with independent trackers estimating approximately $13 million. For a comparison, “London Has Fallen” earned only $850,000 in its debut opposite a then record-setting weekend for Disney’s “Zootopia,” but it ultimately raked in a $21.6 million opening. The original “Olympus Has Fallen” opened to $30.3 million and grossed $170.2 million worldwide.

German film and TV powerhouse Tele München Gruppe (Tmg) has been bought by global investment firm Kkr, the companies announced today. The acquisition will see industry vet Fred Kogel appointed as CEO.

Tmg is one of Germany’s leading indie players with one of Europe’s largest film and TV libraries, its own production firms and stakes in TV channels Tele 5 and Rtl II. Two years ago it launched its own streaming service, Filmtastic.

The company is one of Germany’s most active film buyers, putting out movies through label Concord. Recent releases include Destroyer, Hunter Killer and The House That Jack Built. Their TV slate includes anticipated drama The Name Of The Rose, starring John Turturro and Rupert Everett.

Samuel Hadida, a French producer and distributor with over 70 producing credits including “True Romance,” the “Resident Evil” franchise and most recently as a co-executive producer on this year’s “Hunter Killer,” has died. He was 64.

Hadida died unexpectedly on Monday at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital following a short illness, his brother, Victor Hadida announced in a statement.

Hadida and his brother have owned and managed Metropolitan FilmExport, a French distributor of American indie fare, which they founded with their father, David.

In addition to working with director Tony Scott on the 1993 film “True Romance” and “Domino” in 2005, Hadida also collaborated with Constantin Film on the “Resident Evil” series of film and the “Silent Hill” movies. More recently, he worked with Claude Lelouch on “Un+Une” and “The Best Years,” an upcoming sequel to the Oscar-winning “A Man and a Woman.

Iraqi director Mohamed Al-Daradji can remember the exact day he was held hostage by Al Qaeda: Dec 16, 2004. Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund is eyeing a $700M investment in Pacific Rim and Jurassic Park studio Legendary Entertainment, according to reports.

The country’s Public Investment Fund is considering to purchase a stake from Chinese conglomerate Wanda, which bought the company in 2016, according to news agency Reuters.

This comes as Saudi Arabia’s public prosecutor charged 11 people over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi but refused to implicate crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
