Many beloved properties of Cartoon Network are about to disappear from Max as Warner Bros. Discovery continues to trim down their streaming library. Congratulations to Nickelodeon for winning the animation rivalry simply by letting us stream SpongeBob SquarePants.

When controversial Wbd CEO David Zaslav assumed control of the WarnerMedia empire and its massive, culturally crucial portfolio of original TV shows and movies in 2022, he set the tone for his tenure by cancelling completed and well-screened films like Coyote vs. Acme just to earn tax write-offs and recoup some of the production costs. Very quickly, cartoon-loving Max subscribers and Warner Bros.-associated artists realized that Zaslav’s intention with the post-merger mega-company was to rein in its sprawling streaming library, cut down on animation and focus on pushing shows that are cheaper and quicker to produce, like numerous spinoffs of 90 Day Fiancé or a Harry Potter-themed baking competition.

Second only to Mel Blanc himself, voice actor Jeff Bergman has voiced the most Looney Tunes characters over the longest stretch of time. He “officially” got the gig — the reason for those quotes will become clear below — in 1989 when Bugs, Daffy and the rest became teachers on Tiny Toon Adventures. As the year winds down, it’s time to look back at Netflix’s biggest hits, and today, we begin by looking into what kids’ TV shows picked up the most points in the Netflix top 10s over the past 12 months.

This list is compiled using FlixPatrol data collected from the daily top 10s on Netflix from over 80 countries around the globe. They assign points and values to each title that gets featured on any day. Their data isn’t perfect as their method doesn’t quite fully capture the complexity of viewership data, such as total watch time, repeat viewings, or demographic details of the audience. Also worth noting is that Netflix changed up its top 10 metrics midway through the year to favor views over pure viewing hours. That said, their data provides a pretty accurate snapshot of what performed best over a long period.

Sufferin’ succotash! Warner Bros caused quite the stir online Monday evening when a false report said beloved Looney Tunes shorts would leave Max, the subscription-based streaming service. The error arrived as a part of the studio’s “What’s New on Max This December” press release, stating departures for classic Looney Tunes cartoons, The Looney Tunes Show, and Joe Dante’s 2003 live-action animated hybrid Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

“Looney Tunes was included in error as a title leaving the platform,” read the statement, shedding light on the status of the classic shorts. “This is not the case and the show will continue streaming on Max.”

Fans revolted when reports about the classic shorts leaving Max hit the internet. I was hosting an episode of the Talking Comics podcast when the story hit Twitter, and I ranted about the departure alongside my co-hosts. I’m sure that conversation will age well.

Ringing Korea’S Grand Bell

“Concrete Utopia,” South Korea’s Oscar contender, was Wednesday named best film at the country’s annual Grand Bell Awards. It also won prizes for best actor, best supporting actress, art direction, sound mixing and visual effects. A disaster movie set in a devastated Seoul, it makes an unusual Academy Awards selection, but has gained high praise from reviewers. Variety this week said the film felt like “’Earthquake’ crossed with ‘Lord of the Flies’.”

The Grand Bell’s best director award nevertheless went to Ryoo Seung-wan for “Smugglers,” while Ahn Tae-jin took the best new director award for “The Night Owl.”

In the other half of the event, Disney+’s “Moving” was named best series, earning Han Hyo-joo the best series actress award to boot.

Bugs Bunny just received his fist-ever Emmy award.

The legendary “Looney Tunes” character’s current voice actor, Eric Bauza, won the award for “Outstanding Voice Performance in an Animated Program” at the 2022 Children’s & Family Emmys over the weekend.

The Filipino Canadian actor was not only recognized for his work as Bugs, who just celebrated 80 years, but also for portraying Marvin the Martian, Daffy Duck and Tweety in HBO Max’s “Looney Tunes Cartoons” series.

Bauza, 43, began his acceptance speech by honouring the man of 1,000 voices a.k.a. Mel Blanc, who was the original Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and more on the O.G. “Looney Tunes Merrie Melodies” shorts during the Golden Age of Animation.

Estelle Harris, who played George Costanza’s (Jason Alexander) mother Estelle on the iconic NBC sitcom Seinfeld, died Saturday evening of natural causes in Palm Desert, California, just weeks before her 94th birthday.

“It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25pm,” her son Glen Harris, who held her as she drew her final breath, told Deadline. “Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humor, empathy and love were practically unrivaled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.”

Born Estelle Nussbaum in New York City on April 22, 1928, Harris appeared on 27 episodes of Seinfeld between 1992 and 1998. (The character had been named Estelle before she landed the part.) Hugh Davidson has signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. Animation.

Under the deal, Davidson will develop, write, and produce animated projects for Wba across all platforms. The deal also allows for him to develop live-action projects for Wbtv.

“I have been at Warner Bros Animation for 10 years which in entertainment business years is about 100 years, so we finally decided to ‘make it official,'” Davidson said.

The first project under the new deal is “Keeping Up with the Joneses,” which has received a presentation order from HBO Max. In the series, an aging matriarch scrambles to keep up appearances in her wealthy, judgmental Texas neighborhood.

Davidson most recently served as executive producer and showrunner of the adult animated series “Mike Tyson Mysteries,” which concluded its fourth season on Adult Swim earlier this year.

He most recently directed and voiced a handful of characters in Warner Bros. Animation’s Scooby-Doo pic Scoob, which became #1 on PVOD when Warner Bros. released it in May. It was recently moved over to HBO Max in June, where it still resides. The film is the latest take on the classic cartoon and marks one of many Scooby-Doo project he’s been involved over the years. He also directed, Scooby-Doo Kiss – a Rock and Roll Mystery, in 2015, which combined pop icons Scooby-Doo and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Kiss, with its world premiere happening in Hall H at the 2015 Comic-Con International in San Diego and was released in July 2015.

Zac Efron has signed on to voice Fred Jones while Amanda Seyfried will voice Daphne Blake in Warner Bros.’ animated Scooby-Doo feature film “Scoob.”

It was revealed earlier this month that Will Forte had been set to voice Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, while Gina Rodriguez would be voicing Velma Dinkley. The mystery-solving teens and their talking Great Dane Scooby-Doo first appeared half a century ago on the animated TV series “Scooby-Doo: Where Are You?,” which was created by Hanna-Barbera and first aired in 1969.

Plot details of the movie involve the Scooby-Doo characters teaming up with other characters in the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from the evil Dick Dastardly.

Tony Cervone is directing “Scoob.” His credits include “Space Jam,” Cartoon Network’s “The Looney Tunes Show,” and “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.” Matt Lieberman (“Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief”) wrote the screenplay.

Producers are Chris Columbus, Pam Coats, and Allison Abbate.

HBO dominated the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday night, grabbing 20 awards, including eight for the Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra, the most-awarded program of the night. Ever since Bridesmaids came out and proved Kristen Wiig to be a solid lead actress, her career has gone through a Saturday Night Live departure, an unneeded cameo role in the fourth season of Arrested Development, and voiceover work for both Despicable Me 2 and The Looney Tunes Show. Weirdly, the only leading role she.s seen was in the dramedy Girl Most Likely, which hasn.t been getting many positive reviews, here or elsewhere. She does, however, have a solid string of films on the way, and TheWrap reports one of those projects might be the next effort from Chilean filmmaker Sebastian Silva - a surrogacy drama titled Nasty Baby. I don’t watch a lot of TV anymore. But when I do, I usually watch cartoons and movies. Why? Well, I don’t care for people who use a lot of hairspray and have tans (Jersey Shore) or flat out ignorance(Honey Boo Boo). I also don’t care for people who depends on their spouses’or ex-spouses’-to get a show (any Housewives/Wives show). Nor do I care for…females…who get paid to act like 12 year old girls when they’re well in adulthood (any Bad Girls Club show). Don’t get me started on the pawn shops. Toys Available this Holiday Season Sunrise, Fl, and Burbank, CA – June 17, 2013 – Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Jazwares™ team up to announce their master toy and electronics partnership for Teen Titans Go!, Warner Bros. Animation’s new action-packed comedy adventure series based on the DC Comics Super Heroes, which airs Tuesdays 7:30 p.m. (Et/Pt) and Saturdays 10:30 a.m. (Et/Pt) on Cartoon Network as part of the network’s DC Nation programming block.

Jazwares’ Teen Titans Go! master toy line will deepen the company’s presence in the rapidly growing action-comedy retail space. Teen Titans Go! action figures, plush and role-play toys will be available for holiday 2013 sales at Toys R’ Us.

Teen Titans Go premieres on Cartoon Network tonight, an ostensibly watered-down version of the 2003 series. The familiar voices of Scott Menville (as Robin,) Khary Payton (as Cyborg), Hynden Walsh (as Starfire), Tara Strong (as Raven) and Greg Cipes (as Beast Boy) will remind long-time fans of the Titans’ epic battles against Slade (aka Deathstroke), mixed in with just the right sprinkling of chibi anime humor.

However, familiarity ends with the voices. Teen Titans Go lacks the substance needed to survive in its prime time spot. The pilot has two mini-episodes: “Legendary Sandwich” and “Pie Bros.” There’s no real action, just a few jokes and gags that won’t have you coming back week-to-week for more pedestrian tomfoolery.

In “Legendary Sandwich,” Raven sends the Titans off on a fool’s quest to recover a few mythical sandwich ingredients. Now, she can watch a My Little Pony knock-off cartoon in peace.

Cartoon Network has announced its new and returning shows for 2013, and there are some terrific looking shows coming our way. Unfortunately, two favorites are not on the list. More about that below. First the new programming, which includes a redesigned and re-imagined CG-animated special starring The Powerpuff Girls; two new action-adventure half-hour series based on heroes from DC Comics, Teen Titans Go! and Beware The Batman; and from Lego, three quarterly installment specials of CG-animated The Yoda Chronicles.

Cartoon Network has revealed their 2013-2014 TV show lineup today and, much to the dismay of fans, confirmed that that “Green Lantern: The Animated Series” and “Young Justice” have been canceled. While this may not come as the biggest surprise for the “Young Justice” viewers who paid attention to both the series’ hiatus and subsequent cancellation of its comic book counterpart, the news certainly comes as a blow for fans. Together with the end of “Green Lantern: The Animated Series”, this leaves only “Beware the Batman” and “Teen Titans Go” as the remaining DC Nation shows, both of which have yet to premiere on the network.

While the absence of the shows didn’t necessarily cement the cancellation of the series, Giancarlo Volpe, the showrunner for “Green Lantern: Tas” confirmed the news via his Twitter stating, “This time we knew. They just didn’t want us to announce it publicly until they did.

It seems that traditionally, British law requires that a marriage be consummated to be completely legal, and nobody is quite sure what "consummated" means for a gay couple or a lesbian couple. After responding to Optimus Prime’s call for Autobots to come to Earth, the last team of Rescue Bots arrive and are tasked with becoming human anthropologists while disguising themselves as a first response rescue team.
