Fifteen years later, Stewie Griffin is once again desperate for his mother’s attention — and he actually has something important to tell her this time.
TVLine has your first look at a vaccination message airing after Sunday’s Family Guy (Fox, 9:30/8:30c), which calls back to a fan-favorite joke from Season 5’s “Stewie Loves Lois.” That episode, which originally aired in 2006 (15 years ago!), found Stewie suddenly enamored with Lois, despite previously dedicating his life to overthrowing her.

This review is based on the first four episodes, which were provided prior to us.
Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events was a Ya book series like few others, one that relished in the morose, the bizarre and the tragically hilarious lives of the Baudelaire children, a trio of precocious, remarkably-astute orphans struck with endless tribulations after their house is burned to the ground, everything they owned is destroyed and their parents are horrifically consumed in flames — and that’s before they meet Count Olaf, their wicked, deprived, massively selfish legal guardian who’ll stop at nothing to steal his adopted kids’ enormous fortune.
It was a deliciously absurd, gleefully disdainful, compulsively wicked and thesaurus-friendly 13-part collection, the kind that tickled the fancy of the right kind of young literary consumer (notably, those who enjoy their comedy dark), though one that didn’t quite get the cinematic transition...

One of my favorite things as a kid was whenever different television series would do holiday-themed episodes, especially when it came time to celebrate Halloween in October. A lot of great shows over the years have done an great job of embracing our favorite holiday, and if you’re feeling a bit nostalgic, here’s a collection of Halloween-themed TV specials currently available on Netflix Instant that should help get you guys ready for All Hallows’ Eve.
One Note: There are a handful of entries here that aren’t necessarily Halloween episodes, but they are still shows I love revisiting every October as they perfectly embody the spirit of the season.
American Dad (Season 6, Episode 3)

10 names are in the frame for Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Here's the shortlist...
Director David Yates returns to the world of Harry Potter later this year as he begins production on spin-off series Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Set around 70 years before the antics of Harry Potter and his chums, the film will be the first in a new trilogy, that's being directly penned for the screen by J K Rowling.
Eddie Redmayne is believed to be in pole position for the pivotal role of Newt Scamander. But across The Wrap and Variety, it's being reported that the shortlist for other roles in the movie is in.
So, for the part of Tina, the names on that list are reportedly Saoirse Ronan, Dakota Fanning, Lili Simmons (True Detective) and Alison Sudol (Transparent). Here are the quartet, clumsily put together by someone fumbling...

Last weekend, Jason Reitman's Men, Women & Children opened in wide release to poor reviews and lackluster ticket sales. In fact, after earning only $306, 367 on its opening weekend, the film now holds the distinction of being the fifth-worst opening movie from 1982 to the present, according to Box Office Mojo. It's an unfortunate turn for Reitman, a talented director who seems to be in a bit of a rut (see also: his previous film, Labor Day). But what about the four indie flicks that performed even worse than Men, Women & Children—did they get what was coming to them, or were...

“The Simpsons” boss worries Sunday’s major death may be overhyped: We never said we’re killing off an “iconic” character “I’ve done everything I can to temper any disappointment by saying that, although the press is claiming this is an ‘iconic’ character, we never said that,” says executive producer Al Jean, in an interview with TVLine. “We just said it’s a ‘beloved’ character. Family Guy returns for season 13 with a vengeance—or at least the most-anticipated crossover episode in years as the Griffins spend some quality time in Springfield with the Simpsons (Sept. 28, 9 p.m. Fox). “I don’t have any expectations that it will start world peace,” executive producer Steve Callaghan tells EW. “I hope it entertains people for an hour, and I hope it puts to rest rumors that there’s a big feud between us and The Simpsons. "Family Guy" hit Ballroom 20 on Saturday (July 26) for its annual Comic-Con panel, an event with kinda tends to ebb and flow in hype based on whether or not Seth MacFarlane is there to mock question-askers. This was a second consecutive Seth MacFarlane-free year. Last year he was working on "A Million Ways To Die In The West." This year, his absence was unexplained [on the "Family Guy" panel, but it came up at "American Dad" subsequently] and raises the possibility that Seth MacFarlane has just become too big for making fun of questioners at Comic-Con. Fortunately, in lieu of Seth MacFarlane, the "Family Guy" team arrived with a longer clip reel for the season's hour-long "The Simpsons Guy" crossover event, which will air on September 28. At TCA press tour last week we got a very brief sizzle reel that included jokes about the Springfield location ("I can't imagine we're allowed to...

To celebrate today's 10th anniversary of "Mean Girls," everyone should do what I did last night and rewatch the hilarious high-school flick (it's currently available to stream just about everywhere, but I admit to owning it on DVD). There's a reason we're making a big deal about the biting comedy's decade mark. In the 10 years since "Mean Girls" was released, no other realistic teen comedy (meaning not the ones about magical orphans, sparkling vampires, or dystopian warriors) has come close to becoming as much a cultural touchstone as the Tina Fey-penned, Mark Waters-directed classic.
Waters, who in the ensuing decade has directed or produced seven films, including "500 Days of Summer," "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," and "Vampire Academy," told Moviefone that he thinks the reason "Mean Girls" still resonates with audiences is that essentially the high-school experience is the same one generation to the next. FX has given 10-episode series orders to two new comedies -- "Married," starring Judy Greer and Nat Faxon, and "You're the Worst," from "Weeds" executive producer Stephen Falk. The new shows, both from FX Productions, will premiere on the network in July. "Married" comes from Andrew Gurland (of the found footage movies "Mail Order Wife" and "The Virginity Hit"), and stars Greer and Faxon as Lina and Russ Bowman, best friends fighting to hold their marriage together in the face of suburban woes and a lack of a sex life. Gurland wrote the script for and directed the pilot, and is executive producing the series alongside Paul Young and Peter Principato. C-Span insistently stamped the hashtag “NerdProm” on their coverage of this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, but the annual political roast looked more like Washington’s answer to the Golden Globes. Conan O’Brien was the official comedy diplomat of the night — a return trip for the late-night host, who slung jokes in President Clinton’s direction back in 1995. After proving he could successfully helm and help revive a beloved franchise in "The Muppets," it looks like James Bobin will be getting an opportunity to direct yet another musical. While the last thing we’d all expect to hear is a possible Gary Sanchez/Disney co-production, considering their previous credits include Ferrell's many comedies and raunchy fare like "Bachelorette," "The Campaign," and "The Virginity Hit," details about “Tribyville” have been kept under wraps. Do you love all of the dick jokes in today’s raunchy, R-rated comedies, but hate it when the movies stray away from its protagonists’ penises and try to put their focus on something else, like flash mobs, food trucks, or burgeoning art careers? Then the new comedy from screenwriter Jeff Tetreault, Johnson, might be exactly what you’re looking for. Wondering how exactly one depicts a wang taking human form on film? You’re in luck, Tetreault has another dick joke to tell as a non-answer to this question. He...

"The Oogieloves In The Big Balloon Adventure" is not like ordinary movies. Aimed strictly at children ages 3-5, the newly released kids' film from Kenn Viselman, the man who brought "The Teletubbies" and "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends" to American audiences, is an interactive experience.
"Oogieloves" -- which includes cameos from stars like Chazz Palmentieri, Christopher Lloyd and Cloris Leachman -- "features visual and auditory cues which invite the audience to 'move' the action along, allowing parents and kids to interact not only with the characters, but also with one another," reported the Sacramento Bee. The problem? So few people attended "Oogieloves" on opening day that audience members were likely talking to themselves.
According to Erc Box Office, "Oogieloves" grossed $60,000 on Wednesday from 1,500 theaters. That gives the film a per-theater average of $40. Dollars. Should that number hold, "Oogieloves" would earn the distinction of having the worst wide-release opening weekend ever,...

A pair of NBC series going into their second seasons have added new members to their casts.
"Smash" is giving Karen (Katharine McPhee) a new roommate, while Christina Applegate's character on "Up All Night" is getting a brother.
On "Smash," Broadway actress Krysta Rodriguez ("The Addams Family") will play Karen's "fun and spunky" new roomie. Karen presumably will need one after splitting with Dev (Raza Jaffrey won't be a regular next season). The character is an ensemble actress in Broadway shows who's looking for a big break, which makes it sound as though she has more in common with Ivy (Megan Hilty) than Karen.
Rodriguez originated the role of Wednesday in the "Addams Family" musical and has also appeared in the 2007 revival of "A Chorus Line" and "In the Heights." Her screen credits include a guest role on "Gossip Girl" and the Will Ferrell-produced movie "The Virginity Hit.

Project X may be the definition of a “one trick pony,” but it embraces that trick with such enthusiasm and balls-to-the-wall wackiness that it succeeds in making a riot worthy movie for its generation. This movie focuses on scaling up the levels of craziness one drunken teen at a time, while reminding everyone what a great – if misbegotten – party is all about – no rules. Once you’ve thrown rules out the window, you’ve opened yourself up to orgy worthy antics that would make Spartacus jealous.
You’ve seen movies in the past, where a group of high school boys try to live it up before they head to college. Usually, it involves losing their virginity, such as in American Pie, Superbad or The Virginity Hit. These movies always culminate in a big party and one last chance to “be a man.” Project X skips all those wasted moments surrounding...

After a brutal year at the box office in 2011, with many seemingly sure-fire mvoies underperforming, the studios have been breathing a sigh of relief in 2012 so far. For each of the nine weekends of 2012, takings at U.S. theaters have been significantly higher than the equivalent weekends in previous years, and two movies -- "The Vow" and "Safe House" -- have already crossed the psychologically vital $100 million barrier, with "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" a dead cert to join them by the end of next weekend.
Even the arrival of tentpole question mark "John Carter" this weekend is unlikely to curb the upswing -- even assuming it opens at the lowest end of estimates, around $25 million, that would still be more than "Limitless," the winner of the equivalent weekend last year. But it's a mark of the current climate that it's the $250 million Disney tentpole that everyone's worried about, whereas...

The Hangover's Todd Phillips has directed movies that involve drunken nights of debauchery and craziness. Before he directed Old School, Road Trip, and produced Project X, Phillips got his start with documentaries. He directed the G.G. Allin documentary Hated, and then helmed Frat House for HBO.
The project was to be part of the network's American Undercover series. The doc debuted at Sundance in 1998, but was shelved after accusations that the events shown were staged. Frat House was co-directed by Andrew Gurland (The Virginity Hit), The movie has been online before, and it is once again available. Here is a description: Frat House purports to go deep into the unseen world of rush week and the hazing that involves new recruits. The sizzle part of the doc is when Phillips decides to pledge himself in order to accurately experience and document what rushes undergo in order to join a fraternity.

To say that Todd Phillips has had an ongoing cinematic interest in recklessness and debauchery would be an understatement. As the director of "The Hangover," "Old School," "Road Trip" and the producer behind this weekend's R-rated found footage teenage bacchanalia "Project X," there is no one who is perhaps more tuned in to hedonistic male desires. But even before he made it big, Phillips was exploring what drives young men to the extreme ends of drunkeness and sex.
The director got his start with the notorious G.G. Allin documentary "Hated," before moving over to HBO to helm "Frat House." Originally intended for the network's "American Undercover" series, the one-hour doc premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 1998 and following accusations that events in the movie were staged, it was permanently shelved. It has popped up online now and again over the years, and seems to have surfaced once more, and...

Project X is not an off-shoot of the TV talent competition or a remake of the Matthew Broderick chimp thriller, but the latest in what seems to be an endless entry in the found footage / hand-held video genre, a film subset ( or conceit ) that is quickly wearing out its welcome at the multiplex. I suppose it really exploded with the box office smash over ten years ago with The Blair Witch Project and continues today with the horror series Paranormal Activity. Just weeks ago the format was used in the super-powered fantasy Chronicle. Now the shakey-cam is utilized for this new ” party ” comedy ( not the first found comedy - The Virginity Hit was a 2010 dud ). Will X fire up lots of big screen yucks or go down like warm stale beer?

Exclusive: Joanne Woodward has become executive producer on Lucky Them, a film that was begun by her late husband, movie immortal Paul Newman, before he passed away in 2008. Woodward has Marisa Tomei, Thomas Haden Church and Allison Janney attached to star. Scripted by Huck Botko and Emily Wachtel and to be directed by Botko (he co-wrote The Last Exorcism and co-directed The Virginity Hit), the film is about a fortysomething rock journalist who gets an assignment to find her ex-boyfriend. It’s a late bloomers coming-of-age quirky romantic comedy, and a semi-autobiographical tale about the writer’s life in NYC, dating musicians and finding herself when most of her friends have settled down. Newman helped the filmmakers early on, giving them notes and sending the script to actors. He wanted to do a cameo in the film. Since Newman liked the project so much, Woodward put her name on it to help the cause,...

More like The Second to Last Exorcism.
Those that saw The Last Exorcism, Lionsgate's 2010 faux-documentary horror movie, know that the ending didn't easily set up for a sequel, but earning $67 million worldwide on a budget of $1.8 million was too much of an incentive for Lionsgate, who announced that screenwriter Damien Chazelle (Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench) would write the sequel last August (Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko (The Virginity Hit) wrote the original). The studio clearly liked what Chazelle wrote since the latest announcement includes a director.

Catch all the ridiculous antics, such as Peter’s love of the sauce landing him a kidney transplant, Brian’s endless sexual exploits and Stewie and Brian’s diabolical mission to kill Santa in the North Pole. Apparently Wednesday is a good day to release trailers for male-oriented comedies, since two big ones just hit the web (also, March is apparently a good month to release male-oriented comedies, since that's when both of these movies come out).
Let's start with the film version of the 80s TV show "21 Jump Street." The movie stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill (who also co-wrote the screenplay) doing the ol' cops-undercover-in-high-school routine. Also, this trailer is a red bander and there's a fair amount of salty language, so be aware of that if you're about to watch this at your job, especially if you work as, like, a kindergarten computer teacher.
Here's what I like about the "21 Jump Street" trailer:
1)The chemistry between Tatum and Hill. The formula for success with buddy cop movies goes something like this: 78% chemistry of the male leads, 10% quality of comic material, 10% quality of action scenes,...

Ever since he hit major paydirt with The Hangover (and maybe even before that), Todd Phillips has been building a career on comedies where bad situations just continue to escalate until they reach hilarious proportions. He's only the executive producer on the upcoming film Project X (not to be confused with the 1987 Matthew Broderick flick), but it certainly seems like yet another comedy that is attempting to get by on this all-too-familiar formula. The only difference this time around is that instead of a bachelor party, it's a high school party that gets out of hand. There is one other wrinkle here, which is the fact that it appears to be shot in a "found footage" style (not unlike the recent Will Ferrell / Adam McKay comedy The Virginity Hit). However, if you ask me, the trailer does not even have a hook -- it is literally a movie about a...

I’m sure shooting Project X was a lot of fun, but I’m still not confident the final project will turn out that way. With producer Todd Phillips (director of The Hangover, Old School), director Nima Nourizadeh, who has worked on Santigold, Lily Allen and Hot Chip music videos, have come together to make a mysterious house party film. We now have the first trailer (with an interview from the director) from Vice, on the film based on a true out-of-control party.
Judging just from the trailer it looks like this may not appeal to anyone outside the demographic of its characters, but in the interview Nourizadeh said it “starts off being funny and progresses into something else. It’s sexy, but it gets dark.” With a cast of unknowns, many were handed cameras and told to shoot as much footage as possible. It was culled together to the product you see here.

Exclusive: NBC has bought an untitled comedy project created by filmmaker Andrew Gurland (The Last Exorcism, The Virginity Hit) and Kevin Napier, who wrote the Ben Stiller-directed 2009 Fox pilot The Station. Universal TV and Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay’s studio-based Gary Sanchez Prods. are producing the untitled semi-autobiographical show, which is based on Gurland’s real life experience coming to terms with his ex-girlfrend marrying his childhood friend and the unique friendship the three of them developed. This is one of several projects Gary Sanchez Prods. has set up through the overall deal it signed with Universal TV this past summer. Gurland, repped by Wme and Principato-Young, is now in pre-production on Gurland on Gurland, a first-person documentary comedy written, directed and starring him, which received a pilot order at Showtime.

This weekend, Contagion spreads onto over 3,700 screens at 3,222 locations (including 257 IMAX venues) and is poised to end The Help's reign. Warrior trains to be a slow-burning crowd pleaser on close to 2,100 screens at 1,869 locations, while Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star and Creature should be contenders for the worst opening title, hitting 1,500 and 1,507 single-screen locations, respectively. With a rash of familiar faces (Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, etc.) and deadly disease thriller storyline, Contagion recalls Outbreak, only with a darker, grittier, more global bent. Back in 1995, Outbreak debuted to $13.4 million or the equivalent of nearly $25 million adjusted for ticket price inflation. Contagion's infection and potential end-of-humanity angles also echo the recent zombie craze, and the movie's even opening in the same mid-September slot that the Resident Evil franchise is known for. Contagion's diffuseness, though, may not make it a threat to September's record books.

Horror sequels aren't a complicated thing — if a movie achieves any amount of financial success, another installment isn't likely far behind. That's why it was surprising that, after earning $67 million worldwide on a budget of $1.8 million, Lionsgate didn't immediately announce a sequel to The Last Exorcism last August. That's all changed now.
THR reports that a sequel is on the way with a new screenwriter, Damien Chazelle (Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench). Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko (The Virginity Hit) wrote the original.

Eli Roth and Daniel Stamm's The Last Exorcism made nearly $67 million worldwide last year, and while that may not sound like a ton of money, it cost just $1.8 million to make. As you can probably guess, that kind of profit means that The Last Exorcism may not be as final as the title would have you believe. According to Heat Vision, Studio Canal will finance and produce a follow-up to the film and they are planning to head into production sometime this fall. It would appear, however, that none of the original talent will be involved in the sequel. Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko (The Virginity Hit) wrote the script for the first one, but this time around a guy named Damien Chazelle has been hired to pen the sequel. No word yet on whether or not Eli Roth will return as producer. Damien Chazelle only has one credit...

[1] Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer has signed up for NBC's The Firm, based on the bestselling John Grisham novel of the same title. (The book was also turned into a 1993 film starring Tom Cruise.) Helfer will be playing Alex Clark, a senior partner at the central law firm of Kinross & Clark. The project reuintes her with fellow Cylon Callum Keith Rennie. The story revolves around an attorney named Mitch McDeere (Josh Lucas) and his wife Abby (Molly Parker), who are trying to make a new life for themselves in D.C. When Mitch gets brought in as a partner at Kinross & Clark, he slowly comes to realize that the firm isn't exactly what it seems. Juliette Lewis co-stars as Mitch's receptionist, and Rennie as Mitch's older brother.
