Costume designer Michael Clancy, who worked on My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Ray Donovan, has died. No further details are currently available but Deadline will update this story accordingly.
His friend Naomi Wolff Lachter remembered Clancy and celebrated their friendship via Instagram with a collection of photos. She referred to him as “a true original” and a “brilliant artist.” Clancy and Lachter both worked on the 2010 series, Running Wilde.

Ever since the demise of indie powerhouse Carsey-Werner, there has been no studio focused on broadcast comedy series. Surprisingly, another indie, Lionsgate Television, has found itself carrying the C-w mantle. In a tough economic environment, Lionsgate managed to go 3-for-3 with its existing broadcast series — CBS’ Ghosts, ABC’s Home Economics and Fox’s Welcome to Flatch — all of which were renewed for next season. All of them are single-camera comedies — a genre whose financials have become partially challenging under the increasingly fragile broadcast model — and the tally, three, matches the bulk of Lionsgate’s entire previous broadcast haul of Fox’s Running Wilde, ABC’s Nashville and NBC’s Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.
The pickups cap an impressive streak of 16 renewals for 15 shows and no cancellations for Lionsgate series across various platforms that started in July 2021. And while Lionsgate just reported a quarterly earnings miss, the company’s TV Production...

In a plot twist worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster, Marvel filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo have signed on to join forces with the Daniels – the creative duo behind 2016’s Swiss Army Man. Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan will deliver a science fiction movie, which represents the first major film deal for the Russo Brothers and their fledgling production company.
The film currently remains untitled, but will be written, directed, and co-produced by the Daniels. As such, it is expected to feature their very specific, now legendary brand of comedy and drama. Swiss Army Man was their first feature length theatrical film, and quickly stirred up interest on the film festival circuit, with its unusual tale of a man’s bond with a flatulent corpse. The story of loneliness, obsession and connection was striking enough to attract the talents of Paul Dano, Daniel Radcliffe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead to the cast...

Update: Marvel has officially confirmed that Joe and Anthony Russo will indeed direct the two-part Avengers: Infinity War movie, due out in 2018 and 2019. Even just five years ago, Anthony and Joe Russo were carving out a pretty healthy career as directors on doomed TV shows like Carpoolers, Running Wilde, and Animal Practice, about a veterinarian whose best friend is a monkey. Of course, they did also work on good shows like Arrested Development, Happy Endings, and Community, but the point is they were just small screen guys doing simple sitcoms with small casts and zero special effects. So, naturally, they're the guys who will be directing both parts of another series that has small casts and zero special effects, The Avengers: Infinity War - Parts 1 and 2. Badass...

Will Arnett already stars in Arrested Development and Bojack Horseman, and now he's getting a third Netflix project, just in case he was thinking of leaving the office once in a while. It's an eight-episode TV show called Flaked, and it'll star Arnett as an L.A. lifestyle guru who falls for his best friend's crush. Arnett's writing the show alongside Todd Margaret's Mark Chappell, and Mitch Hurwitz is helping executive-produce — it's the Running Wilde reunion fans have been clamoring for for years!

Those people (and TV critics) wondering why Will Arnett would take a role on a CBS multi-cam sitcom with a running fart gag in the pilot, for crying out loud, even if it is exec produced by Greg Garcia, need look no further than Forbes’ just-out list of the highest-paid TV actors. It’s topped entirely by CBS comedy stars. (Note the somewhat apologetic tone of Arnett’s recent multi-cam explanation to Digital Spy: “I’ve spent the last 10 years doing single-camera shows, from Arrested Development to 30 Rock to Running Wilde to Up All Night and, it sounds lame, but I just thought it would be really fun.”) Ashton Kutcher is ranked No. 1, paid $24 million between June of ’12 and ’13, because he’s the guy who enabled Warner Bros TV to retain a big franchise and CBS to hang on to an important piece of its campaign to take over comedy...

Will Arnett returns to prime-time television tonight with new series The Millers, and we couldn’t be more nervous. But why? Will Arnett is great! Sure, we loved him on Arrested Development, and yes, we cheered whenever he’d pop up to sabotage Jack Donaghy. But with the short-lived Fox series Running Wilde under his belt, and the mismanaged Up All Night to his name, Arnett is dangerously close to becoming known as a product of a successful TV series who simply can’t get it done on his own. And he’s not alone.

Chicago – There are very few recurring weak points in the CBS lineup. They’ve been dominating total viewers for years with mega-hits like “NCIS” and “The Big Bang Theory.” But there is one thing they haven’t been able to figure out — something to partner with “Tbbt.”
After failing miserably with shows like “Rob!” and “How to Be a Gentleman,” they gave up and just moved “Two and a Half Men” to Thursday nights. That worked and so now they’re trying to expand the empire by pulling the night’s big hits apart and launching two programs in between. Neither are good and one is horrible. Ah well. Maybe they can move “2 Broke Girls” to Thursdays too.

The better of the two new CBS programs this evening has also been one of the most reviled in new season previews. Meh.

After emerging from its cancellation cocoon as 15 imperfect-but-overall-entertaining butterflies, Arrested Development has returned to its natural state of hibernation, sleeping off the Forget-Me-Nows while Mitch Hurwitz, Ted Sarandos, and Brian Glazer take turns trying to coax their creation back out of its chrysalis, whispering words like “conversations,” “interest,” and “willing.” Hurwitz may not know the magical combination of words, dollar signs, and scheduling that will bring the show back out of its diamond-dust-encrusted shell, but he has a good idea of what it will look like—in terms of puppet content, suggestive architecture, and Running Wilde alums, at least ...

The Arrested Development Movie. The idea of an Arrested Development movie has circled the internet since the show was still on the air, but it's only since Netflix brought back the Bluths that it seemed like a genuine possibility. Below is what Hurwitz had to say about it all, including a hint at Running Wilde star Peter Serafinowicz's possible appearance in the film...“I’ve saved Peter Serafinowicz’s part for the movie. I love Peter because he’s just so funny. The film isn’t definite because it’s not my decision to [make it happen]. It would be like me saying, ‘I’m definitely going to make a James Bond sequel.

A long time favorite in these parts since catching our eye in shows such as How Do You Want Me and his drily hilarious Look Around You - to say nothing of his stint as the voice of Darth Maul, his appearances in Spaced and Shaun of the Dead, and his show stealing turn as Fa'ad on Running Wilde - Peter Serafinowicz is about to make a major splash in the feature world. And, no, I'm not talking about his rumored addition to the cast of James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy. Or the new Muppets movie, either. No, the thing that will soon make fans of the comedian very happy indeed - while hopefully generating a whole lot more fans - is Serafinowicz's debut...

The first season of ‘Arrested Development’ in seven years hit Netflix in its entirety at 3 Am on May 26. If you’re like many others, you’ll be skipping the Memorial Day cookouts to stream the whole season as quickly as possible. It’s been a long time since Fox closed its doors on Arrested Development, the cult comedy that has morphed into a cult classic since going off the air. But unless you’ve re-watched the first three seasons of Arrested recently, we’re sure there are a few odd, but hilarious plot points that may have slipped your mind.

New York — It all started with a slap for Matthew Rhys. Trying out for "The Americans," he took one in the puss from Keri Russell.
This new FX drama, whose third episode airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. Est, focuses on two Kgb spies posing as an ordinary American couple shortly after Ronald Reagan became president.
As Philip and Elizabeth Jennings, they have a comfortable home in a Washington suburb, two sweet kids, a travel agency they run and, by all signs, a solid piece of the American Dream. No one would suspect that they are Russian-born plants bent on burying the United States with subterfuge and brutality.
No one, that is, unless it's their new neighbor, FBI agent Stan Beeman (played by Noah Emmerich with an infectious mix of cunning and dorkiness), who has recently moved in with his family across the street. He represents just one among the many threats of exposure,...

The great hair-chopping fiasco of 1999 has not been easy for Keri Russell to overcome. But you won't be thinking about Felicity or her worst decision ever when you see Russell in deadly mode in FX’s tense Cold War drama The Americans (premiering tonight at ten). She and Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters) play sleeper Kgb agents who’ve been posing as happily married couple Elizabeth and Philip Jennings for the past fifteen years in suburban Washington D.C. We first meet Elizabeth mid-mission, giving head to a man from whom she needs information. (Deadly and racy!) It’s a bummer for Phillip, who’s fallen in love with both America and his wife. Long before she slipped into her first Manolos or a dashing man's arms, Carrie Bradshaw was fabulous.
Even when she was 16 and a high-school junior, Carrie, who grew up to be the center of HBO's celebrated series "Sex and the City," was delightful. Her spirit shines through in The CW's "The Carrie Diaries," premiering Monday, Jan. 14.
AnnaSophia Robb plays Carrie. She doesn't look like Sarah Jessica Parker. Rather, she projects something more elusive, Carrie's personality and hints of the woman she would become.
"It was almost next to impossible" to find the right actress, showrunner Amy Harris tells Zap2it.
"We auditioned 300 very talented actresses. There was a through line I had to find, connecting young Carrie to old Carrie. When we sat down with AnnaSophia -- Sarah Jessica brought such a real intelligence but thoughtfulness to the part but also that she thinks about the world and writes about it the same way.

"The Carrie Diaries" is officially a "Sex and the City" prequel, but it works a lot better as a TV show if you can forget that.
The CW's new dramedy, premiering at 9 p.m. Et Monday (Jan. 14), follows the 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb, "Soul Surfer") in 1984 as she navigates high school and falls in love, both with the cutest boy at her school and with Manhattan. Through its first three episodes, "The Carrie Diaries" works quite well as a coming-of-age story, thanks in no small part to Robb's winning performance and a pretty solid cast of young actors around her.
First-generation fans of "Sex and the City" might find some of Carrie's biographical details out of whack. For starters, she lives with her loving, occasionally overprotective, recently widowed dad (TV veteran Matt Letscher, most recently of "Scandal"), whereas HBO Carrie had a father who abandoned her. Premiering on January 30, FX's new show "The Americans" is part spy series and part domestic drama, set during the Cold War and starring Keri Russell (coming off "Running Wilde") and Matthew Rhys as Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, a seemingly normal suburban Washington D.C. couple in 1981 who are actually deep-cover Kgb spies, a fact their two very American children know nothing about. "The Americans" is executive produced by "Justified" creator Graham Yost, who made an appearance at the TCA Winter Press Tour to discuss the show with Russell, Rhys, executive producer Joel Fields and creator and executive producer Joe Weisberg, a former CIA officer. Weisberg stressed that the series is as much about a relationship as it is about espionage: "It’s going to have a lot of ups and downs like most of the marriages that we’re all familiar with." Carrie Bradshaw has a sister?
In The CW's "The Carrie Diaries," premiering this January, fans are transported back to a time where Carrie lived with - and talked about - her family, and the new series features the legendary character's little-known sister, Dorrit.
"They never address that Carrie had a sister in 'Sex and The City,' but in the books there's actually two sisters, and Dorrit is one of them," actress Stefania Owen (formerly of the Keri Russell and Will Arnett Fox sitcom, "Running Wilde") told Access Hollywood during a recent visit to the show's set.

Sure, everybody knows Carrie Bradshaw - Sarah Jessica Parker in the HBO phenom that kept Sunday nights ablaze from 1998 till 2004, then again in a movie that was hot and a sequel that was not. Now headed for the small screen is The Carrie Diaries, based on the 2010 prequel by Sex author Candace Bushnell. The pilot for the CW network will star AnnaSophia Robb, shown here for the first time in costume (designed by Sex and the City and Gossip Girl's Emmy-winning Eric Daman) as the young Carrie. Keri Russell was seen heading back to her home in Brooklyn after running errands yesterday. The actress wore a striped top and jeans as she took advantage of the springlike weather and some downtime between projects. Her current movie, Austenland, is in postproduction, and it was announced earlier this week that Keri is set to make a return to television as she recently signed on to play a Kgb spy in an arranged marriage in the upcoming FX pilot The Americans. The show is a far cry from reality for Keri, who has been married to Shane Deary for five years and is mom to 4-year-old River and 2-month-old baby daughter Willa Lou. Keri's last TV series Running Wilde was cancelled after less than one season, but we're excited to see her once again back on the small screen every week. View Slideshow ›...

We’ve been following the development of the brand new CW pilot, The Carrie Diaries. You already know it is a prequel series to Sex and the City, but do you know who just run the male lead role? We do, and lucky for you, we’re in a sharing mood.
The young actor’s name is Austin Butler and you may have spied the blond on Lifetime’s The Bling Ring. According to Deadline the young Carrie Bradshaw will be acted by AnnaSophia Robb of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia, The Reaping and Soul Surfer.
He may not be Mr. Big, but Austin Butler will enter Carrie’s 80′s era High School kind of the same way Edward Cullen enters the cafeteria at Forks High. He’s going to draw attention. His character’s name is Sebastian Kydd. That doesn’t sound made up at all,...

I still find it hard to believe the CW is going ahead and making a prequel pilot to HBO’s Sex and the City, and even more unbelievable they would cast someone like AnnaSophia Robb as the young Carrie Bradshaw. That’s not at all a comment against Robb. She’s a terrific young actress and has done very well for herself in the realm of feature films. However, I simply cannot imagine her as playing the iconic character of Carrie. In my eyes she doesn’t look anything like Sarah Jessica Parker, the actress who originally played Carrie, and that’s a big deal for me.
But the die has been cast and this is the result we’re stuck with. I’m almost certain I’m going to be nearly alone in my dislike of this casting choice. Judgment should probably be reserved for when the pilot is actually watchable,...

AnnaSophia Robb has some big - not to mention fashionable - shoes to fill. The actress, 18, is set to play a high school version of the Manolo Blahnik-obsessing, love-chasing Carrie Bradshaw, a role originated by Sarah Jessica Parker in HBO's Sex and the City, The Hollywood Reporter confirms. The CW has ordered a pilot episode of The Carrie Diaries, which will chronicle Bradshaw's teen days in '80s Manhattan, long before penning her sex column. Regardless of whether or not there's a third "Sex and the City" movie, the hit franchise is far from being over. The CW has ordered a pilot of "The Carrie Diaries," based on Candace Bushnell's novel about a teenage Carrie Bradshaw, and now the network has found an actress to fill Sarah Jessica Parker's stilettos.
AnnaSophia Robb has landed the starring role in the prequel pilot, Entertainment Weekly reports. The series is set in the 1980s, when high-schooler Carrie first discovers her infatuation with New York City.
The 18-year-old Robb is mostly known for her work in movies, most recently starring in "Soul Surfer" and other kiddie fare like "Race to Witch Mountain," "Bridge to Terabithia" and the remake of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
"The Carrie Diaries" comes from "Gossip Girl" creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, and costars Stefania Owen ("Running Wilde") as Carrie's 14-year-old sister Dorrit.

The CW has finally found its Carrie Bradshaw, the role originally made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker in the HBO hit "Sex and the City."
After months of speculation, the lucky actress playing Bradshaw in the CW prequel, "The Carrie Diaries," is AnnaSophia Robb, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Robb, 18, is perhaps best known for her role in 2007's "Bridge to Terabithia."

In a twist of fate which could have been lifted straight from an episode of the hit HBO series, "Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell is facing a lawsuit from an ex-manager who has also been described as her former gay best friend.
The New York Post reports that Clifford Streit, who apparently served as the model for the flamboyant character Stanford Blatch (played by Willie Garson), is demanding a 7.5 percent cut of Bushnell's total earnings from both the TV series and subsequent movies, a sum he figures is no less than $150,000.
