Amy Jellicoe: [after seeing Damon slip on the grass outside his house] Oh my god, are you okay?
Damon Manning: What the fuck?
Amy Jellicoe: I just wanted to apologize.
Damon Manning: You came to my fucking house?
Amy Jellicoe: I didn't mean to upset you. I just thought you might want some closure.
Damon Manning: I don't want to have anything to fucking do with you, okay?
Amy Jellicoe: Calm down, okay?
Damon Manning: You can't come back to town and wrap everything up in a little fucking bow at your convenience. My wife is in there, okay you retard? My kid is in there. How fucking dare you? You almost lost me my job!
Amy Jellicoe: Yeah, well we both made mistakes, okay?
Damon Manning: Yeah I made a mistake. Sleeping with you was a big mistake, but you know what Amy? You ARE a mistake. You're a giant fucking mistake and everybody knows it. So get out of my face. Get out of my fucking neighborhood. You see me at work, you keep your crazy ass walking. I got nothing to say to you.
[he runs back up to his house]
Amy Jellicoe: [yelling from her car] Let me tell you something! You... I want to talk to you! I want to talk to you motherfucker!
[slams her car door and drives forward, ramming into Damon's car]
Amy Jellicoe: Fuck!
[reverses and tries again, still crashing into his car]
Amy Jellicoe: fuck...
[Damon comes out of his house and Amy gets out of her car]
Amy Jellicoe: You want my insurance?

Now some months later, Amy is rehabilitated in a retreat in Hawaii.
Now over her nervous breakdown. Amy wants to start again and this means getting her job back.
Billed as a dramedy, the first episode is dark with not a lot of laughs. You sense that Amy's rebirth might not be straightforward. She is not taking her meds.
The pilot benefits from good performances from Laura Dern and her real life mother Diane Ladd who plays her mom.
It might take a few episodes to figure where the show is going.
