Writer/Director Melvin James had a 14-day window to shoot this film, with four lead characters and over 50 supporting and extra characters. The script was written in 30 days as the project came up one day when Melvin and Cris Cartier (the producer) were sitting around in Tick Tock Diner in Manhattan trying to figure out their next move when their other feature-film project, "Caramel," got stalled. They realized that it could be several months before anything happened with "Caramel," so they decided to jump into another film instead of just sitting around waiting. "Still a Teen Movie" started with a joke Melvin make about a funny scene he would like to see in a teen comedy.
Natalie Daniels' debut.
