Although Shattered Memories was primarily developed for the Nintendo Wii, versions were also released for the PlayStation 2 and PSP.
Shattered Memories is a "reimagining" of the original Silent Hill as stated by its developers. Shattered Memories reuses some of the characters' names and begins with a car accident like the original Silent Hill, but only uses these as a springboard to tell its own original story with its own gameplay mechanics.
This is the last Silent Hill entry Akira Yamaoka was involved with prior to his resignation from Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. around the end of 2009. He has stated he would return to work on future titles if asked.
In game, Michelle Valdez and her boyfriend, John, are voiced by Kate Higgins and Yuri Lowenthal, respectively. These two are known for playing, again respectively, Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha in the Naruto (2002) and Naruto: Shippûden (2007) T.V. series. Sakura is known for being madly in love with Sasuke in the show.
