Days after Blackpink member Jennie released her latest solo single, “You & Me,” she has decided to jazz it up. An updated version of the tune subtitled “Jazz ver.” removes the original’s squeaky synths, helium-pitched backup vocals, and handclaps in favor of twinkling piano, shimmying tambourine, and finger snaps. There’s even a Latin jazz flare to the rhythms that support her chorus, as she sings, “I love you and me dancing in the moonlight/Nobody can see it’s just you and me tonight.”

Every time Blackpink has performed on stage at Coachella, it has been a history-making event. Their debut appearance there, on the Sahara stage back in 2019, marked the first time that a K-pop girl group performed on any of the festival’s stages. Fast forward four years, and the four-piece supergroup took the main stage for two weekends in a row to become the first K-pop group to be named headliners in Coachella’s 24-year history. Now that the event has wrapped for the year, Blackpink are finally taking it all in.

Blackpink captivated the 2023 Coachella crowd Saturday, becoming the first Korean act to perform at the California festival.
In true Blackpink fashion, the performance was a sight to behold. With special solo breakouts, awe-inspiring group numbers, and a healthy amount of fireworks, Blackpink gave fans everything they were hoping for.
For starters, the two acts leading up to Blackpink set the tone perfectly — Charli Xcx brought heaps of energy and some outstanding choreography, and Rosalía rode scooters around the stage while treating fans to some excellent songs off Motomami.
And though Blackpink’s set ended up being delayed a bit longer than expected, their arrival was monumental. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa immediately broke out into their 2022 track “Pink Venom” and continued on with “Kill This Love” and “How You Like That” back to back. Needless to say, the crowd was energized.

Blackpink just made history at Coachella. The K-pop heavyweights — Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé — performed an almost two-hour-long set of their greatest hits as they closed at a jam-packed second night of Coachella on Saturday.
The performance actually started 30 minutes later than planned, but fans didn’t seem to mind the wait. A group of dancers kicked things off with dramatic choreography, building up the anticipation for the girls. Then, Blackpink appeared behind clouds of smoke and immediately burst into a high-voltage rendition of “Pink Venom” that elicited wild screams and cheers from the crowd.

What makes us care about the characters in a television show? It’s a strange relationship we have with them, an unfamiliarity that turns into something akin to family. Soon enough, you’re a Soprano or a Simpson, part of the Brady bunch or in with the Ewing clan. And then TV can play its great emotional trick: it can put these characters through tragedy and triumph, and make the viewer feel that it’s theirs. This is the well-worn pathway that You & Me, the new Itvx three-part drama, forswears. Instead, we are dropped into a world and asked to care, straight away, when things begin in media misery.

Exclusive: House Of The Dragon star Emma D’Arcy, Industry actor Harry Lawtey and Willow star Ellie Bamber have joined Maxine Peake (The Village), Oscar nominee Ciaran Hinds (Belfast) and Jason Isaacs (The Death Of Stalin) in feature thriller Anna (formerly known as Mother Russia).
As we revealed earlier this year, the film will tell the story of world-renowned journalist and human rights activist Anna Politkovskaya (Peake), who went from being a local print journalist to braving the Chechen killing fields and exposing Russian state corruption under Vladimir Putin. She refused to give up reporting on the war in Chechnya despite numerous acts of intimidation and violence, including being poisoned. She was ultimately murdered in the elevator of her block of flats and it remains unclear who paid for the contract killing.
