Although the fact that Jessie is not Jewish is a major source of concern to Judith, Stacey Farber is Jewish in real life.

While it's not stated where the series takes place some Montreal landmarks can be seen. But in several episodes it's stated that the 18 year-old couple can't drink because they're underage. That will be true if the series takes place in the neighboring province of Ontario where the drinking age is 19 (21 for the United States) but in the province of Quebec it's 18 so in that case they would legally be able to drink.
