ABC’s 2025 midseason lineup includes the return of Will Trent and The Rookie as well as the debuts of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Shifting Gears. The network’s midseason schedule also features new episodes of High Potential‘s first season and the much-anticipated Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode.

Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building season two makes its broadcast debut, and Grant Ellis looks for love on season 29 of The Bachelor. ABC today announced its 2025 midseason premiere dates, featuring a slate of laugh-out-loud comedies, high-octane dramas, and fan-favorite unscripted series. The network delivered a fall schedule full of ratings hits, including this season’s High Potential, which was ABC’s most-watched series premiere in nearly four years.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition makes its long-awaited return to ABC with all the feels beginning Thursday, Jan. 2. The new iteration, hosted by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin±—co-founders of the global lifestyle brand The Home Edit, will be followed by the exclusive broadcast premiere of season two of the Emmy Award-nominated Hulu Original comedy Only Murders in the Building.

Will Trent premieres Tuesday, Jan. 7, followed by the midseason return of High Potential and a new season of The Rookie.

ABC has announced their mid-season premiere dates for all of their TV shows!

There are actually some pretty significant changes to the schedule. First, the network has announced the premiere dates for some 2025 shows including Will Trent, The Rookie, American Idol, and The Bachelor. You may also notice The Conners is missing from the schedule. ABC has promised it will return sometime in March 2025.

In addition, some shows are switching timeslots, including High Potential and Abbott Elementary.

Furthermore, some Hulu TV shows will be airing on ABC this coming winter! The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini will both get broadcast premieres, as well as the second season of Only Murders in the Building.

ABC locked in its midseason schedule, including the Winter premieres of freshman comedy series “Shifting Gears” and the reboot of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and the returns of shows like “The Rookie,” “Will Trent,” “Abbott Elementary” and “The Bachelor.”

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” will return Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt, with the new iteration hosted by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin and produced by “Hello Sunshine.” It will be followed by the exclusive broadcast premiere of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” Season 2. “America’s Funniest Home Videos” will return Jan. 5 at 7 p.m., followed by “The Wonderful World of Disney” at 8 p.m..

“Will Trent” Season 3 returns Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. Et/Pt, followed by the midseason return of “High Potential” at 9 p.m. and the Season 7 premiere of “The Rookie” at 10 p.m.

On Jan. 8, Tim Allen and Kat Dennings’ “Shifting Gears” will premiere at 8 p.m.

The lines between Hulu and ABC (already programmed jointly under head Craig Erwich) continue to blur, as the Alphabet web unveiled a midseason schedule heavy on repurposed hits from the streamer. That includes the addition of Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” which will air on Mondays at 10 p.m. starting Jan. 27 following “The Bachelor.”

Also getting a broadcast run on ABC, starting Jan. 30: Hulu docuseries “Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini,” which will air Thursdays at 10 p.m., leading out of ABC’s long-delayed true crime series “Scamanda.” Additionally, ABC will bring back Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” for another broadcast run (after running Season 1 in January 2024) — this time, Season 2 of the comedy will run Thursdays at 9 p.m. via two-hour blocks for the first four weeks of January 2025 (starting Jan. 2).

The first quarter of 2025 will bring some familiar names and faces to ABC — both from the network’s own roster and that of its Disney sibling Hulu.

ABC’s midseason lineup includes several Hulu series that will help fill gaps in the schedule. The second season of Only Murders in the Building will air on Thursdays in January, and unscripted Hulu shows The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini will also spend time on the broadcast network in the winter.

ABC aired season one of Omitb last season to help fill out its lineup before the network’s own scripted shows made their post-strikes return. Grant Ellis’ journey for love on Season 29 of The Bachelor will unfold beginning in January, ABC revealed Thursday, along with the rest of its midseason lineup.

The latest season of The Bachelor kicks off on January 27 with a two-hour premiere at 8 p.m., as one of ABC’s several reality TV debuts in the new year.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is making its anticipated return to the network on January 2, with a new iteration of the series hosted by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin.

ABC is shaking up its fall lineup to make room for more Monday Night Football. The network has added six more simulcasts, for a total of 17 games in 2024, including three exclusives, 14 simulcasts, and playoffs.

According to Deadline, the network has delayed the returns of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (season five) and Press for Luck (season six), as well as the series premiere of ABC News' Scamanda series, until early 2025.

Current Monday night resident What Would You Do? is moving to Wednesday nights effective immediately.

Of the three, the game shows are being pushed to 2025, delaying Pat Sajak’s Wheel of Fortune farewell with his final celebrity edition, while What Would You Do? will move to Wednesdays starting next week, taking over the slot previously assigned to ABC News’ Scamanda, which will be held for midseason.

ABC is pushing the premieres of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” “Press Your Luck” and ABC News’ “Scamanda” back to 2025 as it adds six simulcast NFL games to its fall schedule.

The new ABC/ESPN simulcasts, which will air at 8:15 p.m. Et, include the Bills facing off against the Jets on Oct. 14, the Ravens against the Buccaneers on Oct. 21, the Buccaneers against the Chiefs on Nov. 4, the Texans vs. the Cowboys on Nov. 18, The Ravens against the Chargers on Nov. 25 and the Saints vs. the Packers on Dec. 23.

The decision, which was made in conjunction with the league and is just for the 2024-25 season, is designed to lean into the cross-promotional opportunities and maximize the reach of NFL programming across Disney’s ecosystem. It will also give the network’s game shows a more consistent, weekly run midseason to avoid conflicts with football and the 2024 election.

Not realizing the whole thing is staged, their reactions are then caught on camera. The series originally appeared on ABC’s Primetime before getting its own first season.

ABC is the latest broadcast network to adjust its schedule to accomodate the vice presidential debate between Governor Tim Walz (D-mn) and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-oh), hosted by CBS News, which is scheduled for Oct. 1.

The Dancing with the Stars episode previously scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 1, will be preempted. Instead, the network will double pump the ballroom dancing competition the following week with a two-night event on Monday, Oct 7, and Tuesday, Oct 8. As previously announced, season 33 of Dancing with the Stars premieres Sept.17, simulcast live on ABC and Disney+ and available next day on Hulu.

A new season of What Would You Do?, hosted by ABC News’ John Quiñones, will launch Monday, Oct. 7.

ABC has revealed its full lineup for its Fall 2024 programming, after announcing earlier those series that were renewed or canceled. As previously announced, unscripted programs Celebrity Jeopardy, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, and more have been renewed for new seasons, though the latter will experience a big change when Katy Perry doesn’t return as a judge in its eighth season at ABC (23rd overall) as former Carrie Underwood steps up to the plate. To no one’s surprise, The Bachelor has also been renewed for Season 29. Shark Tank and What Would You Do? will also be coming back for more. As for its scripted programming, the Emmy-winning powerhouse that is Abbott Elementary will be back for Season 4 (it scored an early renewal in February), The Conners has been renewed for a seventh and final season, and Not Dead Yet was sadly canceled after two seasons.
