Romancing the Stone (1984)
The premise for this film is very similar to Romancing the Stone (1984). The name of the book tour was ''Romancing the Page''. Brad Pitt's character of Jack Trainer is a nod to the film that this is a loose remake of 'Romancing the Stone' (1984). In that film the lead character was called Jack Colton and Mary Ellen Trainor, the wife of Robert Zemeckis (who directed it), had a small role. Mary Ellen died in 2015 aged 62 so 'Jack Trainer' is a nod to the original film.Working Girl (1988)
Jack Trainer (Brad Pitt) is also the name of the character played by Harrison Ford. The Net (1995)
The name of romance novelist Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock)'s fictional heroine was Dr. Angela Lovemore. Bullock previously played a character called ''Angela''.The Beautician and the Beast (1997)
The opening score that is playing when the Paramount logo is shown was also used in the earlier movie.Fight Club (1999)
Brad Pitt's character, Jack Trainer, eating while talking on the phone is the same way his previous character, Tyler Durden, was introduced.
