Over 25 years ago, director Shinichiro Watanabe changed the anime world forever with his groundbreaking hit, Cowboy Bebop (1998). Now, Watanabe is gearing up for the television premiere of his upcoming Spring 2025 series, Lazarus -- a work that its team is praising as "the highest level of entertainment we Japanese can create."
As detailed on Mantan Web, an advance screening of Lazarus was recently held at the Shinjuku Wald 9 movie theater in Tokyo. Here, director Watanabe presented Episode 1 alongside several key cast members, including Mamoru Miyano (Axel), Makoto Furukawa (Doug) and Yuuma Uchida (Leland). Although the primary voice cast has worked on other projects, they are especially enthusiastic about this specific undertaking. Consequently, the first day of recording was extremely nerve-wracking, particularly for Furukawa. "I was very nervous. There are sweat stains on the script for Episode 1," he admitted. "The performance was born because of that tension."

Makoto Yukimura’s Vinland Saga is one of the greatest modern manga series out there and its anime adaptation is no slouch either. Initially, it appears to be the Viking story of a young man who sets out for revenge. Over the course of Vinland Saga's story, it evolves into a weighty thesis on the nature of war, how violence can change us, and what it means to actually devote one's life to peace. Though Vinland Saga has become Yukimura’s most famous series, it’s not the first one in which he was able to filter themes through a genre story. SK8 the Infinity is the first original series by director Hiroko Utsumi. While she's been working as an animator since the mid-2000s on shows like Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Utsumi gained a reputation over the last decade for directing Free! and Banana Fish. Over the course of its runtime, Free! exhibited plenty of homoeroticism but no canonical romance between its athletic leads, whereas Banana Fish featured multiple canon queer characters.
Even after the full release of its first season, whether SK8 the Infinity will fall into Free!'s queerbaiting patterns or Banana Fish's canon queerness remains uncertain. As of right now, it's more aligned with Free! in terms of heavily teasing multiple romantic pairings and failing to follow through on any of them. In the anime's English dub, he is voiced by the talented Zeno Robinson.
Zeno Robinson began his voice-acting career during his middle school years, landing his professional debut role at 14 years old as "Alan Albright" from Ben 10: Alien Force.

The Mobile Suit Gundam series has numerous iterations and entries, but it's still mostly defined by the continuity spawned by the 1979 original. Now, the official Gundam magazine features new art by the series' original designer.
Via Mantan Web, along with a new drawing by legendary artist Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, there's also a celebration of another creator who's vitally important to Gundam. This comes along with the one-shots and other story material included in the book, building more and more on top of the foundation of the classic Universal Century timeline -- and given that 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of the brand, it couldn't come at a better time.

From “Cooking Papa” and “Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma” to “Delicious in Dungeon” and every Ghibli film in between, anime has a rich history of wholesome food porn. Yet even so, it might still come as a surprise to some fans of “Spy x Family” that the show’s first theatrical outing would revolve so heavily around a cooking competition.
It’s not just any cooking competition, mind you. After it looks like spy extraordinaire Loid Forger might be taken off Operation “Strix,” the mission that first brought his found family together, he decides to help his adopted daughter Anya win a coveted prize at Eden Academy, thereby ensuring that the Forgers can stay together for at least a little bit longer. The ever-perceptive Loid quickly realizes that the key to victory lies in making the principal’s favorite meal, a rather “elegant” pastry named Melemele. And so off the...

There are so many directions that a Spy x Family could pursue. The ongoing anime has a deeply versatile story structure that allows it to indulge in diverse missions so that the series always feels fresh. Accordingly, it’s seriously surprising to see Code: White function as a covert cooking anime movie.
It’s the type of story that audiences would expect to see in a Food Wars! or Toriko feature film, but not Spy x Family. It’s also an ambitious approach to Spy x Family’s first movie that hedges its bets and is too cautious to disrupt the status quo. Code: White is still rich in classic Spy x Family elements, even if it amounts to an empty meal.
Loid Forger has previously thwarted international incidents, avoided assassination, and pulled off precision exchanges. Spy x Family has repeatedly proven that he’s an expert spy who can...

The boys' love genre, like any other genre, is filled with tropes. Tropes help fans to identify the genres they're watching after all. Much like how specific types of music use specific cord progressions to give the audience a cue as to what the content is, so too does anime use tropes to attract their target demographic. Also, much like music, different genres tend to borrow from each other in order to experiment with different ways to make their genres even better — or arguably worse depending on the point of view of the audience.
With the popularity of the boys' love genre, it only makes sense that other genres would borrow from it, especially genres with a desire to increase their appeal to the female demographic since boys' love or yaoi tends to be targeted at female readers. Every anime fan has tilted their head in thought as they watch...

In a world full of eccentric and exciting stories, there is always more room for additional anime series, especially if they incorporate a fantastical setting with an overpowered main character. Mashle: Magic and Muscles is one such incredible anime series that has quickly gained popularity since its release in April 2023.
Although the anime features a typical Shonen main character who is all brawl and no brains, it compensates for the flaw with its distinct humor. Having said that, the first season of the anime, with its twelve episodes of uninterrupted entertainment, left viewers wanting more.
The good news is that the second season of Mashle, which is one of the year's most anticipated sequels, is just around the corner, slated to premiere and pick up where the first season left off. With that in mind, here's everything we know so far about Mashle season 2.

Unsolved mysteries are all too common in the anime world. Certain plot points, backstories, or character motivations are left hidden, purposefully or otherwise. Sometimes, this is done to create suspense and encourage discussion among fans until the release of a new episode or season. Occasionally, however, creators forget to answer the very questions they put in place, or a series is canceled before viewers get to know the real truth. The following are the top ten unsolved mysteries that have kept anime fans scratching their heads for years.
Where Does Saitama's Strength Come From?
One-Punch Man parodies shounen archetypes, which means that Saitama is absurdly strong -- he can defeat any enemy with a titular one-punch. Many viewers have speculated over the years as to where Saitama got such incredible strength. It's unlikely that a true answer will ever be revealed, however, as that would defeat the purpose of the gag.

Funimation's Sk8 The Infinity is a lot like other sports anime. A gaggle of main characters centered around skateboarding but rather than a sanctioned event, "S" is more of an underground event.
